What does this mechanic do?
-This mechanic lets you know immediately when an enemy spots you, and which enemies are spotting you (with the red eye symbol).
-Your tank becomes unspotted 30% faster than other tanks, 7s instead of the usual 10s.
–Tracer Shells have a nerfed effect against tanks which have this mechanic, only spotting you for 17s, instead of their usual 20s.
Caveats of this mechanic
The red eye symbol will let you know immediately when you are spotted, as you can see the red eye above the enemy who spotted you, it lets you know that you have been seen. You don’t have to wait 3s for the lightbulb to tell you “You’ve been spotted!”.
However, this is only the case if you can actually see the enemy who is spotting you. If the enemy that spots you is not spotted by you or your team, no red eye icon will show up.
Similarly, if you are looking the wrong way (like if an enemy appears from behind you or on your side), your camera cannot see the red eye icon show up, as the enemy who is spotting you isn’t in your camera view, even if they are spotted.
When is it useful?
This mechanic is always useful.
Currently it is available only on 2 light tanks, and these are both active tanks. Due to the playstyle of these tanks, the mechanic is very useful for both spotting enemies, and also for evading them.
It lets you know exactly when you get spotted, so you can take immediate evasive action if you need to.
It also lets you know which tanks are spotting you, allowing you to easily get out of their line of sight.
It also lets you run away quicker. For example, if an enemy has spotted you, and you’re currently hiding behind a building, waiting to be unspotted so you can try and run away from the area, you only have to wait 7s before you can make a move and run away.
