Engine Consumables

These consumables boost the engine’s horsepower, giving the tank better acceleration and traverse speed.

  1. Engine Power Boost
  2. Improved Engine Power Boost
  3. Reduced Engine Power Boost

Engine Power Boost

Engine power boost (or speed boost) is a free standard consumable available for all tanks from tiers 3-10.

What does it do?
+20% engine power

Effect duration:
12s (15.96s with Equipment)
Cooldown time:
1m 05s (57.2s with Equipment)

What benefits does it give?
20% faster acceleration rate and improved traverse speed.
It does not increase your top speed, so using it on tanks with a 20km top speed to try get them to go faster is quite pointless.

When to use the Consumable?
When you need to have better traverse speed or acceleration.
In situations such as reaching a position early at the start of a battle, turning your hull faster to get bounces, turning your tank faster to be able to shoot enemies (for TD with no turret), or going up a slope in a slow tank.

Consumable loadout:
Usually any autoloader with no special consumables will take engine power boost, as they can’t use adrenaline.
Light & medium tanks may use this consumable for a boost in speed to get in to or out of situations, and heavy tanks and TDs may use it to angle their hulls for armour or to get the gun on target (or just go somewhere if they are really slow).

If your tank isn’t unbelievably slow in acceleration or traverse, taking a repair kit is usually more useful than Engine Power Boost.

Improved Engine Power Boost

Improved Engine Power Boost (sometimes called Super Speed Boost) is a special provision, not every tank has this as an option.

What does it do?
+35% engine power
+over 5% traverse speed (in game it says 5%, but that is added on to the 40% engine power which also increases traverse by an unknown amount)
+4km/h forward speed
+8km/h reverse speed

Effect duration:
15s (19.5s with Equipment)
Cooldown time:
1m 30s (1m 18s with Equipment)

When to use the Consumable?
For the situations that you would use the standard version of this consumable. If you want to get in/out of a situation, or to reposition your tank. This consumable is basically just a buffed version of the standard Engine Power boost.

Consumable Loadout:
This consumable can be very useful on any tank. Currently no light tank in the game has this, and only 2 medium tanks have it; which makes sense as MT and LT usually don’t need help with mobility.

You should take this consumable on your tank if it is very has low top speed and/or traverse the  T95, T28, and Black Prince are examples of this.
This consumable is also very helpful to tanks with good top speeds/acceleration, since it can allow them to escape from bad situations much more reliably.

Whether it is or is not worth taking this varies greatly between each tank that has it, as nearly all of them have other Special Consumable options. These options are discussed in the tank reviews of each tank.

Reduced Engine Power Boost

Reduced engine power boost (free engine boost) is a free standard consumable available for all tanks from tiers 4-10.

What does it do?
+10% engine power

Effect duration:
10s (13.30s with Equipment)
Cooldown time:
1m 10s (61.60s with Equipment)

What benefits does it give?
10% faster acceleration rate and improved traverse speed.
It does not increase your top speed, so using it on tanks with a 20km top speed to try get them to go faster is quite pointless.

When to use the Consumable?
When you need to have better traverse speed or acceleration, it has the same use as the standard (20%) engine power boost below.

Consumable loadout:
This consumable isn’t useful unless you are really low on credits, since the only real benefit it has over the standard speed boost is that it doesn’t cost any credits to use in battle.
