Lower plate 90mm
Turret cheeks 100-160mm
Gun mantlet 400-500mm
Cupola 115mm
Side armour:
Side armour is 45mm on the front half of the hull, 35mm on the rear half of the hull.

vs 245mm AP (top image), 290mm HEAT (bottom image)
Using -10 gun depression:
Upper plate 180mm
Turret cheeks 115-200mm
Gun mantlet 400-500mm
Cupola is hidden
Armour vs all tier 8-10 enemies:
M46 Jaguar has no armour to any enemy it can face.
The only armour on the tank is the gun mantlet, which may occasionally bounce a shot of you hide the hull and move back & fourth along a ridgeline. The movement may cause enemies to shoot the mantlet.
The hull and rest of the turret are easily penetrable to all standard ammo and most HESH shells you will face. The hull side is vulnerable to any regular HE shells from enemies.
Gun
The M46 Jaguar mounts a 105mm gun.
Firepower:
-Ammo: AP/HEAT/HE.
-Penetration: 240/290/56mm.
-Alpha damage: 290/250/370.
-Reload time is 5.3s for 3257 DPM.
Handling:
–Estimated aim time is 2.8/3.0s
–Base aim time is 2.15, but it can get down to 1.66s
-Dispersion is 0.308/0.262
–Gun handling is 0.1/0.1/0.06, or 0.09/0.09/0.05 with Vertical Stabilizer.
Usability:
-Shell velocities are 945/1181/945 m/s.
-Gun depression is -10 degrees around the entire tank, except the rear where its -5.
Overall this is a great gun it feels very consistent and reliable in battle. The only real downside of it is having very low alpha for a tier 9 medium (20-60 less than other MT). Other than this it has the best DPM of any tier 9 MT, good penetration, and great gun depression. Base aim time is mediocre, but its well compensated by the amazing gun handling and dispersion.
Mobility
Raw stats:
-Forward speed is 56km/h.
-Reverse speed is -20km/h.
-Raw acceleration rate is 25.9 hp/t.
-Engine power is 1072hp for its 41 ton weight.
Hard terrain mobility:
-Actual acceleration is 25.9 hp/t.
-Traverse speed is 60.6 deg/s.
Medium terrain mobility:
-Actual acceleration is 19.9 hp/t.
-Traverse speed is 46.6 deg/s.
Terrain resistance stats:
–Terrain resistances are 1/1.3/1.55
This is good mobility for a tier 9 medium, the M46 Jaguar is among the more mobile mediums, such as Erich Konzept I or Char Futur 4. It has great top speed, and on hard terrain its acceleration is high with good traverse. On medium terrain its less impressive due to the 1.3 terrain resistance, but still not bad mobility.
Equipment, Consumables, & Provisions
M46 Jaguar has no special consumables or provisions.
Gun Rammer:
The M46 Jaguar is the highest DPM tier 9 medium, not using gun rammer would essentially make it pointless to play this tank, as one of the main traits is its DPM & reload. The tank also already has good penetration for a medium.
Gun rammer would lower the reload time from 5.6s down to 5.3s, and increase DPM from 3094 to 3257.
Improved Assembly:
As the M46 Jaguar has very weak armour, using enhanced armour has no effect on the tank’s performance. Its better to use improved assembly and increase the tank’s survivability.
Improved assembly takes the M46 Jaguar’s 1650 base HP up to 1716 HP.
Refined Gun:
Due to the great gun handling of the tank, refined gun works very well. Most of the time with this tank you are already aimed in enough to just immediately snap a shot without needing to aim, so the improved dispersion helps to be more accurate with that type of gameplay.
Gameplay advice
The M46 Jaguar plays a support medium role. Its sort of similar to the Leopard 1, Leopard PTA, or Char Futur 4, just trading out some mobility & speed to gain -10 gun depression.
General gameplay:
In general, try to prioritize using the tank’s speed, mobility, and gun, rather than trying to use its armour or HP.
Use the good mobility to reach positions quickly and get ambush shots, and also use it to run away from bad situations. You want to try conserve HP in this tank so that you can use it later in battle to trade.
Let your allies be your armour, don’t be the one on the frontline taking hits and absorbing damage. Take advantage of enemies when they are distracted or are on a reload, and make sure to take cover before they reload again.
Utilize ridgelines:
Despite having no armour, even on the turret, make sure to use the terrain in battle to make the tank harder to hit.
By using ridgelines to hide the hull and make the turret profile smaller, you can move the tank back and fourth along the ridge. The movement of the tank and the smaller target of your turret can sometimes cause enemies to miss, or bounce off the strong gun mantlet.
Its still best to never rely on the armour, and still count yourself lucky to get a bounce, but this tactic does sometimes get you some blocked damage.
Conserve HP:
Try to save your HP, don’t expose the tank or trade your HP for damage in the early stages of the battle. You don’t have any armour to save you, and you don’t have the alpha damage to win single-shot-trades.
Let allies take the enemies’ attention, then go put in some damage. Avoid getting greedy for damage, since losing too much HP makes it hard to play/win in later stages of the battle.
Trade in DPM:
Due to having low alpha damage (only 290, most tier 9 MT have 310-350), you have to trade in DPM. This means every time you see the enemy shoot, or you take a shot from the enemy, shoot them back twice. This way you will always come out on top in damage, as 2 shots of 290 are 580 damage.
Don’t trade shot-for-shot, since all enemies in tiers 9-10 will have higher damage in a single shot, and you’ll always come out with less HP.
Snap shots:
Don’t bother aiming too much with this tank, its very proficient with snapshots. The mediocre base aim time means that when you do stop to aim, its quite slow to get aimed in.
However, amazing dispersion & gun handling mean that even without aiming, your reticle is almost always accurate enough to hit enemies without any aiming at all. So don’t be afraid to take snapshots (non-aimed shots) on enemies
Essentially just play the M46 Jaguar similarly to other lightly armoured but agile medium tanks. Use the mobility to get into position or flank enemies, and use the great gun to farm damage. Avoid relying on armour at all, and expect that even HESH can easily penetrate your turret when fully hulldown.
Overall
Armour – 3/10
Gun – 8/10
Mobility – 7/10
Speed – 6/10
M46 Jaguar is overall a good tank.
Armour is very weak for a medium tank. Hull sides & rear are prone to HE, and overall HESH protection is poor.
Gun is great, amazing gun handling with great accuracy, good penetration, and the highest DPM of a tier 9 MT. Gun depression is -10 degrees. Base aim time is mediocre, with low alpha damage.
Mobility is good, high acceleration rate & good traverse on hard terrain. Medium terrain traverse is unimpressive, but still decent acceleration. -20km/h reverse speed is jus average.
Speed is good for at 56km/h.
Is it worth getting?
The M46 Jaguar is worth getting if you’re a player that enjoys agile, flexible, and consistent medium gameplay. The M46 Jaguar is sort of like a tier 9 Leopard 1 in its gameplay, but trading out a bit of mobility to have gun depression.
The M46 Jaguar is worth 11,000 gold. Its a good tank with enjoyable traits for a medium, while still being quite different to other mediums in tier 9.
