Armour

(The Destiny in the images is using Improved Assembly)

Drag slider right -> to view 246mm AP
Drag slider <- left to view 320mm HEAT

Armour when flat and facing head-on:
Upper plate 400-425mm auto-ricochet
Mid plate 70-120mm
Lower plate 220-235mm auto-ricochet

Turret cheeks 375-500mm+
Weakpoint under gun 225-250mm

Side armour:
Side armour is 90mm above the tracks, 70mm behind the tracks, with the tracks themselves being 20mm of module armour. The whole sides are covered by a 20mm spaced armour plate.

This is good side armour, you can actually angle and bounce from the sides, however the angled part of the front mid plate causes sidescraping to be quite awkward.

Armour vs all tier 8-10 tanks:
The armour of this tank performs roughly the same against most enemies it faces.

The upper plate is fully impenetrable to all enemies, unless they are able to look down on it and reduce the angle. The lower plate is fully impenetrable to all AP & APCR ammo due to being an auto-ricochet, however most HEAT ammo can go through without issue.

The turret front is fully impenetrable to all enemies except for on the small weakpoint under the gun. All enemies except low penetration tier 8 MT/LT can penetrate this area with standard ammo.

The main weakpoint of this tank is that narrow mid bar, which can even be penetrated by cheap HESH or high penetration HE shells.

Gun

The Destiny mounts a 120mm gun. It has 3 shell types including HESH.

AP:
-Alpha damage is 410.
-Penetration is 245mm, or 265mm with calibrated shells.
-DPM is 2251, or 2139 with calibrated shells.
-Reload time is 10.9s, or 11.5s with calibrated shells.

HESH:
-Alpha damage is 460.
-Penetration is 170mm, or 184mm with calibrated shells.
-DPM is 2526, or 2400 with calibrated shells.
-Reload time is 10.9s, or 11.5s with calibrated shells.

HE:
-Alpha damage is 530.
-Penetration is 65mm, or 70mm with calibrated shells.
-DPM is 2910, or 2765 with calibrated shells.
-Reload time is 10.9s, or 11.5s with calibrated shells.

Other gun stats:
–Estimated aim time is 4.4/4.6s
–Base aim time is 2.7s, but it can get down to 2.16s.
-Dispersion is 0.353/0.300.
–Gun handling is 0.18/0.2/0.14, or 0.16/0.18/0.12 with Vertical Stabilizer.
-Gun depression is -6 degrees.

Overall this gun is very mediocre.
Even with a gun rammer, it has low DPM and a long reload with AP ammo, if you use HESH its DPM becomes good (relative to its alpha) but its penetration is terrible.
If you use calibrated shells, then its DPM on HESH is no longer good, and more just average, and it still has poor penetration.
The aim time is terrible, with mediocre dispersion, and decent gun handling, though terrible gun depression.

The only real decent aspects of this gun are the alpha damage stats, but they aren’t even impressive compared to the reload time of the tank, or compared to other tanks with 400 or 460 alpha.

Mobility

-Top speed is 42km/h forwards, and -10km/h in reverse.
-Traverse speed is 42.8 deg/s on hard terrain, and 32.9 deg/s on medium terrain.
-In game acceleration rate is shown as 15.5 hp/t, it has a good 776 horsepower engine for its 50 ton weight.
-Actual acceleration rate is 15.5 hp/t on hard terrain, and 11.9 hp/t on medium terrain.
Terrain resistances are 1/1.3/1.8

Overall this is a good mobility profile in all aspects except the reverse speed. It has good acceleration on both terrain types which allows the tank to quite easily utilize the good forward speed. Traverse speeds are also good, which enable you to easily wiggle the hull to make the lower plate more troll.

The real downside of mobility is the reverse speed, which makes it very slow to reverse out of position or retreat. If you over-extend around a corner the reverse speed also means you’re more likely to take damage from enemies.

Consumable loadout

Destiny has Tungsten Shells & Reactive Armour for special consumables.
There are 3 combinations you could go with for this tank, they all work quite well.

Adrenaline + Tungsten:
This combination works well for general damage dealing. Adrenaline really helps to improve your poor DPM/reload time, and is very useful in brawl situations. Tungsten just helps to
Use this combination if you want to balance out the weakness of the tank, which is its gun.

Adrenaline + Reactive:
This setup works better for brawling situations, it helps to balance out the tank’s long reload and poor DPM with Adrenaline, but also increases the durability and damage soaking ability with reactive armour.

Tungsten + Reactive:
Use this combination if you want to min-max the tank’s traits. Tungsten maximizes on the alpha damage, and reactive maximizes on the durability/armour aspect of the tank.

Equipment loadout

Gun Rammer:
Despite having HESH as premium ammo, calibrated shells are not worth it on this tank.

The penetration level of the AP ammo is 245mm, which is perfectly fine for tier 9, and is enough to deal with nearly all lower plates/cupolas that you will face in both tier 8 and tier 10.
The penetration of this shell with calibrated shells is 265mm, while it is better, it doesn’t actually let you penetrate much more armour, as you already had enough to go through nearly all lower plates and cupolas without needing calibrated. 265mm doesn’t provide a significant benefit for the armour you need to deal with.

Its a similar situation for HESH.
The 170mm penetration with gun rammer is terrible for tier 9, though enough to go through the sides of most tanks, but against many heavier armoured tanks its not enough to deal with the lower plates.
With calibrated it increases to 184mm, but its still not significant enough of an increase to make a massive difference for which tanks you can penetrate.

Its far more beneficial to use gun rammer, which would decrease your reload time from 11.5s down to 10.9s, and increase DPM on AP from 2139 to 2251, or on HESH from 2400 to 2526.

Improved Assembly:
Due to the very strong armour and auto-ricochet angles of the tank, the Destiny doesn’t gain any use from enhanced armour. Using improved assembly is far better as the additional HP will benefit your tank in all battles.
Using improved assembly will increase its HP from 2200 up to 2288 HP.

Vertical Stabilizer/Refined Gun:
Both of these can work, you can either choose to try and reduce the terrible effective aim time of the tank with vertical stabilizer, or reduce the mediocre dispersion with refined gun.

If you want to balance out the poor effective aim time, and be able to aim in faster on enemies, then use vertical stabilizer.

If you want to just have better accuracy and don’t mind aiming for longer, then use refined gun, it takes the accuracy from 0.353 down to 0.300.

Gameplay advice

The Destiny has quite a unique playstyle in tier 9, as there are no other tanks with an AP/HESH/HE ammo loadout with a similar gun caliber or level of alpha damage.

General gameplay:
The general gameplay of this tank is that of a damage trading heavy tank. The low DPM and long reload mean you generally want to avoid getting into a head-on fight with enemies, as generally your slow reload with AP or poor penetration with HESH will let you down.

When playing this tank you need to try avoid letting enemies push you, and try to stay around allies who can support you while you are reloading. You don’t have the DPM to be able to deal with multiple enemies, or to make pushes, so you need to have allies to support you or at least be meatshields.

Try keep to hard terrain whenever possible, as the mobility does improve noticeably when on hard terrain. Hard terrain areas are roads, paths, paved/concrete areas, etc.

The Destiny can work on both the heavy and medium flank, however when faced against mediums the bad DPM, aim time, and long reload are really at a disadvantage against the more fast paced action of the medium flank. The HESH will be generally more usable against mediums, and often you can create a push against the mediums due to your good armour and HP.
On the heavy side, this is really just a damage trading tank. You can use the mobility to get to positions quite quickly, and use the armour to either go hulldown or just try to troll enemies with the frontal armour. Sidescraping can work, but the weak bar on the front of the tank will get exposed when you sidescrape.

Aiming:
Due to its poor effective aim time and mediocre dispersion, you need to properly aim shots with this tank. Most of the time if you want to hit, you’ll need to stop and aim fully, especially if you are using HESH.

Avoid DPM fights:
Try to trade damage, and not out-DPM enemies. You have a terrible reload time compared to the poor 410 alpha damage on AP, and even if you can penetrate HESH, your reload is still long compared to other tanks with good DPM.

Use the tank’s alpha damage and trade shot-for-shot, as you won’t reload faster than many tanks. Always try to pull back into cover to reload, as the long reload means there is no point exposing your tank as it would just cause you to take damage.

Use all ammo types:
AP should be your main ammo type, as in most scenarios, your HESH isn’t enough to deal with enemies. Use AP for most situations and when you load into the battle.

Use HESH when you have the side of an enemy or are facing an enemy which you know has a weak lower plate. Note that your HESH has far lower penetration than normal tier 9 HESH ammo, so you can’t use it as much as other tanks might.

Use HE on the sides and rears of enemies. With 65mm of penetration you can actually go through the sides of many mediums and the rears of most tanks, and the HE does more damage than HESH.

Awkward aspects of gameplay:
Due to terrible reverse speed, be careful when making pushes or any aggressive play, as you can’t quickly retreat into cover. 10km/h in reverse is the worst reverse speed for any tier 9 tank and its very noticeable.

The gun depression of the tank is also poor, with only -6 degrees. With the gun being mounted quite high on the tank, it can make it a bit awkward to use in many situations. Try to stay to flatter ground, and avoid steep slopes where you would need a lot of gun depression.

Essentially with this tank, trade damage, use HESH & HE when possible, be wary of your bad DPM & aim time, and try to utilize the good armour and mobility where possible.

Overall

Armour – 8/10
Gun – 4/10
Mobility – 6/10
Speed – 7/10

Destiny is overall a decent tank.

Armour is solid, with large auto-ricochet angles on both upper & lower plates, and a nearly impenetrable turret. Weakpoints are small and narrow. Difficult to sidescrape due to the frontal hull weakpoint. Has great HESH/HE protection.
Gun
has poor aim time, mediocre dispersion, low HESH penetration but good AP & HE penetration, long reload for its alpha, and average gun handling. Gun depression is a poor -6 degrees.
Mobility is good, with good acceleration rate on both terrain types, and good traverse speed. Reverse speed is abysmal, at -10km/h.
Speed is good, with 42km/h.

Is it worth getting?

The Destiny can be earned for free but fully upgrading it will take some effort and grinding, so is it worth getting fully upgraded?
For most players, no. This tank essentially trades having a good/decent gun just to have troll armour and good mobility, making it overall not a great tank, at best its decent/average. With tanks like the 50TP or E75 in the tech tree, or Obj.752 & Kpz. 07 P E as collector tanks, which set a high bar for tank performance among tier 9 heavies, the Destiny with its terrible penetration, poor accuracy, and low DPM often struggles to compete.

Its a decent tank, it has good armour and mobility, but a poor gun combined with poor gun depression & reverse speed hold it back from being a “great” tank.

How to upgrade it?

Instead of upgrading the tank and unlocking modules via the event screen in the garage, go to the tank module screen instead.

When you earn “boxes” (the season currency), don’t spend it in the event screen, go to the tank module screen and unlock the modules.

This way it only costs 12,000 boxes to fully upgrade, instead of the 37,000 from the event screen.

Camo cost:

The Destiny has a permanent appearance which can’t be adjusted.
