Hulldown vs Gun Depression

Often the term “hulldown” gets confused with “using gun depression”:
This is because often, when using gun depression, you are hulldown.
However, you don’t have to use gun depression to be hulldown, you can be hulldown on flat ground too.

Below are some images showing the difference. These terms are often used in tank reviews and there is an important difference, as it affects how a tank’s armour changes.
Generally tanks with poor gun depression “go hulldown”.
Tanks with good gun depression are actually “going hulldown, while using gun depression”.

Hulldown: This is on flat ground, the hull is hidden and the tank is not using gun depression.
This is using gun depression, but the tank is also hulldown at the same time.
