These equipment pieces are only available on a few tanks. Players generally refer to them as “gun depression equipment” and “mobility/speed equipment”.
Improved Vertical Stabilizer

What does it do?
+3 degrees to gun depression
+4 degrees to gun elevation
Why is this useful?
Having better gun depression allows your tank to utilize more positions on a map, and it also can make you effective armour stronger when using gun depression.
What tanks to use Improved Vertical Stabilizer on?
Tanks that don’t benefit from using Improved Suspension
The main reason you would use the Improved Vertical Stabilizer instead of it would be that the tank’s top speed is too limited to benefit from Improved Suspension, or it just has a different playstyle and does not work very well as a very mobile heavy.
You should use Improved Vertical Stabilizer on the Chi-Se, as its limited to 35km/h, it already has very good acceleration and traverse speed, and it plays most like a proper heavy tank out of the Japanese HT tech tree.
Improved Suspension

What does it do?
+20% to terrain resistance hard terrain.
+15% to terrain resistance medium terrain.
+30% to terrain resistance soft terrain.
Why is this useful?
Improved ground resistances make a tank much more mobile, increasing its effective acceleration rate and its traverse speeds.
What tanks to use Improved Suspension on?
Tanks which you feel need mobility more than gun depression
Don’t use it on the Chi-Se, as it doesn’t benefit from this equipment piece much, but on the Type 71, Type 68, and Ju-To, this equipment piece an equally viable choice.
This equipment piece is also available on the VK 72.01 (K), and VK 45.02 (B) and is definitely a more useful choice over improved optics.
Best Equipment Choice
Which Equipment piece is the better choice?
You can only take one of these 2 equipment pieces on a tank.
Generally this will be down to your preference as a player, if you want better gun depression or if you want better mobility. It also means you can play the tank in 2 different playstyles.
