The Kunze Panzer is a tier 7 German light tank. It has great DPM and good alpha for a light tank, but lacks armour. It has a high top speed but quite mediocre acceleration rate & traverse, making it less mobile than most LT in tier 7.

Armour
(The Kunze Panzer in the images is using Improved Assembly)

vs 53mm HE
When flat and facing head-on:
Upper plate 82-90mm
Lower plate 86-90mm
Turret 70-140mm
The side armour of the Kunze Panzer is a decent 40mm.
VS all tier 6-8 tanks:
As the Kunze Panzer is a light tank, it has no armour.
Its armour on the front is good enough to even stand up to most HE shells, including from 150mm+ guns, but still don’t take chances with that.
The tank has a very low base HP of 1000, so any HE shells that penetrate this tank will be significant.
Gun
The Kunze Panzer mounts a 90mm gun
-Alpha damage is 225 on AP, 190 on HEAT, and 270 on HE
-It has a 5.9s reload, giving it 2290 DPM
-Penetration on AP is 160mm, HEAT is 235mm, and HE is 60mm.
-Aim time is 3.5s/3.8s
-Dispersion is 0.326/0.293
–Gun handling is 0.15/0.15/0.08, or 0.13/0.13/0.07 with Vertical Stabilizer.
-Gun depression is -10 degrees
Overall this is a great gun for a light tank. Though its DPM is lacking compared to the other tier 7 LT, it has got higher alpha than all of them. For a gun with 225 alpha in tier 7, the Kunze Panzer actually has very good DPM. Its handling isn’t amazing, but its still decent, and the aim time and dispersion are both good.
The penetration is very good on this tank, and its gun really behaves more like a medium tank’s gun than a light tank’s.
Mobility
-Top speed is 70km/h forwards, and -23km/h in reverse
-Traverse speed is 63.9 deg/s on hard terrain, and 58.1 deg/s on medium terrain.
-In game acceleration rate is shown as 26.9 hp/t, it has a very strong 748 horsepower engine for its 27.8 ton weight.
-Actual acceleration rate is 26.9 hp/t on hard terrain, and 24.4 hp/t on medium terrain.
–Terrain resistances are poor, having 1/1.1/2.2
Don’t let the stats fool you, as the Kunze Panzer actually has poor ground resistances for a light tank. This means its effective acceleration is far less than other light tanks in tier 7, and it makes the Kunze Panzer the least mobile tier 7 light tank.
This is not to say it will never reach its 70km top speed, just don’t expect to use it often. If this tank was limited to 55km/h, you probably wouldn’t even notice. The Kunze Panzer’s mobility is just like a fast medium tank, but not a true light tank.
Equipment, provisions, & consumables
The Kunze panzer does not have any special provisions or consumables.
Gun Rammer:
The Kunze Panzer already has very high penetration for any tier 7 tank, let alone a light tank. Both its standard and premium penetration are above average for tier 7.
Its better to use a gun rammer on this tank, as it gives it actually really nice DPM for a 90mm gun (which is something very few tier 7s have), with a 5.9s reload for 225 alpha, giving it 2290 DPM.
Improved Assembly:
As the Kunze Panzer is a light tank, it doesn’t have any armour to enhance.
Use improved assembly, it will give the tank an extra 60 HP, going from 1000 to 1060. Its still a very low amount of HP, but that 60 does definitely help in battles.
Vertical Stabilizer:
Due to the Kunze Panzer having already quite good accuracy, and the fact that its a light tank and needs to be constantly moving around the battlefield, it does not benefit from using refined gun.
Its far better to improve the mediocre gun handling of the tank, so it can be more accurate during and after movement.
Gameplay advice
Kunze Panzer is more of a damage dealing light tank than it is a quick and evasive scouting light tank. Its stats and its gameplay have a larger emphasis on the tank’s gun, rather than its mobility. The gun is more like a medium, the mobility is more like a medium, so play it more similarly to a fast medium, such as a Leopard 1.
Be wary of the differences to medium tanks though, the most notable is an extremely low amount of HP. If an SU-152 penetrates you with HE, most of the time you will be only left with 100 HP.
Try to remain out of the enemies line of sight:
You don’t want to get hit in this tank at all, as you have no armour, and your durability is really very low. Try to use the terrain and the small size of the Kunze Panzer to stay away from the enemys’ guns.
Don’t play aggressively:
While you can rush to the front and scout enemies, its best to avoid fighting the enemies head-on. You can’t afford to take any hits, so you should only ever poke out if you know the enemies aren’t aimed in on you. If you take fewer hits at the start of the battle, you will be able to carry wins easier later on.
If you play too aggressively, you will often just end up with a dead tank, as this just doesn’t have the durability or armour to take hits, and its mobility isn’t even impressive enough to immediately run away from a situation like other lights.
Overall
Overall the Kunze Panzer is a good tank, but its not as much of a “true light tank” as it looks. It has a great gun with good DPM, penetration, and alpha. Its mobility is decent, but more reminiscent of a fast medium than a light, and it has low HP and weak armour.
In tier 7 the Kunze Panzer is a fairly unique tank, as it has quite a unique combination of stats. Its gun is more medium like, with higher alpha and decent reload time; and its mobility is very good in terms of mediums but not lights. Other than the Edelweiss, there aren’t any other similar tanks (Dracula isn’t similar as it doesn’t have medium-level mobility).
Is it worth getting?
The Kunze Panzer is worth getting if you really love the RU 251, or the Leopard 1, and just want something similar in tier 7. While not quite as fast as either of those tanks, it is definitely not a slow vehicle, and does sport a similar style of gameplay.
Otherwise its not worth getting, as it really doesn’t offer anything that other tier 7 mediums or lights are able to achieve. Compared to a LT its too slow, compared to a MT its too lightly armoured and has very low HP.
The Kunze Panzer is worth 4,000 gold. Its a good tank, but its quite pointless, as its not quite a light tank, nor is it quite a medium tank.
If you wanted a light tank with proper light mobility, you would get something like Type 62 or M41D; if you wanted something with a proper medium tank 90mm gun, then you would get an Edelweiss, or even the tech tree VK 30.02 (D) or T20.
