Earning free gold & premium tanks

Gold and premium tanks can both be easily earned by any player without spending any money.

Buying premium tanks using freely earned gold gives you by far the widest range and choice of options for what tank you want to buy. Nearly every tank in game can get sold in the store for gold, so by earning gold, you have the best choices of tanks.

Gold can be earned for free from gold boosters, containers, missions, events, and by watching ads.

Gold Boosters

These can be earned for free during in-game events, from personal mission and clan mission containers, from the weekly clan rewards, and video ad containers.

Gold boosters give a guaranteed 10 gold per battle. The amount of gold increases for a victorious battle depending on the tier you won the battle in. Tier 1 gives +1 extra gold, tier 2 gives +2 extra gold, all the way to tier 10 which gives +10 extra gold.

The most effective way to use gold boosters is not to play at the highest tier, but to play using the tanks which you win the most battles in.
Of course the ideal situation is to play your highest tier and win the most battles, since that would give the highest return of gold.
However there is no point to play your highest tier tank if you can’t win in it. Losing in any tank still gives less gold than winning in a tier 1 tank.

Watch ads

Ads can only be accessed by using a mobile device. If on a PC or laptop, you cannot receive ads.

Method 1:
Watching ads from the “gold” section of the store can give up to 50 gold per day (18,250 per year).

Each ad watched gives 10 gold, you can watch up to 5 gold ads per day, they have a 2 minute cooldown between each ad.

Method 2:
You can also watch a video container ad, once you watch 2 ads, you can open the container. The container will always contain either gold boosters, parts of a certificate for 100 gold, or an order which gives 100 gold upon completion.

You can watch 1 ad per 2 hours, and can only open 1 container each day. (1 container takes 2 ads to open)

Complete missions

Both personal, clan, daily, and weekly missions and their crates can yield either gold or gold boosters as a reward.

Many different missions can bring gold rewards, including:
-3 times per day: Finish each “daily” clan mission – 5% chance of 1 gold booster
-1 time per day: Finish 11 personal missions – 17.65% chance of 25 gold (Strategic Day’s Supply)
-1 time per week: Finish 27 personal missions – 16.67% chance of 100 gold (Basic Weekly Supply)
-1 time per week: Finish 50 personal missions – 16.67% chance of 240 gold (Strategic Week’s Supply)
-1 time per week: 2 or 3 gold-related rewards from the clan progression bar. Each reward can be worth between 100 and 300 gold. Sometimes this is in the form of gold boosters.

Participate in events

Events are fairly easy to complete and happen fairly often. They can contain both gold and tanks, but some will be small or short so may not contain both.

Past events (ones that were actually doable) have included these tank rewards:
E75 TS, WZ-112-2, M41D, Loza’s M4-A2, M6 EXP, AMX 49, Action X, Progetto 46, FCM 50T, leKpz M41 90mm, Centurion Mk. 5/1, 59-Patton, Super Hellcat, VK 168.01 (P), WZ-122TM, Chimera, T-44-100, Kunze Panzer, CS-52 LIS, SU-122-44, AT 15A, T23E3, IS-2 (1945), FV201 (A45), Škoda T45, etc…

As you can see there have been quite a range of easy to achieve rewards, and not just low tiers.

Events also often contain a decent gold reward, sometimes in the form of a collectible item, gold boosters, or just actual gold.

Open free containers

Free containers can be found at the bottom of the in-game store.

Free containers can be found at the bottom of the in-game store. There are 3 types:

Small: Can be opened 3 times per day, small chance of 35 or 110 gold.

Big: Can be opened once per 2.5 days, small chance of 170, 320, or 520 gold; small chance of a tier 5 premium tank.

Huge: Can be opened once per 6.5 days, small chance of 270, 620, or 920 gold; small chance of a tier 6, 7, or 8 premium tank.

The drop chances of these rewards are extremely low, ranging from 0.60% down to 0.02% chance (for the tank rewards).
Since they are free and you can open 1297 of these containers each year (1095 small, 146 big, 56 huge), their chances are lower than other crates.

Video ad containers also contain gold rewards, and a 0.05% chance of dropping the Panther/M10. You can only open 1 of these each day.
Note that these will only appear when using a mobile device. PC and Laptop devices cannot access ads.

Finish the Battlepass

The Battlepass is a “event” that happens for 28 days in each month. It is free to participate in, but most of the best rewards are locked behind payment.

To complete it and get the full reward, you must complete every single mission (60 missions). These are progressive, so there are actually 5 missions each week, each of these 5 can be completed 3 times with the requirements gradually getting harder.
Every week of the battlepass a new set 5 x 3 of missions unlocks, up until the final week of the battlepass.

When all 60 missions are complete, you will have gotten a total of 350 gold.
(Honestly quite a pathetic reward considering the amount of effort is needed to complete the BP without buying a premium pass)

Coin Tournaments

Season coin tournaments give you special currency to buy tank bundles in store.

Coin tournaments are the easiest and best way to get season coins. With a good team you can quite easily get around 500-1000 season coins in a single tournament, and these tournaments happen multiple times a week during the active seasons.
Coin tournaments are also very flexible, they are not clan restricted, and they are not device restricted, so any player can join any tournament team (if they have an invite/are accepted).

Season coins can be used to buy bundles in the store, these bundles can contain tanks from tiers 6-8 and usually cost either 11,000 or 16,000 season coins. Some examples of tanks sold in these bundles are shown below in the Rating battles section of this page.

Rating battles

Rating battles can reward you with free premium tanks among other prizes, but take a long and arduous grind.

This will be the hardest method to complete compared with all the previously mentioned methods to get premium tanks.

Season coins:
These come from victorious battles in the Rating mode.
For winning 1 battle, you get:
5 coins in Gold league
7 coins in Platinum league
10 coins in Diamond league

These coins can be spent during the tournament/rating season, at other times of the year there will be no bundles to buy. To buy a bundle in store (ones containing tanks), you will need between 11,000 and 16,000 season coins.

In the past, these tanks have been available in season coin bundles:
KV-13, M4A3E2, Gravedigger, E 25, Progetto 46, 112 Glacial, WZ Blaze, T28 HTC, leKpz M41 90mm, T-54 Mod. 1, FCM 50t, Tankenstein, STG.

You can also buy “Esports containers”, which have a 10% chance of dropping a tier 7 or 8 premium tank, and a 10% chance of dropping season coins.

Fearless tanks:
These can only be achieved by the top players of each server, and for the players who don’t place in the top 5 or 10, you will need to grind multiple months in ratings.

Fearless tanks ARE premiums, so earning them for free is definitely worth it if you are willing to do it.

Its a very hard grind as you have to reach the Diamond league to even qualify for getting 40 parts of a Fearless tank (per 3-month season). If you want more than 40 parts then you will have to grind to be in the top 200 (EU) or top 50 (NA & ASIA) players in ratings.
