Armour

(The Bretagne Panther in the images is using Improved Assembly)

Drag slider Right -> to view 130mm AP
Drag slider <- Left to view 180m APCR

Armour on flat ground:
Upper plate 122mm
Lower plate 105mm
Turret front 100mm
Gun mantlet 250mm
Cupola 110-220mm

Side armour:
The hull sides are 40mm thick, both above and below the tracks.

The part above the tracks is angled slightly, so can withstand HE penetrations up to 50mm.
The part behind the tracks is 40mm and flat, but covered by 5mm spaced armour sideskirts, which protect it from HE damage.

vs 130mm AP (top image), 180mm APCR (bottom image).
Using -8 degrees gun depression.

Upper plate 150-160mm
Turret front 105mm
Gun mantlet 245mm
Cupola 115-450mm

Armour vs tier 5 tanks:
Against tier 5 tanks, the Bretagne Panther has very good armour. If angled even slightly most enemies won’t be able to penetrate the upper plate with standard ammo.

The turret is mostly impenetrable due to the large gun mantlet, and the cupola is strong against tier 5 tanks.

Only the lower plate and flat turret face are weakpoints to tier 5 tanks.

Armour vs tier 6 tanks:
Against tier 6 tanks, the turret is still very strong, but most enemies can easily penetrate the cupola.

The hull is decent, and can still bounce shots if using gun depression, but won’t bounce much on flat ground. The only enemies that may struggle to penetrate on flat ground are tanks with 120-128mm AP penetration, and that’s only if you’re angling the tank.

Armour vs tier 7 tanks:
Against tier 7 tanks, the hull has no armour and can’t be relied on at all. Even if using gun depression, most enemies can easily penetrate the upper plate.

Only very low penetration tanks (such as light tanks) may struggle against the hull armour when using gun depression.

Turret armour is still ver strong due to the large and very strong gun mantlet. Even the highest penetration tier 7 tank’s can’t reliably penetrate it. The cupola and flat turret face are small but weakly armoured against tier 7 enemies.

Gun

The Bretagne Panther mounts a 7,5cm (75mm) gun

-Damage per shot is 160 on AP, 135 on APCR, and 200 on HE
-Reload time is 5.1s, giving it 1900 DPM
-Penetration is 150mm on AP, 194mm on APCR, and 20mm on HE
Estimated aim time is 3.3s/3.6s
Base aim time is 2.3s, but it can get down to 1.87s.
-Dispersion is 0.308/0.277
Gun handling is 0.13/0.13/0.08, or 0.11/0.11/0.07 with Vertical Stabilizer.
-Gun depression is -8 degrees

Overall this is a great gun, its accurate, has high penetration, and has good DPM. it really doesn’t lack anything, and can very reliably hit shots in any situations due to its great stats. 8 degrees of gun depression is comfortable but not anything too special, but it makes using the turret armour comforable and easy.

Mobility

-Top speed is 55km/h, reverse is -20km/h
-Traverse speed is 51.3 deg/s on hard terrain, and 43 deg/s on medium terrain.
-In game acceleration rate is shown as 22.5 hp/t, it has a very strong 1035 horsepower engine for its 46 ton weight.
-Actual acceleration rate is 22.4 hp/t on hard terrain, and 18.7 hp/t on medium terrain.
Ground resistances are 1/1.2/1.6

For such a large and heavy medium tank, the Bretagne has great mobility and speed. Its not slower than any of the other mediums in this tier (other than the Cromwell), and still sports impressive acceleration with decent armour and high weight.

Equipment, provisions, & consumables

Bretagne Panther has no special provisions/consumables.

Gun Rammer:
The Bretagne Panther already has great standard and premium penetration, and is above average in this aspect for a tier 6 tank. Calibrated shells wouldn’t benefit the gameplay of this tank.

Its better to use gun rammer, as even though the 1900 DPM of the Bretagne is good, most other mediums with the same alpha have 2000 DPM or more. Gun rammer is needed to competitively brawl and trade in battles.
Gun rammer will increase the DPM from 1767 up to 1900, and reload time from 5.4s down to 5.1s.

Improved Modules:
The Bretagne Panther weighs 46 tons and has great top speed and acceleration rate, so it can very easily ram most enemy medium and light tanks.

Improved modules will allow the Bretagne Panther to take less damage from the enemies it rams, making ramming more favourable.

Improved Assembly:
While enhanced armour would benefit the upper plate of this tank, it wouldn’t benefit any other area, and the upper plate would still be fairly easy to penetrate for higher penetration tier 6 tanks (140mm+ on AP) and tier 7 tanks.

The gun mantlet is already extremely strong, and doesn’t need enhanced armour to bounce shots from enemies.

Due to these reasons improved assembly is generally a better choice on this tank. It would increase this tank’s great 1050 base HP up to 1113 HP.
This is a huge advantage over most other tier 6 mediums, which have 920-980 base HP.

Vertical Stabilizer:
Due to already having good dispersion (0.308), the Bretagne Panther really doesn’t need to improve it further with refined gun. Its active medium playstyle means it will be constantly moving in battle, and hence it will benefit more from vertical stabilizer, which improves accuracy during and after movement.

Gameplay advice

Bretagne Panther is a fairly standard medium tank in tier 6. Its similar to other 160 alpha mediums in playstyle, just with a little more hull armour and larger size.

General gameplay:
When top tier, you can play this tank quite aggressively. Tier 5 tanks will generally struggle to penetrate the upper plate, especially if angling. You can also very easily ram any enemy, since your tank outweighs even most tier 5 heavy tanks, and any tier 6 medium.

When bottom tier, play less aggressively. Your hull is weak and easily penetrable to any tier 7 enemy, and the turret has a prominent cupola.

Try to always keep hulldown or use gun depression, as the gun mantlet is extremely strong and can easily bounce any enemy. Also angle the hull front whenever possible, as it helps increase the chances for bouncing an enemy.

Ram enemies that are lighter than you, which is essentially any medium or light tank in tiers 5-7

Go hulldown:
The hull is the weakest part of the Bretagne Panther’s armour profile, and its also very large, so enemies will automatically aim for this when shooting at you.

Going hulldown means that enemies can only shoot the turret. The gun mantlet takes up most of the turret profile, and is 240-250mm thick. It will very easily bounce any enemy that shoots it.

Keep moving when hulldown, as the cupola on the roof is quite prominent, and the flat turret face can be hit if you just sit still. Keeping moving will increase the chances of the enemy missing or bouncing.

Ram enemies:
Due to a decently armoured front, good weight of 46 tons, and high speed, the Bretagne Panther can ram enemies quite well.
This is quite a fun aspect of the gameplay, but its also very effective for damage dealing against lighter enemies with less armour.

Bretagne Panther plays in essentially the same way as other tier 6 mediums, with quick rate of fire and good mobility and flexibility. You can rely on the hull of this tank a bit more when using gun depression, and the hulldown capabilities are also better than most other tanks.

Overall

Armour – 6.5/10
Gun – 7.5/10
Mobility – 8/10
Speed – 8/10

Bretage Panther is overall a good tank.

Armour is good for a medium, with decent upper plate and a very strong mantlet. HE protection is decent.
Gun has good DPM & gun handling, high penetration, great accuracy, and decent aim time.
Mobility is great, a strong engine with good acceleration rate and decent traverse speed. Reverse speed is good.
Speed is very good at 55km/h.

Is it worth getting?

The Bretagne Panther is worth getting if you like well-rounded medium tanks, or like ramming enemies. This tank has decent stats in all areas, and is a good tier 6 tank. Its gun and mobility are fairly standard in tier 6, but its armour is slightly better than most medium tanks of this tier, which many players may appreciate.

The Bretagne Panther is worth 4,000 gold. Its a great vehicle overall, and quite fun with the ramming aspect of gameplay and that strong gun mantlet.

This tank is a good credit grinder since its quite a survivable medium tank and has a good gun for damage dealing. Its credit coefficient isn’t known be it seems to be the same as other tier 6 premiums, 145%.

Compared to Pudel

The comparison to the Pudel is natural, these tanks look the same, and are the same tank, a Panther in tier 6.

Armour:
Pudel has 10mm worse frontal armour, a 70mm plate instead of 80mm on the Bretagne. This makes it worse at ramming enemies, and weaker on both flat ground and when using gun depression.

Pudel has 110mm of armour on its mantlet, the Bretagne has 240mm. Pudel’s mantlet can be penetrated by even tier 5 tanks, Bretagne’s mantlet can’t be penetrated even by tier 7’s

Gun:
The guns of these 2 tanks are identical in every way, but the Pudel has slightly better aim time and accuracy.

Bretagne Panther has worse AP penetration by 10mm, but better APCR penetration by 12mm.

Gun handling, DPM, alpha damage, gun depression, and reload time are all the same.

Mobility:
Pudel is more mobile, with the same engine power but weighing over 2 tons less than the Bretagne Panther. Traverse and reverse speeds are the same on both tanks.

Pudel is 5km/h slower than Bretagne.

Ramming:
Bretagne is a better rammer due to better frontal armour, speed, and higher weight than the Pudel.

Overall the Bretagne Panther is a better tank, as it just has better armour, penetration, and speed, while retaining all the good stats that the Pudel offers.
