Armour

(The Erich Konzept I in the images is using Enhanced Armour:)

Drag slider right -> to view 240mm AP
Drag slider <- left to view 290mm HEAT

When flat and facing head-on:
Upper plate 215mm (auto-ricochet for all guns)
Lower plate 115mm

Turret face 240mm
Turret cheeks 230-260mm
Gun mantlet 240mm
Cupola 175mm

Side armour:
The upper side armour is 80mm, lower side armour (behind tracks) is 70mm, meaning it won’t be easily penetrated by most HE shells.

vs 240mm AP (top image), 290mm HEAT (bottom image)
Using -8 gun depression:

Upper plate 455mm (auto-ricochet for all guns)
Turret face 240mm
Turret cheeks 230-260mm
Gun mantlet 240mm
Cupola 175mm

Armour vs tier 8:
Against tier 8 enemies, the Erich Konzept 1 has decent armour. The turret will be quite red to most enemies (especially medium & light tanks), with just a few weaker areas on the edges.

The lower plate will be weak to any enemy you face, and the upper plate is an auto-ricochet to all enemies you face.

Armour vs tier 9-10:
Against tier 9 and 10 tanks, the Erich’s only armour is its upper plate. The turret is weak and penetrable to nearly all tanks, the only way to bounce shots is by raising the gun up to increase turret armour.

The lower plate will be weak to any enemy you face, and the upper plate is an auto-ricochet to all enemies you face.

120mm Gun

Firepower:
-Ammo: AP/HEAT/HE.
-Penetration: 230/285/62mm.
-Alpha damage: 380/320/480.
-Reload time is 8.6s for 2651 DPM.

Handling:
Estimated aim time is 2.9/3.0s
Base aim time is 1.84s, but it can get down to 1.42s.
-Dispersion is 0.326/0.277
Gun handling is 0.14/0.12/0.08, or 0.12/0.1/0.07 with Vertical Stabilizer.

Usability:
-Shell velocities are 900/1150/850 m/s.
-Gun depression is -8 degrees around the entire tank, except the rear where its -6.

Overall this is an ok gun, it has some nice traits but also significant drawbacks.
Accuracy, aim time, and gun handling are all good, the gun feels very accurate and consistent in battles. Penetration is fairly average for a tier 9 MT, but DPM is terrible. For only having 360 alpha damage, 2.5k DPM is extremely low, and is a very significant limitation of the tank.

152mm Gun

Firepower:
-Ammo: AP/HEAT/HE.
-Penetration: 220/270/60mm.
-Alpha damage: 500/420/600
-2 shells in the magazine.
-5.00s intra-clip reload.
-Reload time is 20.4s for a total of 2365 DPM.

Handling:
Estimated aim time is 3.9/4.2s
Base aim time is 2.4s, but it can get down to 1.85s.
-Dispersion is 0.380/0.323
Gun handling is 0.14/0.12/0.12, or 0.12/0.1/0.01 with Vertical Stabilizer.

Usability:
-Shell velocities are 790/650/650 m/s.
-Gun depression is -8 degrees around the entire tank, except the rear where its -6.

Mobility

-Top speed is 55km/h forwards, and -20km/h in reverse.
-Traverse speed is 70.06 deg/s on hard terrain, and 58.38 deg/s on medium terrain.
-In game acceleration rate is shown as 23.4 hp/t, it has a strong 1026 horsepower engine for its 44 ton weight.
-Actual acceleration rate is 23.4 hp/t on hard terrain, and 19.5 hp/t on medium terrain.
Terrain resistances are 1/1.2/1.5

Overall this is good mobility. Top speeds are fairly average, but good traverse and acceleration mean the tank is very agile on hard terrain. Mobility on medium terrain is still good, but noticeably less impressive.
Its not quite as fast as the Leopard PTA or AMX 30 1er, but its still among the more mobile tier 9 MT, especially on hard terrain.

Equipment, provisions, & consumables

The Erich Konzept I has no special consumables or provisions.

Gun Rammer/Calibrated Shells:
Due to such a poor combination of low DPM and unimpressive alpha damage, gun rammer is needed. Gun rammer will let you at least out-DPM most tier 8 tanks, and have a better reload for facing tier 9 and 10 enemies. Calibrated shells isn’t needed as much, as you mostly fight enemy medium tanks, which have high DPM more than strong armour. Gun rammer would improve reload time from 8.8 to 8.4s, and increase DPM from 2434 to 2563.

Calibrated shells can work if you just want to rely on trading damage, and not even attempt to use the tank’s DPM, since not having gun rammer means even most tier 8 tanks can easily out-DPM you. Calibrated shells will make the gun more consistent, especially against tier 10 heavy tanks with strong armour.
Calibrated shells would increase AP penetration from 230mm to 248mm, HEAT from 285mm to 322mm, and HE from 62 to 67mm.

Improved Assembly/Enhanced Armour:
Improved assembly increases the HP from 1650 to 1716, letting the tank take a bit more damage when it gets penetrated.

Enhanced armour is mainly useful to bounce shots from tier 8 MT and LT, as the turret armour would be just enough to bounce standard ammo. In other situations, enhanced armour doesn’t greatly benefit the tank.

Refined Gun:
Due to its good aim time and gun handling, Erich Konzept I doesn’t need vertical stabilizer. Refined gun improves the dispersion from 0.326 to 0.277.

Gameplay advice

Erich Konzept I’s gameplay is somewhat like the Lansen C at tier 8, it has great gun accuracy and aim time, good mobility, but low DPM (and generally weak armour).

This is a support medium tank which isn’t suited to frontline brawls, but rather a more cautious style of gameplay.

General gameplay:
Take the Erich Konzept I to the medium flank, since on the heavy flank it has no advantages. Use the general medium tank positions, but don’t rush to the very front of the flank, use 2nd line positions. Flanking also works well in this tank, since its gun is accurate, and it has good mobility to relocate with.

Use the terrain to hide the large hull of the tank when on reload, don’t sit out in the open, as the tank has a large hull with fairly weak armour, and your reload is long. Even when facing tanks which can’t penetrate your turret armour, the lower plate is still massive and weak.

Don’t rely on DPM or reload time at all, even against tier 8 enemies. Most tanks have better DPM than you, even many in tier 8. Unless you are certain that the damage trade is worth it, always retreat into cover after a shot to reload safely.

Play cautiously:
Due to such limited DPM and unimpressive alpha damage, you can’t be as aggressive or active as other medium tanks.

When choosing position in battle, its best not to rush highly contested positions which might involve a brawl (such as the hill on Mines). Its also best to avoid frontline positions, especially if you don’t have other allies who have also pushed to where you are. You don’t have the DPM to sustain a fight, and you don’t have alpha damage to intimidate.

When fighting enemy tanks directly (not flanking or in sniping), keep close to allied tanks, since its extremely hard for the Erich Konzept I to win a fight without an ally help kill the enemy faster. Despite having more HP, you will even find that lower tier tanks can often deal great damage to you in a 1-on-1 scenario, just due to how slowly you reload.

Trade in alpha damage:
Despite its alpha damage not being impressive (only 10 more than most 105mm mediums), the Erich Konzept 1 should use its alpha damage to trade with enemy tanks.
Since your reload is fairly slow for this level of alpha, try to avoid enemy mediums looking for shots on you, since its guaranteed that any medium with 310-360 alpha will be able to shoot you twice before you even reload.

Try to avoid trading with tanks such as the Cobra, WZ-120, or WZ-121, since they have noticeably higher alpha damage than you, while also having a similar reload time.

Raise the turret:
Since the Erich Konzept I has an oscillating turret, you can raise the gun (which also raises the turret) to increase the armour of the turret frontal plate. Don’t raise the gun to its full elevation, as it exposes the “neck” of the turret, raising the gun to half of its full elevation will bounce most same-tier medium tanks.

vs 240mm AP, on flat ground & when using gun depression.

The Erich Konzept I is a support medium, it sports a more cautious playstyle due to its lacking DPM and alpha damage. It should use 2nd line positions or flanking maneuvers, and avoid the frontline pressure. Keep around allies when fighting enemy tanks, since your low damage output makes it hard to win fights.

Tank gameplay:

Overall

Armour – 4/10
Gun – 4/10
Mobility – 6/10
Speed – 6/10

Erich Konzept I is overall a mediocre tank.

Armour is only decent against lower tier tanks. Generally very weak to tier 9-10 enemies. Poor HESH protection, average HE protection.
Gun has good accuracy, aim time, gun handling, average penetration, and average alpha damage. Gun depression is -8 degrees, DPM is low.
Mobility is good, with good acceleration & traverses speed on both main terrain types, but very good on hard terrain. Reverse speed is average at -20km/h.
Speed is good at 55km/h.

Is it worth getting?

The Erich Konzept 1 is not worth getting. It doesn’t offer anything, and is a fairly mediocre tank. If you want a gun that’s accurate and has 360 alpha, you could get a Leopard PTA. If you want similarly good mobility, you could buy the Char Futur 4 (also with a better gun). If you want a tank with similar armour effectiveness, you could get a Cobra, which has a much more interesting gun.

The tank offers no interesting stats or strong abilities in its gameplay, and is not worth getting over other tier 9 mediums.

The Erich Konzept 1 is worth 8,000 gold. Its not a great tank, and it doesn’t have unique traits or gameplay. If you want a tank with the rough armour effectiveness of this tank, you can get a Cobra. If you want an accurate gun with 360 alpha, you can get a Leopard PTA.
