Armour on flat ground:
Upper plate 195-200mm
Lower plate 110mm
Turret face 185-245mm
Turret weakpoints 90-130mm
Side armour:
The hull sides are 60mm thick above the tracks, and 40mm behind the tracks.
This means that the Kpz 07 RH can resist most HE shells on its side armour, but large caliber guns (such as 152mm) can still penetrate the sides using HE.
Shots can also easily penetrate if you shoot between the tracks, but this is usually a very hard and unreliable shot to hit with HE.

Using -10 gun depression:
Upper plate 285-290mm
Turret face 190-260mm
Turret inner ring (around gun) 80mm
Armour vs tier 7 tanks:
Against tier 7 enemies, the Kpz 07 RH has good armour. Its upper plate is strong against all mediums it faces.
The upper plate will only bounce tier 7 heavy tanks if its angled. Any premium ammo will penetrate the hull easily.
The turret will perform similarly, able to bounce nearly all mediums and many heavies off the majority of the turret front, however it will be easily penetrated if enemies use premium ammo.
Against standard ammo, the lower plate, turret roof areas, and the very center of the turret are all weakpoints.
You can see what the Kpz’s armour against tier 7 tanks is like below.
Armour vs tier 8 tanks:
Most tier 8 tanks will have no problem penetrating the Kpz’s hull, even the lowest penetration tanks with 175-185mm will generally be able to penetrate without issue. These low penetration tanks may struggle more against the turret, as they will only have a roughly 50% chance of penetration.
Other tanks in tier 8 won’t struggle to penetrate the Kpz 07 RH’s armour at all, as its fairly weak against tier 8 penetration levels. You may get lucky and get a bounce off the very edge of the turret, or if your hull is far over-angled, but this won’t happen too often.
Armour vs tier 9 tanks:
Against tier 9 tanks the Kpz has no armour at all. No enemies in tier 9 will struggle to penetrate, and you should expect any shot that hits you to deal damage.
The only chance of bouncing a tier 9 tank is if your armour is at an auto-ricochet angle (such as the upper area of the hull sides, or your hull front at an extreme angle).
When using gun depression, the upper plate will be impenetrable to standard ammo, but many tier 9 tanks will have enough premium penetration to go through.

This penetration level represents a fairly average penetration tier 7 medium tank.
Gun
The Kpz 07 RH mounts a 90mm gun.
-Damage per shot is 240 on AP, 200 on HEAT, and 320 on HEP
-Reload time is 5.5s, giving it 2631 DPM
-Penetration is 218mm on AP, 262mm on HEAT, and 65mm on HEP
–Estimated aim time is 2.5s/2.8s
–Base aim time is 1.7s, but it can get down to 1.39s.
-Dispersion is 0.290/0.261
–Gun handling is 0.12/0.12/0.08, or 0.1/0.1/0.07 with Vertical Stabilizer.
-Gun depression is -10 degrees
-Shell velocity is 1000/950/950m/s
Overall this gun is amazing in every aspect. It has comfortable alpha, with a quick reload and great DPM. Accuracy, aim time, and gun handling are all very good, which make the gun extremely consistent and reliable at hitting shots, even when still moving. On top of all this, the gun is very flexible, as the Kpz 07 is fairly low profile, and has a very good -10 gun depression.
Shell velocity is quite good, which is nice as this tank sometimes can play a sniper/support role and may need to take long range shots.
The gun has a great choice of ammunition, with high penetration AP, good penetration on its HEAT, and high alpha and increased penetration on its HEP rounds. The HEP rounds boost the DPM to 3508, with 320 alpha and 65mm penetration.
Mobility
-Top speed is 60km/h, reverse is -20km/h
-Traverse speed is 61.16 deg/s on hard terrain, and 50.97 deg/s on medium terrain.
-In game acceleration rate is shown as 23.4 hp/t, it has a strong 828 horsepower engine for its 35 ton weight.
-Actual acceleration rate is 23.4 hp/t on hard terrain, and 19.44 hp/t on medium terrain.
–Ground resistances are 1/1.2/1.5
Overall this is great mobility, especially considering that the Kpz 07 isn’t complete paper, and actually has a bit of decent armour. The top speed is high, with good acceleration on both medium and hard terrain, which let the tank reach that speed fairly easily.
Traverse speed on hard terrain is good, but its fairly mediocre on medium terrain.
Equipment, provisions, & consumables
Kpz 07 RH has no special provisions/consumables.
Gun Rammer/Calibrated Shells:
Either of these is a good choice on this tank.
Gun rammer can work well to let the tank take advantage of that high DPM and quick reload. The tank already has good penetration and amazing accuracy, so doesn’t struggle to penetrate tanks or snipe weakpoints.
Gun rammer would increase the DPM from 2447 up to 2631, and reload time from 5.9s down to 5.5s.
Calibrated shells can also work well, as the Kpz has a great choice of ammo, and it would let you penetrate essentially everything, and make better use of those amazing 320 alpha HEP shells.
Calibrated shells would increase the AP penetration from 218mm up to 229mm, HEAT penetration from 262mm up to 288mm, and HEP penetration from 65mm up to 72mm.
Improved Optics:
Camo net isn’t really useful on this tank, as it isn’t sneaky medium, and isn’t restricted to long range sniping. The tank’s camo rating is also just fairly average.
Improved optics is a much better choice, as the Kpz 07 actually has very good view range for a tier 8 medium tank.
Improved optics would take the view range up from 274.5m to 302m, which is the highest possible view range in tier 8 (without vents), and will let you easily scout enemies from a distance.
Improved Assembly:
Both enhanced armour and improved assembly will benefit this tank, however, improved assembly is generally better on the Kpz 07 RH.
-Enhanced armour will only really benefit the turret of the tank, improving it from 180mm to 187mm in base thickness, or from 185mm up to around 192-195mm in effective thickness. This helps the tank against tier 7 heavies, and those lower penetration tier 8 tanks, with 175-185mm penetration.
-Enhanced armour does also make the hull stronger, but its not as noticeable due to the hull armour being well angled but thinner than the turret, it also only really bounces tier 7 mediums (145-160mm penetration level).
Generally improved assembly is better, since it will help you against every enemy you face, not just the low penetration ones. The Kpz 07 RH is also a fragile tank, its base HP is a fairly low 1350, so without improving this, the tank can’t actually take many hits in battle (and this tank needs to sometimes take hits to use its DPM or trade damage).
Improved assembly increases this somewhat low HP of 1350 up to a more decent 1431.
Vertical Stabilizer/Refined Gun:
All aspects of the Kpz’s accuracy stats are already very good, and it is able to benefit from both of these equipment pieces.
Refined gun is better if you want to really maximize the amazing accuracy of the tank, reducing the dispersion from 0.290 to 0.261. This will let you hit more shots when at long ranges, or when your tank is stopped and fully aimed in. This can be good if you constantly flank enemies and find yourself shooting from across the map.
Vertical stabilizer is better in a more active playstyle where you constantly move the tank around the map, circle enemies, get in brawls, flank behind/around enemy lines, etc. This equipment piece makes the gun more consistent when the tank is moving and when its aiming in just after moving. Its very useful if you don’t have time to fully aim every shot.
Gameplay advice
The Kpz 07 RH is a bit like a tier 8 version of the Leopard 1, but with a bit more armour. Its fast with great accuracy and high DPM, and fairly light armour (but not useless).
This tank can play 2 roles depending on what enemy it faces. When top tier, it can be a bit more aggressive, and play a bit more of a usual medium role. When bottom tier, its armour doesn’t work, so it will play more of a supporting role.
General gameplay:
When against tier 7 tanks or facing a low penetration tier 8, it can play a more frontline and brawling role, as it has decent hull and turret armour, and can quite easily out-DPM most enemies it comes against.
Against lower tier enemies you can play much more aggressively, since you will be able to get good use out of the hull and turret armour of the tank, and also generally be able to out trade enemies in alpha damage.
In a top tier match, its a viable option to rush early positions, such as the middle area on Canyon, or rush into the supremacy cap circle to get a base.
However, if you’re facing tier 9 enemies, you have to be more careful to take such maneuvers, as your armour won’t work, and your alpha/DPM are now at far less of an advantage.
When against higher penetration tier 8 tanks, or tier 9 tanks, the Kpz plays very much like a Leopard, relying purely on its good mobility and gun to carry it through the battle, as these enemies would have no issue penetrating the tank. When facing these enemies, treat the tank like it has no armour and won’t bounce anything.
Avoid taking damage:
This tank has a bit of armour, but play it like it has no armour.
The Kpz’s turret is only reliable against low penetration tier 7-8 tanks, and the hull is only reliable against the lowest penetration tier 7 tanks. Even against these, it still has a weak lower plate, and various turret weakpoints.
Its better to play the tank like it has no armour and avoid taking damage, this will help you to conserve the HP of the tank better, and make it easier to reach the late game stages where the gun and mobility of the tank can really shine.
The armour also just doesn’t work against the majority of tier 8 tanks and all tier 9 tanks, so if you rely on the armour too much, you may get caught out and take unnecessary damage by these tanks.
Use gun depression:
Try to use gun depression whenever possible. It improves the turret armour slightly, and greatly improves the hull frontal armour. Using gun depression just makes the armour better overall, and forces enemies to aim properly.
Even against enemies who can penetrate your tank easily, gun depression positions benefit your tank. These enemies will have to avoid aiming for your strong hull (which can reach almost 290mm thick), and the gun depression position also reduces your size profile, as enemies can’t shoot the hull.
When using gun depression positions, never sit still. If you sit still, it lets enemies easily hit your turret. If they can’t penetrate, then it gives them time to aim for your weak roof or gun area. Try to only expose the turret when you’re reloaded, and after shooting immediately pull into cover.
Take advantage of your ammo types:
Though the Kpz’s ammo may not seem that special, utilizing it properly in battle will greatly improve your performance in the tank.
-AP is useful for any situation, it can penetrate through tracks, spaced armour, it can overmatch 29mm plates, it has good shell velocity (1000m/s) for long range shots, and great penetration with 5 degrees normalization. This is a great standard round to have, especially with the amazing accuracy of the tank.
-HEAT is best against well armoured targets, 262mm of penetration is quite good for a medium, and can deal with most enemies you face, even higher tier ones. Its also perfect for going through thin auto-ricochet plates (like on the SU-130PM), or long range sniping, as it doesn’t lose any penetration over long distance.
-HE is the most situational and hardest shell to use. Unlike other tier 8 HEP or HESH ammo, it only has 65mm of penetration, so it only really works against the sides of mediums or the rears of heavy tanks. This shell boosts your alpha to 320, and gives the tank 3508 DPM, which just lets it shred any target it can penetrate.
Overall the Kpz’s gameplay quite resembles a Leopard 1, or a similar sort of tank to that. It generally relies on its great speed and amazing gun in its gameplay, and less on its armour profile.
It has some decent armour against low penetration tanks, but its still best to try not rely on it.
Overall
Armour – 4.5/10
Gun – 9/10
Mobility – 7.5/10
Speed – 9/10
Kpz 07 RH is overall a great tank.
Armour is decent, its good against lower tier tanks and some same tier tanks, but weak to any tank with over 200mm AP penetration. HE protection is good from all sides. Hull sides weak to big caliber HE.
Gun is superb, great accuracy, aim time, gun handling, penetration, DPM, and ammo selection. Gun depression is very good at -10. Alpha damage is decent at 240.
Mobility is good. Engine power and acceleration are both good, but traverse is mediocre, especially on medium terrain. Reverse speed is average.
Speed is very good at 60km/h.
Is it worth getting?
The Kpz 07 RH is worth getting if you enjoy mediums, as it offers the perfect combination of stats for a good medium. Its also a fairly unique tank in tier 8, as even though there are similar 90mm tanks, but none really have the amazing gun of the Kpz 07, or the decent armour and good speed combination.
Its a tank which medium tank players should be able to really enjoy due to what it offers as an overall package. Its got a great gun, great ammo choice, good mobility, and not-terrible armour.
The Kpz 07 RH is worth 9,000 gold. Its a great tank with some interesting traits to make its gameplay different from other mediums in the tier. Its not the new best medium, it its a very good tank with fairly novel gameplay and traits.
Its not an easy tank for newer players to play, but skilled medium tank players should really enjoy this tank.
