Update 10.2 PBR tank armour

Note that all the PBR tanks have their graphics turned to “medium”, as it gives a better comparison to the old version (in terms of lighting and texture).
This setting also just highlights armour better, the red coloring is a lot clearer.

All tanks are shown with stock armour (not improved by equipment). All are shown against typical penetration levels of their tiers.

Image sliders may take some time to load.

Armour comparisons are only for the Chieftain Mk.6. Other tanks just show the new armour.

Chieftain Mark 6

The same replays were used for these comparisons, so any size difference is due to a model change, not a difference in the replay.

Slide right -> to view the 10.1 version of the tank (SD).
Slide left <- to view the 10.2 version of the tank (PBR).

The image on the left <- shows the tank against 240mm AP penetration.
The image on the right -> shows the tank against 300mm HEAT penetration.

(This is tier 10 MT penetration on flat ground.)

The cupola looks like it got taller, but its size remains the same, its just moved up slightly as the tank itself got slightly taller.

This is the updated 10.2 PBR version of the tank.

The image on the left <- shows the tank against 258mm AP penetration.
The image on the right -> shows the tank against 340mm HEAT penetration.

(This is tier 10 HT penetration on flat ground.)

Notice the difference between premium HEAT in this image, and APCR in the image below.

This is the updated 10.2 PBR version of the tank.

The image on the left <- shows the tank against 259mm AP penetration.
The image on the right -> shows the tank against 326mm APCR penetration.

(This is tier 10 HT penetration on flat ground.)

Notice the difference between premium APCR in this image, and HEAT in the image above.
The hull is penetrable due to APCR normalization, HEAT doesn’t normalize, so can’t penetrate as easily.

Slide right -> to view the 10.1 version of the tank (SD).
Slide left <- to view the 10.2 version of the tank (PBR).

The image on the left <- shows the tank against 250mm AP penetration.
The image on the right -> shows the tank against 330mm HEAT penetration.

(This is average tier 10 HT penetration vs Chieftain Mk.6 using full -10 gun depression.)

Slide right -> to view the 10.1 version of the tank (SD).
Slide left <- to view the 10.2 version of the tank (PBR).

The image on the left <- shows the tank against 258mm AP penetration.
The image on the right -> shows the tank against 340mm HEAT penetration.

(This is above average tier 10 HT penetration vs Chieftain Mk.6 using full -10 gun depression.)

Chieftain armour changes summarized:

-The turret armour on flat ground against standard ammo (ammo up to 280/290mm penetration) has been buffed.
The big weakpoint that was right above the gun has been made significantly smaller/stronger against standard ammo.

-The turret armour on flat ground against premium ammo has been nerfed. The sloped roof area has been made significantly weaker against premium ammo.

-The hull upper plate armour on flat ground remains roughly the same as before.

-Gun mantlet armour buffed significantly.

-The driver’s port has been made into a hull armour weakpoint. This is a slight nerf (not very significant as the Chieftain doesn’t rely on hull armour and this weakpoint is fairly small).

-The size of the lower plate has gotten smaller (narrower).

-The turret profile has gotten slightly taller (cupola looks like it got taller, but it just moves up with the turret, its size remains the same).

Object 268

Slide right -> to view the tank against 240mm AP penetration.
Slide left <- to view the tank against 300mm HEAT penetration.

The image on the left shows the tank against when not angled at all.
The image on the right shows the tank when its angled to the full extent of its gun arc.

Object 704

Slide right -> to view the tank against 245mm AP penetration.
Slide left <- to view the tank against 290mm HEAT penetration.

The image on the left shows the tank against when not angled at all.
The image on the right shows the tank when its angled to the full extent of its gun arc.

This is not an armoured TD, so there’s not much change between AP and HEAT.

VK 16.02 Leopard

Both images are shown against 110mm AP.

This is a light tank so it really doesn’t have much armour. Its still not easily HE-penetrable on either its front or its sides.
