Armour

vs 110mm AP (left image) 144mm APCR (right image)
-Lower plate 118mm
-Upper plate 120mm
-Turret 138mm

vs 110mm AP
Unlike Excelsior, the Medjay can sidescrape to a degree, since its side armour is a much stronger 47mm, with an additional 15mm of spaced armour.
Even if you shoot the drive wheel at this angle, it will only break the track, and not do damage.
Similar to the Excelsior, the Medjay can be very confident in its armour when facing tier 4 and 5 tanks.
-Since the armour is mainly flat, shell normalization has no effect on the armour, so even tanks with 125mm of penetration will struggle against the upper plate of the Medjay.
-The most common tanks you will face that have a chance to penetrate your hull are the Chi-Nu, T-34, and T1 Heavy, which have 124-128mm of pen. Though if you run enhanced armour even these tanks have no chance of penetration. BDR G1 B has 135mm of pen, so it can penetrate the hull, but not the turret.
Most tier 6 tanks will be able to penetrate the Medjay’s upper and lower plate, but many medium and light tanks will still bounce off the turret.
The Medjay has no frontal weakpoint, so tier 4 are unable to do anything against it, and will need premium ammo. Tier 5 tanks will face the same result, but tier 6 tanks will go through the Medjay’s armour with relative ease.
Gun depression armour
The Medjay does have -10 gun depression, though it does not make much difference to the armour as its flat.
Using the full -10 gun depression, the hull and turret armour increase by about 2mm.
Rear armour:
The Medjay does not have the strong rear armour of the Excelsior, its rear is only 44mm thick, so it can be penetrated by some tanks’ HE shells.
Gun
Medjay has an autoloading 75mm gun.
-It has 110 alpha, and shoots out 4 shots. It has a 14.6s reload for 1280 DPM.
-Intra-clip reload is 2s, so the Medjay can burst out 440 damage in 6s.
-Penetration is 110mm on AP, 144mm on APCR, and 38mm on HE
-Aim time is 3.1s/3.4s, its just average for tier 5.
-Dispersion is 0.416/0.375, which is quite poor.
–Gun handling is 0.22/0.22/0.08, and it can be improved to 0.19/0.19/0.07 with Vertical Stabilizer. Better than average for a tier 5 heavy tank.
-Gun depression is very good with -10 degrees.
Overall this gun average. Its alpha is low, but has 4 shells to make up for that. Intra-clip reload and overall clip reload are both fast, and gun depression is very good.
Aim time is fast, and it has very good dispersion-on-turret-traverse (0.08/0.07). Penetration is also not bad, but its nothing special.
Accuracy is quite poor, and gun handling on-movement (0.22) and on-traverse (0.22) are both average.
Mobility
-Top speed is a decent 35km/h, reverse speed is fairly average at -12km/h
-Acceleration is good with 13.3hp/t on hard terrain, and 10.8hp/t on medium terrain.
-Traverse speed quite slow at 30.5 deg/s on hard terrain and 24.6 deg/s on medium terrain.
-Ground resistances a good 1.1/1.3/1.7
The Medjay has decent mobility for a tier 5 heavy tank. Its top speed is completely average, its acceleration is quite good compared to other heavies, but it turns slowly.
Equipment, provisions, & consumables
Medjay has no special provisions/consumables.
Calibrated Shells:
Though the Medjay doesn’t struggle with penetration, calibrated shells will be the much more useful choice in tier 5, where you constantly face strong tier 6 tanks.
The tank won’t lose much DPM by doing this, and DPM isn’t one of the tank’s main strengths, so calibrated shells is a better choice.
Improved ventilation will also work well on this tank.
Enhanced armour:
Medjay has 800 base HP, this doesn’t need to be increased as its already one of the higher HP tanks of tier 5. One of the best parts of this tank is its strong frontal armour, so use enhanced armour to increase that.
Using enhanced armour would make the upper plate & lower plate 125mm thick (5mm increase), and the turret 144mm thick (6mm increase).
Vertical Stabilizer:
The gun handling of the Medjay is decent, though its still not good enough to warrant using refined gun. Vertical stabilizer is necessary as Medjay is an active, frontline heavy tank. It will be constantly moving so it needs improved stabilization.
Gameplay Advice
The Medjay has very simple gameplay. It just uses its armour, gun depression, and 4 shell clip on the frontline of the battlefield. If you’ve played autoloaders before then you’ll know exactly what to do, if you haven’t played them before then this is by far one of the friendliest autoloaders a new player could get.
To use the armour well, you need to have some knowledge of the enemy’s penetration. Most tier 6 tanks (especially heavy tanks) can penetrate you easily, even on the turret. Other than the BDR G1 B, only tank destroyers can penetrate the front , and almost no tier 4 has enough penetration to deal with the Medjay.
Don’t overexpose in order to dump the clip. Since Medjay has 4 shells, it takes 6 seconds to unload. In some situations, its better to just reload your magazine than to chase an enemy into where you’re vulnerable to get damaged unnecessarily. Don’t only focus on emptying the magazine, focus on the whole situation; keep in cover and reload if there are no shots you can take.
Try to use gun depression and hulldown positions whenever possible. Though the hull has no weakpoints (given that enemies have about 120mm penetration), the turret is even stronger, and using the full -10 gun depression would help to slightly increase that armour.
Is it worth getting?
Considering how the Medjay is based on one of the best tier 5 tanks, the Excelsior; and it was given stronger armour and an autoloader, its definitely worth having.
Autoloaders in tier 5 are rare, let alone on a heavy tank with 4 shells. It makes it one of the most unique tier 5 tanks, with one of the most interesting styles of gameplay.
If there is a chance to get your hands on this tank, its definitely worth it.
Tank cost:
Medjay was available in the “Secret of the Lost Pyramid” event, for 30 victorious battles.
As its a Halloween event tank, its not available outside of the original event and Halloween crates.
