Armour
(The M4A1 Revalorisé in the images is using Improved Assembly)

vs 225mm AP
Armour when facing head-on:
Upper plate 65-90mm
Lower plate 40-80mm
Turret cheeks 130-200mm
Gun mantlet 210-220mm
VS tier 7-9:
All enemies that you face can easily penetrate this tank without issue. The only case where you bounce enemies would be if they hit the gun mantlet, which is relatively strong.
Be aware that some enemies can HE the lower plate of this tank, and it is beneficial to wiggle for this reason.
Using gun depression does not make much of a difference in this tank, just due to the fact it has a tier 5 hull and turret.
Gun
The M4A1 Revalorisé mounts a 105mm gun
-Alpha damage is 350 on APCR, 300 on HEAT, and 400 on HE
-It has a 8.4s reload giving it 2494 DPM
-Penetration on APCR is 200mm, HEAT is 250mm, and HE is 53mm.
-Aim time is 3.5s/3.7s
-Dispersion is 0.317/0.285
–Gun handling is 0.14/0.14/0.1, or 0.12/0.12/0.09 with Vertical Stabilizer.
-Gun depression is -10 degrees
The M4A1 Rev has one of the best guns on any tier 8 medium. It has a perfect combination of high alpha, high DPM, and great accuracy. The only aspect of this gun that’s rather mediocre is its penetration, everything else is extremely good.
Mobility
-Top speed is a decent 48km/h forwards, and -18km/h in reverse
-Traverse speed is 61.2 deg/s on hard terrain, and 55.6 deg/s on medium terrain.
-In game acceleration rate is shown as 18.7 hp/t, it has an decent 632.5hp engine for its 34 ton weight.
-Actual acceleration rate is 18.7 hp/t on hard terrain, and 17 hp/t on medium terrain.
–Terrain resistances are very good, at 1/1.1/1.5
The mobility of this tank is decent, it has good acceleration and traverse speeds, but its top speed is not very impressive. Overall the M4A1 Rev is a fairly agile tank, not at all slow.
Equipment, provisions, & consumables
M4A1 Revalorisé has no special consumables or provisions.
Gun Rammer:
Both calibrated shells and gun rammer are valid equipment choices for this tank. Its best to start out using gun rammer though, only switch to calibrated shells if you have played the tank for a few battles and really feel that it does not have enough penetration. The main benefit of calibrated shells on this tank will be the 25mm penetration boost to its HEAT ammo, going from 250mm to 275mm.
With a gun rammer, the DPM is an extremely good 2494, with an quick 8.4s reload for its 350 alpha.
Coated Optics/Camouflage Net:
Use coated optics first on the M4A1 Rev, its still a medium and with optics it can achieve one of the better view ranges in tier 8, with 296.2m.
However, as the M4A1 Rev does play a support/sniper medium role occasionally, camo net is also a fairly valid option if you want to stay hidden. This tank actually has extremely poor camo rating, its just barely better than some of the tier 8 heavy tanks.
Improved Assembly:
M4A1 Revalorisé has a tier 5 tank’s hull and turret. There isn’t any armour on this tank to need enhancing. Use improved assembly to increase the tank’s 1400 base HP up to 1484.
Vertical Stabilizer:
While the M4A1 Rev may sometimes need to snipe, it still often needs to be moving around and having quite an active role in the battle. For this reason, its better to improve the tank’s dispersion-on-movement by taking the vertical stabilizer.
Gameplay advice
The M4A1 Revalorisé has a very unique style of gameplay. Its not quite a MT, its not quite a TD, but its somewhere between the two. Since the Rev’s gameplay is fully focussed around using its great gun, its a bit like a turreted TD with lower alpha, yet due to decent mobility and HP it can also flank with the medium tanks when needed.
The tank needs to be played very passively. Don’t rush forward positions that require you to be aggressive, or may force you to brawl with enemy tanks. Take a second line position, either with or behind allies, as long as the Rev is not exposed on the frontline.
Its better to hang back until you have more information about the enemy team, where they are going, which tanks are going where, and who is unspotted.
M4A1 Revalorisé is a farming tank, you just need to let the gun work, its that simple. It sounds like TD gameplay, and it kind of is.
Just be aware, that if you sit sniping in a bush where the TDs would usually be, you are taking away a position from you ally TDs, who are usually better suited to sniping.
The M4A1 Revalorisé is not a “camp in bush” type of tank. Its a support tank, which means that you should not be on frontlines, but should be using your allies as armour; looking for flanking opportunities to be able to get in side shots and cause distractions for the enemies, and farm up damage with the gun.
The tank is quite tall, and has easily HE-able side armour (38mm).
So other than farming damage, your gameplay should also focus around your positioning. Hide the hull, expose only the turret, use gun depression whenever possible, utilize bushes (not at the back of the map), always try to have allies with you to take hits.
1484 HP is definitely not bad in tier 8, but it evaporates quickly when you have the hull of a tier 5 tank, and when enemies switch to HE. If you get rushed by a single enemy, you still have a chance to beat them with your superb gun, however, if rushed by multiple enemies, you will likely be destroyed very quickly.
The M4A1 Revalorisé’s gameplay can be compared to the Lansen C‘s gameplay, but the Rev can be more aggressive, purely due to having just a far better gun and higher HP. Its gameplay is also similar to the SU-130PM, but only when that tank plays more actively, when the SU is not being a sniper, it plays very similar to the M4A1 Revalorisé.
Overall
Overall the M4A1 Revalorisé is a very good tank when played right. By far the best feature it offers is the gun, having really no poor statistic, only the penetration is quite average. The mobility is good, but nothing too impressive. It has a tier 5 hull and turret in tier 8, which makes it very weak and vulnerable, however its gun mantlet can be quite troll, and the tank has a decent amount of HP.
Unfortunately, for its support playstyle, the camo rating is not that good.
Is it worth getting?
It is worth getting, however the tank has quite a niche playstyle. If you don’t think that you will enjoy the tank for its statistics, or for its playstyle, then its definitely not worth it. Some players just don’t like the fact that the Rev is fairly mediocre outside of its gun.
Players who will really enjoy this tank are players who like support mediums with great firepower. Its a purely gun-focussed tank, with decent mobility.
The M4A1 Revalorisé is worth 7,500 gold. Its a fairly unique tank just for having such a reliable and high DPM gun with high alpha. No other tier 8 medium tank can really boast this, with all other higher DPM tanks having much less alpha, and all higher alpha tanks having much less DPM.
Its gun aside, the armour is poor, and mobility is nothing special.

Historical info:
The M4A1 Revalorisé was a real tank. Not to be confused with the Israeli M51 “Super Sherman”, the M4A1 Revalorisé was the predecessor to the M51, with the Israeli tanks being based off this French upgraded Sherman.
