Default armour (left image), Activated armour (right image)
(The Titan-54d in the images is using Enhanced Armour)
Note that all these images are against 225mm AP (tier 8 HT standard ammo), the usual 265mm APCR (tier 8 HT premium ammo) is not shown because it makes no difference to the armour images.
The only difference of using prammo against this tank is that its turret will be easier to penetrate when armour is not activated.
Due to the thickness and angling of the armour, most APCR of tier 8 can’t go through the spaced armour areas, since the standard APCR penetration in tier 8 is from 240-297mm. Only the upper bracket of that (280-297mm) can go through the upper plate, even then they cant penetrate the turret.
HEAT is ineffective against spaced armour, so it just won’t penetrate.
VS tier 7:
Un-activated:
Many mediums and lights will struggle to penetrate the lower plate spaced armour and even the base upper plate. Turret is impenetrable, and the flat sides are nearly impenetrable to most enemies.
Heavy tanks will go through the lower plate easier, but turret will still be very strong.
Activated:
Lower plate will be harder to penetrate, base upper plate (weaker area) will be harder to hit, turret will be impossible to penetrate to most enemies without hitting the hatches. High penetration heavy tanks can penetrate between the spaced armour and gun, but its a very small weakpoint.
Side armour will be more consistent but less troll, so it will be better to sidescrape but not to get bounces when flat-on.
VS tier 8:
Un-activated:
The turret can be penetrated on the cheeks by enemies with 225mm AP penetration (shown above), but its easy to miss and hit the red areas.
Upper plate spaced armour cant be penetrated, but base armour can. Lower plate is easily penetrated.
Sides are still troll.
Activated:
The turret is impenetrable unless enemies hit the hatches or right next to the gun.
The hull’s weakpoint is much harder to hit as the spaced armour forms a pike nose. The lower plate is slightly stronger but still easily penetrated.
The side armour becomes effective for sidescraping, as long as enemies don’t shoot the track wheel.
VS tier 9:
Facing tier 9 enemies will receive the same results as facing tier 8 enemies, but more tanks can easily penetrate the turret when the armour is in the default state. Since most tier 9 tanks fire HEAT as premium ammo, many will still find it useless against the Titan. Only HT that use APCR will pose a threat to the Titan’s spaced armour.

Side armour vs 225mm AP
Here it is shown in the default state.
The tank is over-angled.
Side armour:
The side armour is split into 4 sections: the base thickness, the upper area (with 50mm angled spaced armour), the mid area (with 50mm + 50mm flat spaced armour), and the lower area (covered by 20mm tracks and wheels).
The one of the 50mm spaced armour plates moves from the mid area to the lower area when the consumable is activated, this actually makes a big difference on the side armour of the tank. You can also see this using the above image comparison.
The side armour is most effective when it is activated, and the tank can do some effective angling and/or sidescraping.
Un-activated (default):
Upper area: 140mm
Mid area: 155mm
Lower area: 75mm
Activated:
Upper area: 140mm
Mid area: 105mm
Lower area: 125mm
Gun
The Titan-54D mounts a 100mm gun
-Reload time is 8.7s for 310 alpha, giving it 2145 DPM.
-Penetration is very high, 207mm on AP, 270mm on HEAT, and 50mm on HE.
-Aim time is 3.2/3.4s, which is very good for this alpha
-Dispersion is 0.335/0.301
-Gun handling is 0.14/0.14/0.07, or 0.12/0.12/0.06 with Vertical Stabilizer.
-Gun depression is -5 degrees over the upper plate, and -7 degrees off the upper plate.
Overall this gun is by far one of the best on any tier 8 medium tank. It has everything, good alpha damage, great accuracy and aim time for that alpha, very good standard penetration and amazing HEAT penetration. The gun depression is also good, -5 is average for this type of tank in tier 8-9, but this gets -7 degrees when off the upper plate.
Its a very reliable and comfortable gun.
Using HE:
Its best to avoid shooting HE on this tank if you think you may miss the penetration area or if the enemies might have a spall liner.
The HE damage of this tank is 350, which is only 40 higher than on AP, this is quite a poor damage increase. If you penetrate an enemy using spall liner (which gives -20% HE damage), your HE damage would be an average of 280, less than the AP damage.
Its best to only shoot HE at tanks which you know you can easily penetrate, and don’t have access to spall liner (tanks like the SU-130PM, Skorpion G, or T49).
Mobility
-Top speed is quite low, 45km/h forwards, and -18km/h in reverse
-Acceleration rate decent, 18.7 hp/t on hard terrain, and 15.6 hp/t on medium terrain.
-Traverse speed is very high, 72.6 deg/s on hard terrain, and 60.5 deg/s on medium terrain.
–Terrain resistances are very good, with 1/1.2/1.5
While its mobility stats may seem unimpressive, when playing the tank it really doesn’t feel any slower than similar medium tanks (T-44, T-44-100, T-54 Mod.1, T-34-3). In fact its quite mobile since its traverse speed is so good, and acceleration is decent, the top speed doesn’t hold it back at all.
Equipment, provisions, & consumables
The Titan-54d has the Dynamic Armour System consumable.
Use the consumable. If you don’t put the consumable on the tank, you can’t activate its armour, which is arguably the biggest selling point of the tank. Its pointless to have the tank and not use the consumable.
Gun Rammer:
The Titan has plenty of penetration, so taking calibrated shells on this tank would be a terrible choice. The DPM is fairly low for a medium tank though, so the gun rammer will be very useful. Most mediums have high DPM, so lowering it on this tank would be detrimental to its ability to output damage, especially when it doesn’t need higher penetration.
Improved Assembly/Enhanced Armour:
Either equipment choice can work on the Titan.Â
The tank has a decent 1380 base HP, using improved assembly would give it 1463 HP.
Enhanced armour would give the tank better armour, which would benefit the fairly weak but well angled turret, and the many spaced armour plates on the tank.
Vertical Stabilizer:
As the Titan is a medium tank, it will constantly be moving, so it would benefit much more from vertical stabilizer. The tank already has quite good accuracy of 0.335 even without refined gun, so that equipment piece is not needed.
Gameplay advice
The gameplay of the Titan-54d is like a T-54 mixed with a T-44, its armour isn’t quite on the level of the T-54, but its better than the T-44. Its gun depression isn’t quite as bad 5- all round (like a T-54), but not quite as good as the -7 all round that the T-44 has. The gun has the reliability of both of those tanks, and the Titan is slower than both.
If you have played either the T-44 or T-54, or any related tank (T-44-100, T-54 Mod.1, Type 59, Obj.274a), then you will be immediately used to the gameplay of the Titan-54d.
It plays very similarly to the above mentioned tanks, but in place of higher DPM, it has penetration and alpha; and in place of higher top speed, it has better all round armour.
The only real big difference to the gameplay compared to a typical medium tank will be its slower nature, it can keep up with other tanks, will gradually fall behind after longer periods of time since its speed is capped at 45km, and it won’t relocate as quickly across longer distances.
Its still able to use hull-down positions, however don’t just sit still, as the Titan’s cheeks are quite weak near the gun (similar to the T-34-3’s cheeks)
The biggest gameplay hurdle will be when to use the Dynamic Armour System consumable, and that is explained in-depth here.
Overall
The Titan-54d is a very unique and interesting tank. Its quite well armoured, but not enough to make it OP, the gun is amazing and very reliable, and the mobility is decent. The consumable just adds an extra, unique, aspect of gameplay.
Is it worth getting?
Due to how unique the tank is with its special gameplay mechanic, its worth buying for players who enjoy interesting tanks that are one-of-a-kind. Its quite a good tank due to its armour and amazing gun, but it does require a decent level of skill and game knowledge to play well.
It is very similar in playstyle to the Type 59 and the Obj.274a, though those two tanks are arguably easier to play since they have better turret armour, and gun depression over the front.
The Titan-54d is worth 8,500 gold. Its quite a statistically strong tank, but there are other similar tanks which can usually be bought for cheaper (and overall the Obj.274a is just better in most situations).
