Armour

vs 182mm AP
Upper plate 195-265mm auto-ricochet
Mid plate 205mm
Lower plate 260-355mm auto-ricochet
Hull side mini turrets 105-150mm
Gun mount area 220-260mm
Roof cupolas 175-280mm

vs 250mm HEAT
Very few tier 7 tank have this much premium penetration, most are sitting between 195-235mm of penetration.
As shown, angling the tank is very effective for getting bounces. The side armour is a very healthy 101mm thick, and the sideskirts add an extra 50mm.

vs 182mm AP (top image)/ 250mm HEAT (bottom image)
This is the best way to use the T28 HTC’s armour, using the full gun arc, and hiding its weakpoints behind cover.

vs 160mm AP
Do not sidescrape in the T28 HTC. Due to the weakpoints it cant be angled like this.
(The T28 HTC in the images is using Enhanced Armour)
Armour vs tier 6
Tier 6 enemies will really struggle against this tank, very few have over 210mm of premium penetration, most have under 200mm. This means the only weaknesses this tank has to tier 6 enemies are the 2 mini-turrets on either side of the tank (which are weak even to standard ammo).
Armour vs tier 7
Tier 7 enemies are the same as tier 6, with the only weakness being the turrets on the side.
However many tier 7 tanks have a chance to penetrate the lower plate of the T28 if using premium ammunition. The lower plate only needs about 210mm of penetration to go through (220mm if the T28 has enhanced armour).
Armour vs tier 8
Mediums and lights will face the same issues as tier 7, but have enough premium penetration to go through an un-angled T28. If its angled, then lower pen tanks will struggle with premium ammo.
Most tier 8 heavy tanks have over 220mm of AP penetration, so these tanks will be able to easily penetrate the lower plate of the T28 HTC if its not angled. If its angled, most tier 8 tanks still need premium ammo to penetrate. Tier 8 heavies have high-pen premium ammo and they won’t struggle at all.
Playing against a T28 HTC:
The mini-turrets are weak to all tier tanks.
Exploit weakpoints:
The T28 HTC has various weakpoints on the tank. The most obvious are the mini-turrets on either side of the hull. If the T28 is exposing these, aim for them.
If the T28 is hiding those turrets, you could also aim right above the gun, the armour there is only 215-225mm thick, most premium ammo from tier 7 tanks would be able to go through, and tier 8s shouldn’t struggle either.
The small hatches on the top of the tank are also weakpoints, but you have to hit them dead-center or your shell will bounce
Shoot HE:
If you have no way of penetrating the tank at all, shoot HE at the circular gun mounting. The armour right under this area is only 25mm thick, meaning your shell will do a good amount of splash damage.
Track/circle:
Though the T28 HTC has a decent traverse speed and gun arc, if you track it and then circle around behind it, the tank will have trouble getting you off. Its reverse speed is very low, so use this to your advantage when playing against the tank.
Overmatch:
If your tank has a 152mm gun, you can overmatch 2 places on the front of the T28 HTC. One is the very front of the upper plate, where it is just 50mm thick, the second is the bottom half of the lower-lower plate, which is also 50mm thick.
Gun
The T28 Concept has a 105mm gun
-Reload time is 7.6s, with an alpha damage of 310, giving it 2454 DPM
-Penetration is 190mm on AP, 235mm with APCR, and 53mm on HE
-Aim time is 3.5s/3.8s, which is decent for its tier and damage.
-Dispersion is 0.362/0.326 which is not great, but decent compared to same tier heavies
–Gun handling is very good, 0.18/0.18/0.16, and it can be improved to 0.15/0.15/0.14 with Vertical Stabilizer.
-Gun depression is poor at -4.4 degrees, though this isn’t a problem. The playstyle of the tank is not one that uses dun depression, and the tank is very low profile, so usually this isn’t a problem.
The gun of this tank is balanced like its for a heavy tank (as Assault TD guns sometimes are). That considered, this gun has decent dispersion, superb penetration, and very good DPM, aim time, and gun handling.
Mobility
-Top speed is good 29km/h, and a very slow reverse speed of -10km/h.
-Acceleration on hard terrain is 11.5hp/t, and 9.4hp/t on medium terrain.
-Traverse speed is 34.6 deg/s on hard terrain and 28.5 deg/s on medium terrain.
-Ground resistances are a terrible 1.4/1.7/2.2
-The gun traverse arc is an amazing 30 degrees to the left and 30 degrees to the right, making it extremely flexible, even without a turret.
The mobility of the T28 Concept is quite good, as assault TDs are usually limited to a speed of under 25km/h. Due to the extremely good acceleration rate of 16hp/t (base), the terrible ground resistances don’t make it any slower than other Assault TDs.
Overall this has nice top speed and acceleration, with fairly average traverse speed.
Equipment, provisions, & consumables
The T28 HTC has no special provisions/consumables.
Double Fuel:
Assault TDs are slow and prone to being isolated and circled. Stack 3% and 10% fuel to have better traverse speed to counter this.
Improved Modules:
The T28 weighs a very heavy 70 tons. While its only limited to 29km/h sometimes its able to ram enemies. In gamemodes such as Uprising, Gravity, or Mad Games, this will be able to do very good ramming damage. Improved Modules means you will take less damage by ramming enemies, preserving your HP.
Enhanced Armour:
The T28 already has very healthy HP for a tier 7 tank, 1200 base HP. It doesn’t really need improving, and as this tank is all about strong armour, use Enhanced Armour to improve it.
The main benefit of enhanced armour will be to the lower plate, which is a weakpoint to tier 8 enemies and premium ammo.
Using enhanced armour will increase the lower plate’s armour from 205mm to about 214mm when flat, and from 241mm to 252mm when angled.
It will also stop all 152mm guns from overmatching the lower-lower plate, and the upper plate.
Improved Control:
As stated above, this tank has a very strong engine and great acceleration, but due to being an Assault TD, it should improve its traverse speed. By using improved control, the T28 HTC gets a very nice 36 deg/s traverse on hard terrain, and 29.7 deg/s on medium terrain.
Couple this with the amazing +/- 30 degree gun traverse arc, it makes the tank harder to circle around.
Gameplay advice
The main advice of this tank is to play it like a heavy. In all aspects, this is a heavy tank, it has heavy armour, its got good HP, its got a heavy-like gun with high dpm, its got heavy mobility.
Play as a heavy tank, but be aware of your weaknesses, the side mini-turrets, and of course the fact that you can’t turn the gun more than a total of 60 degrees.
Avoid all gun depression areas, if theres a town, go town. This tank needs relatively flat ground to play on, even though the gun is low to the ground, it can’t easily point down on uneven terrain.
Try to have allies with you, as this isn’t a tank that can easily hold off multiple enemies. If enemies see that you are alone, they will rush, and your DPM isn’t enough to easily hold off 3-4 enemies at once.
Always expose the front of this tank. Its not something many other tanks would usually do, but the T28 Concept is made for this.
Poke the front of your tank out so that the lower plate is fully exposed, and angle your tank away form the enemy so that you are using the full gun arc.
This hides the mini-turret on your tank’s outer side, and increases your lower plate armour by about 30mm; and due to very strong side armour, you can do this fairly confidently.
Try and keep the rear part of your tank behind a building or a rock, as it hides your other weak mini-turret.

The correct way to expose the tank’s armour.
Overall
Armour – 8/10
Gun – 8/10
Mobility – 5.5/10
Speed – 3.5/10
T28 HTC is overall a good tank.
Armour is overall very strong on all areas, great upper, lower, and mid plate armour, with a strong gun mount and small roof cupolas. Large side weakpoints, but armour angling is very easy, and side spaced protection is strong.
Gun has great aim time, accuracy, gun handling, DPM, reload time, alpha damage, and penetration (compared to HT). Gun depression is poor.
Mobility is good, a strong engine, decent acceleration and traverse speeds. Reverse speed is very slow, but gun flexibility is high.
Speed is fairly low at 29km/h.
Is it worth getting?
As the tank is quite unique, and is quite a good vehicle, yes it is worth getting.
If you are a very experienced player, you should enjoy the challenge and unique way that this tank angles its armour. Newer players can still do well in the tank due to its great gun, high hp and solid overall armour.
Its most similar to a VK 72.01 K, due to how that tank has a similar side weakness, but strong front; the T28 is the same but more pronounced, with larger side weaknesses but a gun that further forward, so easier to use.
If you are interested in getting the VK, this could be a great tank to help you learn the armour angling, and grind credits at the same time.
