Tank types (economy)

Tank types in terms of their economy (credit/xp earning ability) are extremely confusing. There are many overlapping lines between what is what.

This page will try to explain what each different type is, just note that some tanks fit in to multiple of these categories, while another tank with the “same status” may not.

IMPORTANT:
Note that the word “status” may be used a lot on this page. In this case the “status” will be referring to what the tank is shown as in-game, and not what it actually is (which is what this page will hopefully explain).

There are 3 tank statuses in game:
Premium- Shown as gold highlight, tank can be sold for credits
Collector- Shown as blue highlight, tank can be sold for gold
Tech tree- Shown as silver highlight. When enriched will glow with gold colour. Tank sells for 50% of cost.

  4. Enriched tech tree tank
  5. Premium tank
  6. Reward tank
  7. Enriched Reward Tanks
  8. XP coefficients

Summarised version:

The corresponding credit coefficient range is also given. Note that this number is general, there are a few outliers and exceptions which aren’t in that number range.

1- Tech tree/Elite tank. These make standard credits, elite status must be grinded for.
30-120% (Any tech tree tank)

2- Premium status reward tank. These make standard credits but have the premium status in game.
81% (M60 is the only one)

3- Collector status reward tank. These make standard credits but have collector status in game
81-106% (T-22 Medium, Kuromorimine, Nightmare, and all old tech tree tanks)

4- Enriched tank. These make enriched credits, 130-160% coefficient.
130-160% (Any tech tree tank)

5- Premium status enriched reward tank: These make enriched credits but have the premium status in game.
120-150% (Chieftain Mk.6, 121B, K-91, Kpfpz 70, AMX 30 1er, T 55A, Tiger 131)

6- Collector status enriched reward tank: These make enriched credits, but have the collector status in game.
120-150% (T95E6, AMX 30B, Obj. 752, WZ-114, P43/06, Firefly SP)

7- Premium tank: These make premium credits and have the premium status in game.
150-190%+ (IS-5, Löwe, E25, Type 59, TOG II*, Krupp 38 (D), T6E1)

8- Collector status premium tank: These make premium credits but have the collector status in game.
150-190%+ (Predator UM, Gravedigger, Pravda IS-2, Pz IV Hydr, SU-76I, Pz II J, BT-7 Artillery, Battlepass tanks)

Credit Coefficient

This is an extremely important aspect of each tanks’ different economy. This number is what allows a tank to make credits, and determines how much a tank makes in battle.

In a battle you spend credits (ammo, consumables, provisions), and you also make credits (damage, assistance, etc). The credit coefficient takes what you “make” in battle, and multiplies it by that number.

Credit coefficient increases with tier (Generally. Sometimes there are outliers). So what is considered a “good” coefficient is different in each tier. The coefficient stops increasing at tier 8, tier 9-10 tech tree tanks have the worse profitability due to more expensive consumables, provisions, and shells.

-In tiers 2-4 you’ll notice far more tanks with 30-70% coefficient, and in tiers 7-8 there are few with less than 80%.
-Similarly there are far more “premiums” (premiums but with collector status) in tiers 2-4 120-135%, in tiers 7-8 there are none with less than 150%.

Tech tree/Elite tank

“Regular” tech tree status:
Tech tree tanks are the basic tank. They don’t make crew training (until reaching 100% crew), they don’t earn additional credits, you can’t convert their combat XP into free XP (until elite), and you have to research modules.

Tech tree tanks can gradually upgrade their status:
Once reaching 100% crew, tech tree tanks can grind crew XP for training crew skills.
Once researching all modules, and all succeeding tanks in the tech tree, the tank gains the elite status.

Elite status:
All tanks in game have elite status or can achieve elite status (tech tree tanks).

Elite status gives a tank the ability to:
-Grind crew XP to train crew skills
-The ability to change combat XP into free XP (using gold)
-The ability to change combat XP into crew XP (with credits, up to crew skill lvl 5)

Elite status on tech tree tanks is gained after researching all modules, and all succeeding tanks. So in the case of tanks like the Tiger (P), you would have to research all of its 5 modules, and the 3 tanks that come after it (VK 100.01 (P), VK 45.02 (P) A, and Ferdinand) in order to achieve elite status.

Elite status is shown by what’s meant to be a bow of leaves around the tank’s class icon. Non-elite tanks will just have their class icon (HT, LT, LT, TD).

Enriched tech tree tank

Enrichment increases your credit making ability in a tech tree tank.

Permanent enrichment can be done for tiers 5-8

Temporary enrichment can be done for tiers 5-10

Enrichment brings your tanks credit making ability up from its original value to a value between 130% to 160%. (Some tier 5 tanks get up to 180%)

Note that enrichment generally does not go up to the level of premium tanks in that tier. (For example, most enriched tier 7 tanks don’t go over 150%. Most tier 7 premiums have a 150% coefficient).
Enrichment also never reaches the credit level of premiums in tier 8, which is the best tier for credit grinding

All permanent enrichment prices are different, as each tech tree tank has different credit coefficient.

Tank enrichment is not advised. Its generally a waste of gold, especially considering how cheap you can buy a real premium tank (tier 5s can cost as low as 1,500 gold; tier 8s as low as 4,000 gold).
Permanent enrichment can be extremely expensive, and its not worth doing when you could just buy a proper premium.

Premium tank

Tanks with the real premium status have a proper credit coefficient and make the best credits in their tier.

Premium tanks are tanks which do everything shown in the image above. However since most other tanks (including elite tech tree tanks) can do what premiums do, their main feature is having a “premium credit coefficient”.

Premium credit coefficients range from around 145% up to 226%, and this “premium coefficient” is generally 10-30% higher than enriched and reward tanks of the respective tier.
(The coefficient ranges can overlap, but its only when taking the highest and comparing it to the lowest)

On this site premium tanks may sometimes be called “real premiums” so as not to be confused with the fake one (the ones that use premium icon but don’t have real premium credit coefficient)

Important note:
-Some premium tanks have been converted into collector tanks since its introduction. They kept their premium coefficients, but now can be sold for gold. Some examples would be old low tier premiums (T2 Light, T7 Car, Valentine II, SU-76I, etc), and some mid-tier tanks (Gravedigger, Predator UM, Vindicator UM, etc).
-Battlepass tanks also have a premium credit coefficient (all have 145%), though their status in game is collector.

Reward tank

Reward tanks are non-tech tree tanks that don’t make extra credits (standard credits). They have a credit coefficient on the same level as tech tree tanks.

Other than old tech tree tanks, there are only 4 tanks that are “reward” and make standard credits:

-M60 (81%) is the only premium status reward tank which makes standard credits
-T-22 Medium (81%), Kuromorimine (94%), and Nightmare (106%)are the only collector status tanks which make standard credits.

Enriched Reward Tanks

Enriched reward tanks are reward tanks that make credits on the same level as an enriched tank, which is 120-160%.
In-game these tanks are shown with the icons of premium or collector tanks, but they DO NOT have the premium status. This is why they are reward tanks, but they are “enriched”.

Enriched reward tanks include all tier 9-10 non-tech tree tanks (except T-22 and M60), the Tiger 131, and quite a few collector tanks from tiers 5-10.

Enriched reward tank subtypes:

Premium status enriched reward tank:
A reward tank which makes credits like an enriched tank, but has the premium status in game.
Tank sells for credits.

Collector status enriched tank:
A reward tank which makes credits like an enriched tank, but has the collector status in game.
Tank sells for gold.

XP coefficients

Only 2 tanks in the game have increased XP coefficients:

T26E3 Eagle 7 earns extra free XP, 10% instead of the 5% that all other tanks have.

Churchill III earns extra base XP, meaning its combat XP, crew XP, and free XP are all increased. It is unknown how much more the Churchill III earns, but its roughly 1.5-3 times more than other tanks.
