M4/FL10

The M4/FL10 is an Egyptian/French (in game hybrid nation) tier 7 medium tank. Its main feature is its fast firing gun with an inverse auto-reloader, the more it shoots the better its DPM gets.
It has fairly weak armour though, and unimpressive mobility.

Armour

(The M4/FL10 in the images is using Improved Assembly)

vs 160mm AP
When flat and facing head-on:

Upper plate 105-125mm
Lower plate 77-85mm
Turret 85-120mm

VS all tier 6-8 tanks:
The tank has no armour at all to any AP, APCR, or HEAT type shells. Frontally it will only resist HE with up to 85mm of penetration. Tanks with more than 85mm penetration can reliably penetrate the lower plate.

The side armour is quite weak, at only 40mm thick, so most guns can easily penetrate the side armour with HE. There is a reinforced 76mm part, but this only covers a relatively small portion of the side armour.

Gun

The M4/FL10 has an inverse auto-reloader, this means that the more it empties its magazine, the quicker the reload for each shell gets.
It has 3 firing modes (you won’t notice each firing mode in battle, but it helps to understand the gun better).

Single shot mode:
(Where you shoot one shell, reload, shoot….)
-The best DPM in “single shot mode” is on shell 3*, so you have to first unload the other 2 shells in order to have the best DPM.
-Shell 3* has a 4s reload, giving the tank 2406 DPM in this mode.

Autoloader mode:
(Where you just unload the entire magazine)
-Reload time from having no shells in the clip to having 3 shells in the clip takes 10.64ss
-Intra clip is 1.33s with 3 x 160, giving the tank 2165 DPM if it shoots like an autoloader would. (As in: fires 3 shells, reloads fully, then fires 3 shells, etc. etc.)

Autoreloader mode:
(A combination of the first two. Only shooting until you need.)
-Reload time for each shell is:
Shell 3* – 4s
Shell 2* – 3.6s (+ 1.33s)
Shell 1* – 3.1s (+ 1.33s)

Gun stats:
-Alpha damage is 160, 3 shells in the clip. Intra-clip reload is 1.33s, so in roughly 2.7s it can deal 480 damage.
-Penetration is 144mm on AP, 202mm on APCR, and 38mm on HE
-Aim time is 3.3s/3.5s
-Dispersion is 0.319/0.287
Gun handling is 0.14/0.14/0.12, or 0.12/0.12/0.1 with Vertical Stabilizer.
-Gun depression is -6 degrees

*Shell 3 is the first shell you start to reload from empty/the last shell you shoot when unloading the magazine.
Shell 1 is the last shell that gets loaded into the magazine when you reload/the first shell you shoot when fully loaded.

Though some of the stats of this gun may not seem the most impressive, the gun of this tank is really very impressive, and shouldn’t be underestimated.
Its not the most accurate or well performing in terms of handling, aim time, or penetration, but its ability to shoot out its shells so quickly, then keep firing, makes it an extremely powerful armament.
Even once the entire magazine is empty, the whole reload for all 3 shells is under 11s, so it still is an extremely fast reload even when not counting the fact it can reload one by one.

Mobility

-Top speed is 52km/h forwards, and -20km/h in reverse
-Traverse speed is 69.4 deg/s on hard terrain, and 49.6 deg/s on medium terrain.
-In game acceleration rate is shown as 18.3 hp/t, it has an strong 518hp engine for its 28 ton weight.
-Actual acceleration rate is 18.3 hp/t on hard terrain, and 13.1 hp/t on medium terrain.
Terrain resistances are 1/1.4/1.6

The mobility profile of the M4/FL10 is decent, but its nothing impressive. The top speed, acceleration, and traverse speeds are all alright, but none are breaking any records.
Even though the medium terrain acceleration and ground resistances may seem very poor, its not too noticeable when playing the tank, it still feels decent.
If you play it and really do feel its bad then try to keep to hard terrain and avoid medium terrain.

Equipment, provisions, & consumables

The M4/FL10 does not have access to any special consumables or provisions.

Calibrated Shells:
Do not take improved ventilation on this tank. Though its penetration is decent (especially on APCR), the tank is an auto-reloader, so it loses a lot less than tanks with regular guns (as they have gun rammer, which gives far more DPM than ventilation).

Though the penetration isn’t low for its tier, that’s just because tier 7 as a whole is a tier of low-penetration tanks. When facing some tier 8 enemies, you may find the tank struggling to penetrate the lower plates of some heavy tanks, or upper plates of some medium tanks. Using calibrated shells will improve your chances of penetrating higher tier enemies with premium ammo, and same tier enemies with standard ammo.

Take calibrated shells, penetration increases from 144mm to 151mm on AP, 202mm to 212mm on APCR, and 38mm to 42mm on HE.

Improved Assembly:
Due to having no armour at all, enhanced armour will not help this tank. Its better to use improved assembly and make its great base HP of 1250 even better, up to 1325.

Vertical Stabilizer:
Since the M4/FL10 has an automatic loading gun, and a very short intra-clip reload of 1.33s, it fires off its 3 shell magazine very quickly, and doesn’t get much time between each shell to aim in. For this reason, and the fact that the M4/FL10 does not sport camping gameplay, you should use vertical stabilizer, as it makes your tank more accurate after each shot you fire, and during/after movement.

Gameplay advice

The M4/FL10 is a support medium tank. It doesn’t have the armour or flexibility to be on the frontline, or brawling with other tanks.

At the start of a battle, its best not to just rush in to the most forward and aggressive positions. Your armour is weak and you have a large hull profile which is easy to hit. Your tank will not last long if you rush the most aggressive positions.
Its better to hang back on the second line, and let allies spot enemies first. Once you know where enemies are on the map, you can make a play from there.

You should play the tank carefully (due to its weak and large armour profile), but not passively. If you play passively, you won’t be able to get the gun to deal damage well, so you have to play as an opportunistic tank which takes advantage of enemies when they are reloading or not paying attention to you.

Look out for flanking opportunities or isolated enemies. The M4/FL10 has the perfect gun for taking advantage of a situation where enemies are distracted or alone. It can burst 480 damage in 2.66s, and then keep shooting with a 4s reload and 2.4k DPM, even when the magazine is empty.

Keep the hull faced towards the enemies.
Don’t show the side armour. The side armour is very flat and very weak, though there is a 75mm plate of reinforced armour on it, a large portion is still only 40mm thick, and most enemies you face have over 40mm penetration on HE.

Overall

Overall the M4/FL10 is a good and fun tank. Its not easy to play it right as its armour is weak and gun depression is poor, but the tank is very good when you can mitigate its weaknesses.

The gun is amazing, with the quickest reloads of any auto-reloader tank in game, and very good DPM. The mobility is less impressive, but still not terrible; and the armour is weak to standard ammo but can withstand most HE shells frontally.

Is it worth getting?

The M4/FL10 is worth getting if you love autoloaders or auto-reloaders. It has one of the most fun guns to shoot in the game as it literally never stops firing. You can shoot 3 shells in 2.66s, then keep shooting with just a 4s reload, its a very unique gun and not even the other auto-reloaders in the game can compare to this kind of a reload. Its a truly unique gun that autoloader and auto-reloader loving players should be able to really enjoy.

M4 FL/10 is worth 5,000 gold. Its a very fun tank, and it can be very good when you play it right. The tank is definitely not weak and shouldn’t be underestimated in its capabilities. Its not easy to play though, so if you aren’t an experienced player then this tank isn’t a great choice.
