The AMX 13 57 is a French tier 7 light tank. It has a 6 shell autoloader with good DPM and great accuracy, and for a light tank it has decent armour but not the best mobility.

Armour
(The AMX 13 57 in the images is using Improved Assembly)

VS 53mm HE
When flat and facing head-on:
Upper plate 90-95mm
Mid plate 55mm
Lower plate 90-180mm
Turret 43-70mm
VS tier 6-8 tanks:
The AMX 13 57 is a hard tank to use HE against. The front can’t be penetrated by most HE shells, and those that can only have a small portion of the lower plate to aim for, or the turret.
The tank is small and constantly moving so penetrating HE on it is generally quite difficult for most tanks to do.
All standard ammo from enemy tanks will be able to easily penetrate the tank.
Gun
The AMX 13 57 mounts a 57mm autoloader
-Alpha damage is 90 on AP and 75 on APCR, this tank has no HE shell.
-It has 6 shells in the magazine, with a 1s intra-clip reload, so in 5s it can burst out 540 damage.
-It has a 9.1s reload, giving it 2303 DPM
-Penetration on AP is 160mm and APCR is 220mm
-Aim time is 2.8s/3.1s
-Dispersion is 0.301/0.271
–Gun handling is 0.12/0.12/0.06, or 0.1/0.1/0.05 with Vertical Stabilizer.
-Gun depression is -7 degrees
Overall this is an amazing gun, its accurate, has great penetration, good aim time, handling, and nice DPM. Its only issue is in the way the gun deals damage. Its alpha is low and takes 5 seconds to unload 6 shots, just like the Gravedigger, often the tank doesn’t full unload its magazine, thus not getting its full DPM. Thankfully the tank is compensated by an extremely fast clip reload of 9.1s.
The AMX 13 57 also has the best dispersion-after-shot in tier 7, with a factor of 2.0, compared to the usual 4.0 or 3.5. This means the gun hardly blooms out after each time you shoot, which is very useful for this tank in particular.
Mobility
-Top speed is 61km/h forwards, and -23km/h in reverse
-Traverse speed is 68 deg/s on hard terrain, and 59.5 deg/s on medium terrain.
-In game acceleration rate is shown as 23.5 hp/t, it has decently strong 357 horsepower engine for its 15 ton weight.
-Actual acceleration rate is 33.6 hp/t on hard terrain, and 29.4 hp/t on medium terrain.
–Terrain resistances are good, having 0.7/0.8/1.4
While this mobility isn’t anything special among light tanks, its definitely not bad. The top speed is decent, and traverse is quite good. The acceleration is not bad, and the mobility definitely still feels like a light tank.
Equipment, provisions, & consumables
The AMX 13 57 does not have any special provisions or consumables.
Improved Ventilation/Calibrated Shells:
The AMX 13 57 has already got very good penetration on both standard and premium penetration, so if you prefer having a quick reload and better gun handling, use vents instead of calibrated shells.
Calibrated shells also work well on this tank as it doesn’t lose much by not taking vents. Calibrated shells would increase the penetration on AP from 160mm to 168mm, and APCR from 220mm to 231mm.
Improved Assembly:
As the AMX 13 57 is a light tank and doesn’t rely on armour (no have any armour), it shouldn’t use enhanced armour, as the tank doesn’t benefit from it.
Its better to use improved assembly, increasing the tank’s HP from 1100 up to 1166.
Vertical Stabilizer:
Vertical stabilizer is essential on the AMX 13 57, as it is an autoloader with a very high capacity magazine and a very fast intra-clip reload.
This means that from the moment you shoot the first shell to the moment you shoot the last shell 5 seconds later, the gun will keep trying to bloom out more after every shot, making each shot less and less accurate if you don’t stop to aim more.
Vertical stabilizer is essential in improving this, as it makes the tank’s after-shot bloom far less, and the tank becomes much more accurate after each shot. It also makes the tank more accurate during and after movement.
Gameplay advice
The AMX 13 57 is an ambush/support light tank. It has a gun perfect for surprising enemies and dealing big damage. Though its mobility isn’t the most impressive, its still enough to get the tank out of situations quickly.
Don’t be afraid to reload the magazine:
There are many situations where you can and should reload in a battle, and this tank can do it easily as it has such a fast clip reload of just over 9 seconds.
Due to the way the AMX 13 57 unloads damage, as soon as you deal 2 shot of damage to an enemy, most of the time they will immediately pull into cover. When you have such a quick intra-clip, generally enemies immediately know that it is an autoloader shooting them, even if they aren’t looking at you.
For this reason, its often hard to unload the full clip of the tank, either due to the enemy pulling into cover, or them turning to shoot you. So you shouldn’t be afraid of just putting in 2-3 shots and then reloading, its better to save your HP than it is to keep exposing your tank to damage.
Avoid taking damage:
The AMX 13 57 is a tank that can really thrive and carry late game is it has HP left. You should try to avoid taking hits at all costs in this tank, as it will really cost you later in the battle. If you see an enemy aiming at you, just pull away and try find a different location or target.
Its better to do this than it is to take the hit and try and shoot the enemy. Due to the way the gun deals damage, you can’t often put in a full magazine reliably; so its just not worth taking the damage. Avoid the hit, find a different target to catch off guard instead.
Use bushes and view range:
The AMX 13 57 has decent view range and camo rating, and is quite small. Its good to try use bushes to conceal your position and spot enemies. Once you know where your enemies are, you can plan plays from there. This tank thrives on catching enemies when they aren’t paying attention or are caught out, this tank is far less effective when enemies know where you are before you start hitting them.
Basically just always try to use the mobility to get yourself into situations where you can flank around enemies or ambush them, then unload your magazine and then di it again. Always try to avoid getting shot and save your HP for later in the battle, as the tank can really carry with its high damage magazine and quick reload.
Overall
Overall the AMX 13 57 is a very fun and unique tank. Its definitely not an easy tank to play or get used to, but its quite a good vehicle and is interesting due to its 6 round magazine.
The tank has got decent armour and a small profile for a light tank. Its mobility is nothing special, but its still fast and agile like a light tanks should be. The gun is very unique for its low alpha and high capacity magazine, it has great accuracy, handling, penetration, aim time, and gun depression (for an AMX 13 tank).
Is it worth getting?
The AMX 13 57 is worth getting for players who like fast tanks, light tanks, or just want some unique gameplay. There is nothing in the game like the AMX 13 57, its fast, has many shells in the magazine, and is accurate and penetrating.
The only reason you should be deterred from buying this tank would be if you don’t like light tanks or don’t like low alpha autoloaders. The tank should also be avoided if autoloaders or light tanks are a new playstyle to you, as the AMX 13 57 can be challenging to get the hang og.
Otherwise, its good and fun tank that’s worth having.
The AMX 13 57 is worth 4,500 gold. Its a great tank, its very unique, and its very fun to play. Usually the tank is very cheap and worth buying for its store price.
