Armour

vs 182mm AP
-Upper plate 445mm (weakpoint 195mm)
-Lower plate 190mm
-Turret 110-175mm

vs 250mm HEAT
Using -12 gun depression:
-Upper plate 445mm (weakpoint 108mm)
-Turret 105-210mm

In this image, the Lupus is able to hide the weakpoints

VS tier 6:
-There are basically no weakpoints against tier 6 enemies. Only the turret which has 2 small weakpoints on the cheeks can be penetrated by tier 6 tanks.

VS tier 7:
-In tier 7 enemies will be able to penetrate the turret more reliably, but there aren’t any other weakpoints as the lower plate is very strong and the upper plates are auto-ricochet angles.

VS tier 8:
-In tier 8 the turret will be easily penetrated by nearly every tank that can hit the cheeks (since the mantlet is huge). The lower plate will still be very strong to a few of the lower pen medium and light tanks, but otherwise that’s also fairly weak unless angled.
The upper plate is still an auto-ricochet, so unless they hit the weakpoints then nothing can penetrate the upper plate.

Gun

The Lupus has a 120mm gun
-Reload time is 13.1s, damage is 400, giving it 1839 DPM
-Penetration is 175/217/61 on AP, APCR, and HE
-Aim time is 4.7s/5.1s and dispersion is 0.407/0.367 depending on equipment. Aim time is decent but dispersion is very bad
Gun handling is average for a tier 7 heavy with 400 damage, having 0.24/0.24/0.12 or with vertical stabilizer its 0.2/0.2/0.1
-Gun depression is a phenomenal -12, which is better than any other heavy tank in tier 7-10

The gun is just average for tier 7, DPM is slightly lower than other 400 dmg heavies, but its made up for by better aim time and amazing gun depression.

Mobility

-Top speed is a decent 36km/h, reverse speed is -12km/h
-Acceleration is very good for such a heavily armoured tank, with 14.6hp/t on hard terrain and 11.5hp/t on medium terrain.
-Traverse speed less impressive, having 34.6 deg/s on hard terrain and 27.2 deg/s on medium terrain.
Terrain resistances are decent, with 1.1/1.4/1.8

Equipment, provisions, & consumables

Lupus has no special consumables/provisions

Vertical Stabilizer:
This is needed as the Lupus is a close-combat brawler. Its not a heavy that should be staying on the 2nd line to fight, and will therefore need the better gun handling.

Gameplay advice

Due to its armour, the Lupus can be played very aggressively in tier 6-7 battles. Basically nothing can penetrate the tank frontally, and enemies will even struggle when using premium ammunition. In tier 7-8 battles, the tank shouldn’t be played as aggressively, since most tier 8s will have no trouble against the turret and lower plate of the tank.

Don’t rely on your armour too heavily. While Lupus has a very strong upper and lower plate, the turret has various weakspots which are easy to penetrate. This needs to be taken into account when playing the tank.

Use the -12 gun depression whenever possible. Its the main reason to play the Lupus over a Lycan or an IS tank, and its one of the stats that makes the Lupus so unique. since the gun is mounted so high on the turret, you wont even be exposing much of the tank.

Due to the rear mounted turret, the tank can sidescrape quite well, if there’s an opportunity to, then do it.

Overall

Overall the tank has great hull armour, the turret is less impressive but still very troll. The gun is decent overall but the main feature is the gun depression. The Top speed is quite good for its armour, and acceleration of Lupus is very impressive, however traverse speed is quite slow.

Is it worth getting?

Lupus is worth getting if you think its a tank you will play a lot. While its very unique, it doesn’t have the most exciting gameplay.
The tank is never sold for gold and can only be bought with real currency.
