Enhanced Armour

Why is this useful?
It adds armour to your tank, making it stronger.

What tanks to use Enhanced Armour on?
Tanks with thick nominal armour plates. Tanks like the Ho-Ri, E 100, Maus, 113G FT, Obj,268/4; while they don’t have amazing angling, the thickness of their armour plates means this equipment can add quite a lot of armour. (For example on the Ho-Ri its 250mm front becomes 260mm)

Tanks with good armour angling (decent effective armour). Tanks like the 121, 113, 60TP, WZ-111 5A, Obj.268, Badger, IS-7, and E 50 M; even though the nominal thickness of their plates is quite low, they have great angling, which will amplify the effects of using Enhanced armour.
(For example the 121’s front is angled to be ~241mm, with enhanced armour it becomes ~251mm)

Tanks with a significant overmatch weakness. The best examples of this are the E 100, Jg. E 100, and Škoda T56, which have overmatchable engine decks/roofs.

Tanks that don’t benefit from using Enhanced Armour:
Tanks with rounded/bulbous armour like the T110E5, T110E3, M103, and T54E2. All have very well angled and round upper plates & turrets.

Super Conqueror, since nothing can penetrate its spaced armour with standard ammo, and premium HEAT ammo (which 40 of 56 Tier X tanks use) is completely useless against the Super Conqueror’s spaced armour.

Improved Assembly

Why is this useful?
More HP helps your tank to survive longer when it does get penetrated.

What tanks to use Improved Assembly on?
Tanks that don’t have much armour and/or can’t use it easily or practically.
Using enhanced armour wouldn’t benefit these tanks anyway, and being able to take an extra hit is better than improving armour that’s irrelevant.

If you use enhanced armour on a tank that’s not meant to bounce shots, or is not effective at doing so, its completely useless. You may as well have more HP, because your tank is going to take damage regardless.

Best Equipment Choice

Which Equipment piece is the better choice?
You can only take 1 of these 2 equipment pieces on a tank.

For tanks that do have any armour at all, its best to take Enhanced Armour. While Improved Assembly will increase your HP, its increase is so minimal that in many situations it won’t make enough of a difference. Enhanced armour will help any tank even with some red armour against enemies, and bouncing one extra shot from an enemy is already worth much more in HP than the HP that improved assembly would add.

Improved assembly is really for tanks that just have no practical armour at all, such as Rhm.-b. WT, or tanks which don’t rely on armour in their gameplay, such as light tanks or lightly armoured mediums.
