Armour
(The AMX CDC in the images is using Improved Assembly)

vs 53mm HE
Upper plate 46mm
Lower plate 72mm
Turret cheeks 50mm
Gun mantlet 140mm
Armour when using -10 gun depression (no image for this)
Upper plate 60mm
Turret cheeks 55mm
Gun mantlet 135mm

vs 53mm HE
If the turret is facing straight at the enemy and the hull is slightly angled, 53mm HE won’t be able to penetrate either the hull nor turret front.
Armour vs all tier 7-9 tanks:
As shown in the above images, unless the AMX CDC has its hull completely flat, or turret turned to the side, about half of the HE shells it faces won’t be able to reliably penetrate it.
Given the nature of this tank, its never really sitting still, and therefore its very hard to get a penetrating HE shell into it in a live battle unless you have the flat side of the turret, or just have higher penetration.
To be able to consistently HE penetrate the AMX CDC (if you take into account movement of the tank), then you would need at least 60mm of penetration on HE. Even at the angle shown (image directly above), 60mm HE could penetrate the upper plate, whereas 53mm can’t.
All standard ammunition will penetrated this tank, it doesn’t really matter what tank you face or where you hit. Only the gun mantlet will show up red, and that takes up a very small portion of this tank’s armour.
Gun
The AMX CDC mounts a 90mm gun
-Alpha damage is 225 on AP, 190 on APCR, and 270 on HE
-It has a 5.5s reload giving it 2467 DPM
-Penetration on AP is 212mm, APCR is 259mm, and HE is 45mm.
-Aim time is 2.9s/3.1s
-Dispersion is 0.308/0.277
–Gun handling is 0.16/0.16/0.08, or 0.14/0.14/0.07 with Vertical Stabilizer.
-Gun depression is -10 degrees
The AMX CDC has one of the best 90mm guns in tier 8, with good statistics in every single area. The only aspect that is quite mediocre is its dispersion on hull movements (0.16 and 0.16), however this is more than compensated by high penetration, high DPM, a very quick aim time, and great dispersion.
Even after moving at its full 60km/h speed, the tank is able to hit its shots accurately and quickly. Overall this gun is very impressive.
Mobility
-Top speed is high with 60km/h forwards, and -20km/h in reverse
-Traverse speed is 59.8 deg/s on hard terrain, and 54.8 deg/s on medium terrain.
-In game acceleration rate is shown as 40.6 hp/t, it has an unbelievably powerful 1380hp engine for its 34 ton weight.
-Actual acceleration rate is 36.9 hp/t on hard terrain, and 33.8 hp/t on medium terrain.
–Terrain resistances are very good, at 1.1/1.2/1.6
The AMX CDC is the most mobile tank in tier 8.
Among mediums it has great traverse speed, and very high top speed.
Its acceleration is what makes it just so much more mobile than any other tier 8 tank. It has such a strong engine that the tank is able to essentially always be at its top speed, something even the highest acceleration tier 8 light tanks can’t do.
Its top speed and traverse speed most certainly aren’t as high as light tanks, though its acceleration alone allows the AMX CDC to easily keep up with them in terms of average speed achieved.
Its not an understatement to say that if you haven’t tried an AMX CDC (or Dracula) in battle before, you can’t understand the level of mobility that these tanks are able to achieve. Their ultra strong engines are something unique only to these 2 tanks in the whole game. No other tanks even remotely have the same feel, even if their “actual acceleration” is statistically better.
Equipment, provisions, & consumables
AMX CDC has no special consumables or provisions.
Gun Rammer:
Gun rammer is necessary on this tank as having high rate-of-fire perfectly complements the gameplay of the AMX CDC. A quick reload, with the tank’s high mobility are the perfect combination for a very quick and active medium playstyle, which calibrated shells just cannot support.
Calibrated shells is also just a bad choice on this tank. The CDC already has great penetration and its very accurate, so it has no issues with penetrating enemies or hitting weakpoints.
With a gun rammer, the DPM of the tank is a great 2467, with a quick 5.5s reload.
Improved Modules:
The AMX CDC weighs 34 tons, and has the highest raw acceleration rate in the game (after the Dracula, but barely, and Dracula is just a tier 7 CDC anyway), and is able to go 60km/h. The AMX CDC can easily ram most light tanks and even many mediums and still come out on top. Using improved modules will decrease the damage you take when ramming enemies.
Improved Assembly:
There is absolutely no armour on this tank, do not use enhanced armour. Use improved assembly, which will increase this tank’s high HP from 1450 up to 1537, one of the best in tier 8 MT.
Vertical Stabilizer:
Every area of the AMX CDC’s gun is above average, except its dispersion-on-move; so the best equipment choice will be vertical stabilizer, which significantly improves this. Especially as this tank already has great accuracy of 0.308, and with it constantly moving around as fast as it is, refined gun will not be nearly as useful compared to vertical stabilizer.
Gameplay advice
The AMX CDC plays a bit like a tier 8 version of the Leopard 1, being extremely fast, having no armour, but a very fast firing and accurate gun.
The most vital advice when playing this tank is to not just rush in and die. It seems like common sense, but when your tank is this fast, reaching its top speed in just seconds, you can often reach the frontline quite a bit before enemies.
This means that sometimes you won’t spot them, and you may be tempted to push forward. Don’t push, especially if very few players of the enemy team are spotted, as you are likely to get caught out and die.
When playing the CDC (similar to other very fast tanks), you have to account for the time it would take for enemies to actually reach their positions. Give it 10-20 seconds before you even consider pushing forward. Usually within those 10-20 seconds, enemies will start to be spotted on the minimap.
If the enemies are on your side of the map, then you should engage them. If the enemies are on the other side of the map (such as if your heavy tanks spotted the heavy flank), then you can either push forward on your side, or flank through to put side shots into the enemies.
Use mobility to avoid engagements. Mobility and speed are your armour, if you think you can’t take on a particular enemy, don’t just sit there and wait to 1v1 them (or get rushed by multiple enemies). The mobility is good enough to get the CDC out of almost every situation, and due to the lack of armour, its usually best to have allies supporting you when facing enemies. You should either fall back to where allies can help you, or retreat to where you can use some cover. The AMX CDC should always try to avoid close range brawls with enemies.
Use the mobility to flank. If you started the battle on one side of the map, but during the battle notice there’s a way to get around to the side or behind the enemies; then use your mobility to create a crossfire. The AMX CDC really excels when played by flanking and making crossfires, its gun and mobility are perfectly suited for this type of tactic.
In general, if you have played a Leopard 1, or that type of medium tank, then you should know the exact perfect way to play the AMX CDC. Its just a flank and support medium with extremely good mobility and a great gun.
Overall
Overall the AMX CDC is a good tank if played correctly. It has one of the best medium tank guns in tier 8, with great penetration, aim time, gun depression, and accuracy; the acceleration and speed make it the fastest (in terms of average speed) tier 8 medium tank. Though due to its complete lack of armour, its not easy for many players to play well.
Is it worth getting?
AMX CDC has one of the most exciting and exhilarating playstyles in tier 8, just due to extremely high acceleration rate, speed, and fast firing gun. At the same time its one of the hardest tier 8 tanks to play correctly, as it has no armour at all, a fairly poor camouflage rating, and one of the largest size profiles in tier 8.
Players who will enjoy this tank are players who like similar tanks: very fast paced mobility, great gun accuracy and DPM, but with very little armour; players who enjoy the Leopard 1 should feel very comfortable in the AMX CDC.
However, if the above description doesn’t fit or interest you, the AMX CDC won’t be worth getting, as its quite hard to play and do well in, especially to players used to playing in tanks with better armour or smaller size.
The AMX CDC is worth 8,500 gold, it’s a very good tank in the hands of a great player, and can be an extremely powerful tank when played correctly.
There often isn’t a need to pay 8,500 gold for it as the AMX CDC is usually sold for less gold in the store.

Historical info:
AMX Chasseur de chars was a real tank designed by France in 1946. It was to be a light and mobile tank destroyer, equipped with a rotating turret and an autoloading 90mm gun.
It had a new hull though with some elements derived from the AMX M4 medium tank. The turret was sleek and more modern than other French vehicles of the time. Armour was 30mm at the front, and 20mm everywhere else.
It was planned to be powered by a 1200 horsepower Maybach HL 295 12 cylinder engine.
The gun was a 90mm autoloader, the tank had the capacity to carry a total of 90 shells in 18 magazines. Each magazine had a capacity of 5 shells.
-The name of the gun “90mm AC DCA 45” means 90mm anti-tank anti-air 1945. The gun, developed by Schneider was originally going to be based on an AA gun, hence the “DCA (Défense Contre Aéronef)” in its name, meaning defense against aircraft. Though it was changed and a new gun was developed, hence the “AC (anti-char)” meaning anti-tank.
-Note that in game, the only other tanks with the AC (or AT in English) version of this gun are the French TDs, all other HT or MT have the “90mm DCA 45”, though for balance purposes WG has kept the penetration of the AMX CDC’s 90mm AC DCA 45 the same as the regular version of this gun.
-This gun was meant to be mounted on the ARL-44 as well. Ironically it was the ARL-44 to receive the AMX CDC’s name, as in 1950 the ARL-44 was reclassed as a tank destroyer and called the CDC 48t (Chasseur de chars de 48 tonnes)
AMX Chasseur de chars does literally just mean “AMX tank destroyer”. It never progressed past blueprints so didn’t receive a more specific/unique name.
