These equipment pieces with scouting and concealment. Players generally refer to them as optics and camo net.
Improved Optics
What does it do?
+11% view range for LT
+8% view range for MT
+6% view range for HT
+4% view range for TD
Why is this useful?
It allows you to spot enemies from a further distance on the map.
What tanks to use Improved Optics on?
Basically on every tank that doesn’t snipe from a distance. Using camo net instead would only put your tank at a disadvantage as it will be harder for you to scout enemies, meaning you would have to get closer to the enemy team and possibly expose yourself, even with higher camo rating.
Coated optics allow you to stay at a safe distance and still be able to spot, using bushes could help to mitigate a lower camo rating.
Camouflage Net
What does it do?
+7% camo rating for LT
+4% camo rating for MT
+2% camo rating for HT
+10% camo rating for TD
Effect is doubled if the tank does not move for 3s
Why is this useful?
It makes your tank much harder to spot, especially when its not moving. It also stacks up with bushes, which give an additional boost to your tank’s camo rating
What tanks to use Camouflage Net on?
Tanks with a sniping playstyle, they need to stay far from enemies, and it should be the team that spots for you.
Best Equipment Choice
Which Equipment piece is the better choice?
You can only take one of these 2 equipment pieces on a tank.
Sniping TDs should always use Camo Net as they need to stay at a distance and be unspotted. It will be more beneficial to have higher camo rating, especially as sitting at the back means you cant spot anything even if you did use Coated Optics.
Most other tanks should take Coated Optics, as they won’t be sniping from a distance and the additional view range will be helpful to your team.
Unless your tank has a sniping/support play style (such as the M4A1 Rev or Firefly), usually all MT/LT/HT should take coated Optics.
