Update 10.4 PBR changes

These are all armour and visual changes of the PBR tanks in 10.4

Note that WG could decide to change things before 10.4 is actually released.

  1. 121B armour
  2. K-91 armour
  3. T30 armour
  4. M26 Pershing armour
  5. Charioteer armour
  6. Centurion Mk. 5/1 armour

Turret front:
Armour thickness remained the same, armour angling improved slightly.

(Cupolas look weaker, but the armour is currently an incorrect thickness, 0mm. It should be fixed when 10.4 releases.)

Hull front:
Armour thickness and angle both remained the same.

Overall 121B’s turret got slightly stronger, the rest remained the same effectiveness. It won’t be too noticeable in battle, other than the turret cheeks being able to bounce more shots.

K-91’s overall armour was drastically nerfed.

Turret:
Turret armour plate thicknesses did not change, but angles were made significantly worse in many areas, which results in much worse effective armour (as shown in the images).

The weakest areas of armour on the turret went from around 285mm down to 260mm (this area is just under the hatches on each side of the turret).

Hull:
Upper plate nerfed from 100mm to 99.4mm, angles remained roughly the same. The effective armour didn’t change.

Lower plate buffed from 120mm to 121mm, angle became slightly worse, effective thickness remains roughly the same.

The hull upper sides remained the same, 100mm. The hull lower sides (behind the tracks) were nerfed from 100mm to 82mm.
(See in the above image, showing 300mm HEAT, note how the 10.3 version’s lower side armour is red, but the 10.4 version’s is penetrable.)

Overall the K-91’s armour got much weaker. The hull sides (especially the front track wheel areas) are much easier to penetrate, and the turret overall has far more weakpoints and overall just weaker armour.

T30 armour

vs 245mm AP

T30’s turret size got slightly larger.

Turret:
The left side turret cheek got slightly weaker, the right side turret cheek got slightly stronger. The overall thickness of the turret cheek plates increased, but the angles got slightly worse.

Gun mantlet remained the same (279mm, flat).
Cupola thickness increased from 143mm to 180mm (base armour), but a new 38mm thick area was added at the top of the cupola.

Hull:
The hull frontal armour angles remained roughly the same, upper plate thickness remains the same. Lower plate armour increased from 70mm to 76mm.

T30’s armour effectiveness remains roughly the same. Some areas got stronger, some areas got weaker, but the changes are small and won’t be too noticeable.

M26 Pershing armour

vs 212mm AP

vs 259mm APCR

Pershing’s gun mantlet gets slightly narrower, but now covers more of the turret roof.

Turret:
The gun mantlet’s total thickness increased from 213.4mm up to 242mm, so the weakest point (of effective armour) on the mantlet increased from 227mm up to 242mm.

Turret cheeks & sides increased from 90.7mm to 114mm in base thickness, so it will be harder to HE penetrate.

Hull:
Hull upper plate thickness decreased by 5.7mm, but the angle improved by 2 degrees.
Lower plate thickness decreased by 5mm, but the angle improved by 6 degrees.

Front half of the hull sides decreased from 80mm to 75mm.

Overall the Pershing’s armour effectiveness doesn’t change much. Its turret cheeks remain weak, hull is unreliable, but gun mantlet is strong.

Charioteer armour

vs 212mm AP

Charioteer’s armour remained essentially unchanged, though the tank’s model seems just slightly larger.

Centurion Mk. 5/1 RAAC’s armour remains unchanged.
