Armour

(The B-C Roland in the images is using Improved Assembly)

Drag slider right -> to view 248mm AP
Drag slider <- left to view 60mm HE

When flat and facing head-on:
Upper plate 135-145mm
Lower plate 60mm

Turret face 85-120mm
Cupola 45-65mm

Side armour:
The B-C Roland’s side armour is 40mm thick, with no spaced protection. This means it is easy to HE penetrate when not angled, but is decently armoured when turned at an angle (like in the above images).

Armour vs all tier 8-10 enemies:
The B-C Roland’s armour is essentially the same as the B-C 25 t (and the Avenir on WG servers), meaning its very weak to all standard ammo types, but has fairly good frontal protection against HE.

Its easily penetrable to any HESH shell due to having large flat armour plates and no spaced armour protection.

Gun

The B-C Roland mounts a 105mm autoloader gun.

-Alpha damage is 310 on AP, 260 on APCR, and 440 on HE
-The gun has 3 shells with a 1.50s intra-clip, so in 3s it can deal a 930 damage burst.
-Reload time is 17.5s, giving it 2710 DPM
-Penetration on AP is 230mm, APCR is 270mm, and HE is 53mm.
Estimated aim time is 3.0/3.2s.
Base aim time is 1.9s, but it can get down to 1.55s.
-Dispersion is 0.326/0.293.
Gun handling is 0.1/0.1/0.14, or 0.09/0.09/0.12 with Vertical Stabilizer.
-Gun depression is -6 degrees.

Overall this is an incredible gun, it has good DPM for an autoloader, with good accuracy, aim time & gun handling. Most importantly, the tank has extremely quick intra-clip reload time of 1.5s. which allows you to burst damage very effectively while not exposing the tank for long at all.

Other than this the penetration is above-average on standard ammo, and just average on premium ammo. Gun depression is -6, which is typical for French light tanks.

Mobility

Base mobility stats when equipped:
-Top speed is 65km/h forwards, and -20km/h in reverse.
-Traverse speed is 68.7 deg/s on hard terrain, and 54.9 deg/s on medium terrain.
-In game acceleration rate is shown as 25.8 hp/t, it has a strong 661 horsepower engine for its 26 ton weight.
-Actual acceleration rate is 32.2 hp/t on hard terrain, and 25.8 hp/t on medium terrain.
Terrain resistances are 0.8/1/1.4

Mobility stats with 6% Gear Oil installed:
-Top speed is 69km/h forwards, and -24km/h in reverse.
-Traverse speed is 71.3 deg/s on hard terrain, and 57.1 deg/s on medium terrain.
-In game acceleration rate is shown as 27.1 hp/t, it has a strong 696 horsepower engine for its 26 ton weight.
-Actual acceleration rate is 38.7 hp/t on hard terrain, and 27.1 hp/t on medium terrain.

Overall this mobility is good. The acceleration rate & traverse speed on hard terrain are both good, but are fairly average on medium terrain. Most impressive is the top speed of this tank, as it can use gear oil, which makes this the fastest tank in terms of top speed in tiers 9-10.

Equipment & Provisions

The B-C Roland has Gear Oil provisions and the regular consumable loadout.

Consumables:
Use repair kit, multi-purpose restoration pack, and engine power boost.

This setup will let you repair the tank in any situation, while also giving you better acceleration to be able to take advantage of that very high top speed (which sometimes you can struggle to reach).

Provisions:
Use 10% food, 10% fuel, and 6% gear oil.

To get the most out of the mobility, both 6% gear oil and 10% fuel are needed. The gear oil is essential to give you a good reverse speed, but also to take advantage of a very high top speed. 10% food is needed to improve the general stats of the tank.

Equipment Loadout

Calibrated Shells:
Due to having a fast intra-clip reload and good alpha damage, its important to penetrate each of those 3 shots in the magazine reliably. Calibrated shells is necessary as it allows you to “aim less” on stronger armour, which is helpful due to how little time you have to aim in while unloading your magazine.

Calibrated shells increase the penetration of AP/APCR by 5%, and HEAT/HE by 10%, meaning the B-C Roland’s penetration increases from 230mm to 241mm on AP, 270mm to 285mm on APCR, and 53mm to 58mm on HE.

Improved Assembly:
As the B-C Roland is a light tank, it has no armour worth enhancing.
Improving the HP of the tank by 6% with improved assembly is far more useful, as it will help the tank to survive a bit more damage in battle.

Improved assembly increases the HP from 1600 to 1696.

Vertical Stabilizer:
Due to how quickly the B-C Roland bursts out its damage, and how little time the gun has to aim in after each shot, vertical stabilizer is a far better choice than refined gun.

Vertical stabilizer helps to improve both gun handling, and importantly the after-shot-dispersion by 15%. This makes the tank much more consistent in almost all situations due to how much you move around the battle and how fast you shoot.

Gameplay advice

The Roland has similar gameplay to most autoloader light tanks, but its slightly different. Compared to the light tanks with similar alpha damage, the Roland just deals damage far quicker. Compared to the light tanks with similar intra-clip, the Roland just has far more impressive alpha damage.

General gameplay:
The B-C Roland should play on the MT flank where its generally more open and favourable to run around and use the good speed of the tank. Try to take an early spotting position to catch out enemy tanks that are still getting into position.

Deal damage in bursts, do 2-3 shots of your magazine, then run away. Don’t hang around the enemy, as they will keep trying to shoot you while you are reloading. The best thing you can do is to leave, reset your camo rating so the enemies don’t know where you are, then find a new location from which you can either flank them or shoot them.

As with any light tank, try to conserve your HP and play carefully at the start of battles. Where autoloaders and light tanks can really carry the battle is the late game stage, where the mobility and burst damage become very powerful assets to win a battle.

Be wary of enemy HE:
Just like the Avenir on the WG servers, the Roland has no spall liner. It has to be more cautions against any tanks firing HE, but especially against tank which have HESH or high penetration HE, such as T110E4, FV215b 183, FV205b Alligator, FV217 Badger, etc.

Generally just avoid engaging these enemies if you aren’t sure whether or not they are reloaded. Many of the high penetration tanks lack turrets or mobility, so you can take advantage of that weakness to shoot them from the sides or rear.

Use the engine boost:
Use this consumable when you need to utilize the top speed of the B-C Roland. Especially on medium terrain its very noticeable that the tank struggles to accelerate to its 69km top speed, hence why the speed boost is important.

Use it in situations where you would need a high top speed, such as if you take a long flanking maneuver around the map, or need to quickly reach a position before the enemy.

Use HE where possible:
Just like on the Avenir, the B-C Roland has amazing HE damage of 440, which will allow you to burst 1,320 damage in just 3s. This can easily destroy a tier 8 light tank or TD in a single magazine.

The B-C Roland just plays the role of a typical autoloader light tank, but its able to be a bit more flexible and deadly due to how quickly it bursts damage.

Tank gameplay:

(To come in the future)

Overall

Armour – 4/10
Gun – 9/10
Mobility – 5/10
Speed – 10/10

B-C 25 t Roland is overall a great tank.

Armour is decent for a light tank, though still weak overall. Frontal HE protection is good, sides & rear are weak. HESH protection is poor, no spaced armour protection at all.
Gun has great aim time, gun handling, good accuracy, good DPM, and extremely fast intra-clip reload. Penetration is average, gun depression is poor at -6 degrees.
Mobility is average, with good acceleration & traverse speed on hard terrains, but less impressive acceleration & traverse on medium terrain. Reverse speed is average, base -20km, up to -24/-26km with provisions.
Speed is amazing, base 65km, but up to 69/71km with provisions.

Is it worth getting?

The B-C 25 t Roland is definitely worth getting if it comes available again in the future. This tank was released as the 3rd clan event reward tank in Autumn 2024 on the Lesta server, whether it will come back is unknown.

This is one of the best light tanks in the entire game, and any light tank player will be able to appreciate the features this tank carries. Newer players may enjoy this tank less, as light tanks in general are one of the hardest tank classes to play, and this tank having an autoloader just adds to that.

The B-C 25t Roland is worth 16,000 gold. Tier-for-tier, it is the best autoloader light tank in the game. It has such potent damage potential, the best speed of any light tank in tiers 9-10, great gun handling & aim time
