The T26E3 Eagle 7 is a USA tier 7 “medium” tank. When top tier its more of a heavium, having decent hull & turret armour, decent mobility, and a good gun. When bottom tier its armour is weaker but it still has a great gun mantlet and can play as a support medium.

Armour
(The Eagle 7 in the images is using Enhanced Armour)

vs 142mm AP (tier 6 MT penetration)
Flat ground:
Upper plate 140mm
Lower plate 145mm
Turret & cupola 125mm
Gun mantlet 280mm
-Angling makes the upper plate even stronger against tier 6 enemies. At the angle shown in the bottom image, the upper plate is roughly 150mm thick.
-Note that the tank in the images has slightly stronger armour than the values stated above, as its using enhanced armour.

vs 160mm AP (tier 7 MT penetration)
Flat ground:
Armour is same as stated above.
vs 160mm AP
Using -10 gun depression:
Upper plate 170mm
Turret 135mm
Gun mantlet 280mm
(The Eagle 7 in the images is using Enhanced Armour)
VS tier 6:Â
The upper plate of the Eagle 7 will be quite hard for most tier 6 tanks to penetrate, especially if angling.
The lower plate and turret cheeks are both weak, but the gun mantlet is impenetrable to any tier 6 tank.
VS tier 7:Â
In tier 7 the upper plate will only be red against enemy medium tanks, and if using gun depression. Tier 7 heavies have enough penetration to go through the upper plate even if its using gun depression.
The gun mantlet is still impenetrable to all tier 7 tanks, but the turret cheeks are weak.
VS tier 8:
In tier 8 the hull has no armour whatsoever against every tank you face.
The gun mantlet is still extremely strong, the only tanks in tier 8 that can penetrate it are TDs when firing premium ammo. Every MT, LT, and HT will still bounce off the gun mantlet, but can easily penetrate the cheeks.
Gun
Eagle 7 mounts a 90mm gun
-Alpah damage is 225 on AP, 190 on premium AP, and 270 on HE
-Reload time is 6.4s, giving it 2110 DPM
-Penetration on AP is 160mm, premium AP is 202mm, and HE is 45mm.Â
-Estimated aim time is 3.5s/3.8s
-Base aim time is 2.1s, but it can get down to 1.71s
-Dispersion is 0.335/0.301
–Gun handling is 0.17/0.17/0.08 or, 0.14/0.14/0.07 with Vertical Stabilizer.
-Gun depression is -10 degrees
Overall this is a decent gun. For a tier 7 medium its slightly below average in DPM, and its gun handling is poor. However it does have good base aim time with decent accuracy and penetration.
Mobility
-Top speed is 42km/h, and reverse speed is -21km/h.
-Traverse speed is 50.3 deg/s on hard terrain and 42.6 deg/s on medium terrain.
-In game acceleration rate is shown as 18.7 hp/t, it has decent 736hp engine for its 39 ton weight.
-Actual acceleration is 17hp/t on hard terrain and 14.4hp/t on medium.
–Terrain resistances are not great with 1.1/1.3/2.1
The Eagle 7 by far the least mobile tier 7 medium, but overall its mobility isn’t bad. The most noticeable aspect is the traverse speed, which is quite slow. The top speeds are decent, and the acceleration is also just decent.Â
The tank doesn’t feel fast, but it also doesn’t feel limited.
Equipment, provisions, & consumables
Eagle 7 has Improved Engine Power Boost.
This consumable should be used in place of the small repair kit. Adrenaline is needed, since this tank has low DPM, multi purpose repair kit is also needed to repair the tank, and the speed boost is needed to reach positions fast or get out of situations.
This consumable also can provide good opportunities to ram lighter enemies.
When using Improved Engine Power Boost, the Eagle 7 will have:
47km/h top speed forward, -31km/h top speed in reverse
33.9 hp/t raw acceleration rate (up from 18.7hp/t)
Traverse speed is also increased, but its exact amount isn’t clear.
Gun Rammer:
The Eagle 7 has low DPM for its tier, so it can’t afford to lower it even more. The tank also doesn’t have any HEAT or high penetration HE to warrant using calibrated shells. The Eagle 7’s primary ammo types are both AP, which gain very little benefit from calibrated shells.
As the Eagle 7 has quite average penetration for its tier, it doesn’t often struggle with penetrating enemy tanks, unless they are tier 8 enemies (Which most tier 7 tanks struggle to penetrate. Tier 7 is just a low penetration tier.)
Its better to use gun rammer instead. This gives the tank semi-competitive DPM in tier 7, as it has quite high alpha for a medium tank. With gun rammer, the DPM is 2110, with a 6.4s reload. This can allow the tank to perform well in brawls and fights against enemy mediums, where high DPM is needed.
Improved Assembly:
While enhanced armour does benefit the tank, its only against tier 6 enemies. Improved assembly will benefit the tank against all enemies.
Enhanced armour will make your upper plate’s effective thickness from 139mm up to 144mm. The difference isn’t big, but it can stop some higher penetration tier 6 mediums from penetrating your hull (such as the Panzer IV S).
This only really benefits the tank when its in a top tier battle.
Improved assembly will be better to use when facing tier 7 and 8 tanks, because even if the armour is enhanced, your hull will still not bounce any tier 7 or 8 enemies.
Improved assembly will increase the decent 1200 HP up to 1272 HP.
Vertical Stabilizer:
Due to the poor gun handling of the Eagle 7, vertical stabilizer is mandatory on this tank. The Eagle 7 is a medium tank, so its playing actively and on the frontline or 2nd line. The tank will constantly moving, and will rarely every be sitting still and sniping from a distance.
Considering that the gun’s accuracy is actually already pretty good, there is no benefit to using refined gun. Vertical stabilizer will be far better, as it will make the Eagle 7 far more consistent and accurate in its playstyle.
Consumable Delivery System:
As the Eagle 7 has improved engine power boost, and the tank isn’t particularly fast, you will find yourself wanting to use this consumable quite often.
In the situations where the tank needs this consumable, a longer duration is usually not necessary. The main benefit the consumable gives will be the increased reverse speed and increased engine power, and these usually give the tank enough time to get into/out of the desired scenario.
CDS will allow the Eagle 7 to easily use the consumable multiple times in battle, which can be crucial to winning the game, since this consumable is a game changer on less mobile tanks such as the Eagle 7. CDS also benefits all consumables you use on the tank, whereas the alternative equipment choice does not.
Gameplay advice
The Eagle 7 plays in pretty much the same way whether its a top tier tank or a bottom tier tank. The difference will be in how much aggression you can use in the gameplay.
The Eagle 7 is a “standard/generic medium”. It has a bit of everything, but doesn’t specialize in anything, a “Jack-of-all-trades, master of none” kind of tank.
General gameplay:
The Eagle 7 should always be played on the medium tank side of the map, as mediums have less penetration, HP, and armour than heavies, and the Eagle 7 is much better suited to playing against mediums.
Against tier 6 enemies, especially MT, you can play quite aggressively. Your tank has good hull armour against these enemies, and your gun has good alpha and DPM. Keep turning and angling your hull armour to try get bounces, and you can ram most enemies as they weigh less than the 39.4t weight of the Eagle 7.
If you are faced against mainly tier 7 enemies, your hull armour is still decent, but not on flat ground. Using gun depression and angling will help to get bounces. Your DPM is low in tier 7, so be careful of getting into 1v1 fights with enemy mediums, and make sure to keep allied support as this tank can’t hold a position very well if its on its own.
In tier 8 battles Eagle 7 needs to be payed quite passively, supporting higher tier medium tanks. Your penetration will not be enough against most heavy tanks so its best to try and avoid fighting them frontally. Don’t be afraid of spamming premium AP against higher tier enemies, that’s just standard tier 7 gameplay.
Hide the hull:
Since the gun mantlet is so large and strong, the Eagle 7 can actually still get quite a lot of bounces from any enemy when the hull is hidden.
Try to keep the tank moving back and fourth or left/right, as this will make it harder for enemies to aim for the weak turret cheeks or cupola, and gives a higher chance that they bounce off the mantlet.
Use your consumables:
Especially your speed boosting consumable, as this one can get you into early positions, or get out of difficult situations.
As the mobility of the Eagle 7 isn’t the most impressive, this consumable can literally be a life saver. It can almost instantly boost you up to 47km/h, or allow you to reverse out at -31km/h.
Don’t use it unnecessarily, but also don’t be afraid of using it, its really an essential part of the Eagle 7’s gameplay.
Basically just play the Eagle 7 as a standard and generic medium. Go to the MT flank, use gun depression, trade shots with enemies, and flank around the enemy team when possible. Its a standard tank with standard gameplay, its fairly easy to get the hang of.
Overall
Armour – 6/10
Gun – 5/10
Mobility – 4.5/10
Speed – 4/10
T26E3 Eagle 7 is overall a decent tank.
Armour is very strong on the gun mantlet, and decent on the upper plate. Its weak to tier 8 tanks, but is well protected from HE.
Gun has decent aim time, penetration, and alpha damage, but mediocre gun handling and accuracy. Gun depression is great.
Mobility is decent, with slightly low acceleration, decent traverse speeds, and great reverse speed.
Speed is below-average, with 42km/h.
Is it worth getting?
Eagle 7 is a decent tank, but if you already have any tier 8 American medium tank or heavy tank, this isn’t worth getting. It plays just like a tier 8 T26E4/T26E5.
This tank has been given out in events for free multiple times. As a free tank, it is a worthy reward.
The Eagle 7 is worth 3,000 gold. Its a decent tank and is quite unique in tier 7; however, overall its not that special nor interesting.
Note that the Eagle 7 is one of only 2 tanks in the game that makes increased free XP. It has a double free XP coefficient compared to other tanks, making 10% instead of the usual 5%.
