Turret outer cheeks 305-500mm+
Gun mantlet 405mm

Using -10 gun depression
Upper plate 465mm auto-ricochet
Turret cheeks (next to gun) 250-285mm
Turret outer cheeks 335-650mm+
Gun mantlet 525mm
Cupola 165mm
Armour tier 9 enemies:
Tier 9 medium tanks with lower penetration (tanks with 220-235mm on AP) may occasionally bounce of the lower plate, but that’s only when its extremely angled, definitely don’t rely on lower plate bounces, but they can happen sometimes.
These tanks are also the most likely to bounce off the turret cheeks (the weakest part 235-245mm)
Tanks with under 250mm on AP/APCR will find it hard to reliably penetrate the upper plate of the M60, especially if they are at distance or if the tank is angled slightly.
The turret is easier for tanks with this level of penetration to go though, so don’t rely on the turret to bounce everything.
Armour tier 10 enemies:
Against same tier enemies, lower penetration medium and light tanks (230-245mm) will struggle against the upper plate, even if its un-angled or just barely angled (depends if the M60 uses enhanced amour).
Higher penetration tanks with 255-260mm penetration will not struggle against the M60’s upper plate as long as they don’t rush their shot. When the upper plate is angled like in the images shown in above, enemies will still bounce off, at that angle the upper plate is 295-315mm.
When using gun depression most tier 10 tanks can very easily penetrate the M60 if they hit its weak turret cheeks, but if they miss and hit the mantlet or the outer cheeks, they won’t be able to penetrate (or need about 320mm premium penetration).
Gun
The M60 mounts a 105mm gun.
-Alpha damage is 350 on AP, 300 on HEAT, and 440 on HEP.
-It has a 6.3s reload giving it 3345 DPM.
-Penetration on AP is 255mm, HEAT is 300mm, and HEP is 53mm.
–Estimated aim time is 2.6s/2.8s
–Base aim time is 1.8s, but it can get down to 1.39s.
-Dispersion is 0.317/0.269
–Gun handling is 0.1/0.1/0.1, or 0.09/0.09/0.09 with Vertical Stabilizer.
-Gun depression is -10 degrees
This gun is an amazing all-rounder gun. Its not the best among mediums any of its statistics, but it is almost the best in all of its statistics.
It has very quick aim time, extremely good gun handling, great accuracy, very high DPM for its 350 alpha, and the joint highest penetration among tier 10 medium tanks. It also has a very nice -10 gun depresssion to use on ridgelines.
All of this combined makes the M60 just feel insanely accurate, its just got an extremely consistent gun that’s able to easily hit its shots without even needing to aim much.

The M60’s HEP shell.
-This is a standard shell, not premium.
-It has 440 alpha and 53mm of penetration.
Though it doesn’t have increased penetration like proper HESH/HEP, its alpha is better than average for tier 10 mediums, 440 instead of 400.
Mobility
-Top speed is a decent 52km/h forwards, and -20km/h in reverse
-Traverse speed is 67.4 deg/s on hard terrain, and 58.9 deg/s on medium terrain.
-In game acceleration rate is shown as 20.5 hp/t, it has a very strong 946hp engine for its 46 ton weight.
-Actual acceleration rate is 29.3 hp/t on hard terrain, and 25.6 hp/t on medium terrain.
–Terrain resistances are 0.7/0.8/1.2
While the top speed of the M60 is limited by tier 10 standards (but overall as a medium, 52km is not bad), note that this tank does have some good armour to justify this lower top speed.
Other than that, it has very high power to weight ratio, and can very quickly and easily reach its top speed, and even maintain it very well when going uphill. The traverse speed is also very high (average for a tier 10), and overall the tank just feels very quick and nimble, even though its a large vehicle.
Equipment, provisions, & consumables
The M60 has sandbag armour provisions & Improved Engine Power Boost consumable.
Full HP build:
–Improved engine power boost – Mandatory
–Multi-purpose restoration pack – Mandatory
–Adrenaline – Optional
–10% Food (Case of Cola) – Mandatory
–6% Sandbag armour – Mandatory
–3% Sandbag armour – Mandatory
–Improved Assembly (equipment) – Mandatory
This setup is min-maxing the M60’s traits. Essentially you fully focus on the M60’s HP, which gives the tank an insane 2147 HP, which is 171 more HP than the next highest HP medium in tier 10, and 327 more HP than the lowest HP medium in tier 10.
Food provisions are more important than fuel, as they improve the fighting capability of the tank (accuracy, reload, aim time, traverse speed, view range, etc), the loss of fuel can be offset by the improved engine boost consumable, which is a must-have in this setup.
If you notice constantly damaged modules and the multi-purpose restoration pack isn’t enough, then choose the small repair kit for the 3rd consumable.
If not, then use adrenaline, this pairs well with the increased HP of the tank.
All-round build:
–Adrenaline – Mandatory
–Multi-purpose restoration pack – Mandatory
–Improved engine power boost – Optional
–10% Food (Case of Cola) – Mandatory
–10 % Fuel – Mandatory
–6% Sandbag armour – Mandatory
This setup is opposite of min-maxing, rather than focussing on HP only, this setup gives you good traits in all aspects: Gun, mobility, and HP. With such a setup you will have either 2014 or 2090 HP depending on equipment choice.
Improved engine power boost is not as important in this setup, as you have 10% fuel installed, so it could be swapped for a repair kit if you get often-damaged modules.
This setup makes the M60 more of a Jack-of-all trades, rather than a specialized high-HP medium.
Equipment loadout
Gun Rammer/Calibrated Shells:
Both equipment pieces work on the M60, but start playing the tank with the gun rammer equipped. The M60 is very accurate, so generally has no issue sniping at weakpoints of tanks it can’t penetrate.
Try the tank with gun rammer equipped, it gives the tank a 6.3s reload and 3345 DPM, which is pretty good DPM for having 350 alpha.
Only use calibrated shells after you have played the tank for a decent amount of battles, and you really feel that your HEAT isn’t enough to penetrate the tanks you are facing.
Improved Assembly:
Enhanced armour does not benefit the M60 that much. Though it does make the turret, upper plate, and lower plate stronger, its not strong enough to justify using the equipment, especially when the M60 has such good HP.
The turret will still be easily penetrable to same tier mediums (due to the cheek weakpoints), and though the upper plate gets stronger, it was already strong without enhancing, and enemies can easily shoot the lower plate.
Use improved assembly, it will improve the tank’s base HP from 1900 to 1976, or up to 2147 when using sandbag armour provisions.
Refined Gun:
Due to the M60 having amazing gun handling and aim time, vertical stabilizer really isn’t needed, and you can’t feel its benefit much when using it.
Refined gun will improve the tank’s accuracy in all situations, and help the M60 to snap shots easily (which you can do a lot due to how good the gun is).
Gameplay advice
M60 is essentially just your standard medium tank up at tier 10. Most other mediums in the tier have specialized more stats into one area than another, the M60 is a bit of a Jack-of-all-trades.
Play the M60 like you would play other “standard” medium tanks. Mediums with decent mobility, decent hull and turret armour, and a good, standard caliber gun. Similar tanks to this are tanks like the Pershing, Indien Panzer, or any of the Centurion tanks.
General gameplay:
The gameplay of such “generic standard mediums” is fairly simple and familiar to most players.
-You have to use your mobility to get into positions on the MT flank, from there you try and bounce enemy shots off your turret or hull armour while trading with them (either alpha or DPM), the M60 kind of has both alpha and DPM, so it can be fairly confident in winning a fight.
-Occasionally you may need to fall back, while the M60 doesn’t have high speed, its acceleration means it can escape situations, but you have to anticipate it and leave before you would in other tanks. Acceleration lets this tank maintain great average speed, but if you have to run away, what you need is top speed.
-If facing an enemy gun, drive erratically and unpredictably, this is in hopes that the enemies will aim poorly or panic and miss. This can cause them to hit either the side armour (if well angled enough it will bounce), gun mantlet or turret outer cheeks, or the upper plate. Generally enemies aim at the very large lower plate of the M60, so its actually quite hard for them to miss.
-Sometimes your team will all go to a flank where you don’t want to play on. Follow them to that flank, its always better to be with the 6 other players on your team even if you think they are making the wrong play. Going alone is actually the wrong play, and will lose more than win if you decide to go as the only player on a flank
Flank around:
The above mentioned does not mean you should not make flanking plays, you just need to have enough information about which enemies are where before you decide to make a flanking play. If you see that 6 or even 7 tanks are all on 1 side of the map, you should take the opportunity to get around to the enemies side or rear and pincer them, distract them, and generally enemies fall quite quickly.
Use gun depression or go hulldown:
Going hulldown in the M60 is crucial, as its hull is so large. It takes away the lower plate as a weakpoint for enemies to shoot at, and that’s by far the biggest armour weakness of the tank.
Using gun depression forces enemies to aim for your cheeks, which can be hard to hit at longer ranges, and even more so with less accurate guns. It also makes the turret more resilient to HEAT ammo, when on flat ground, tanks with around 320mm HEAT can penetrate a larger portion of the turret cheeks.
Angle the hull:
As said above, the M60 benefits from angling. It has pretty good side armour, ranging from 77mm at the rear to 89mm over the the rest of the sides, they are also in a slight boat shape angle Along with the fact that the upper plate is fairly strong, and becomes impenetrable when angled, its best to try and always keep your tank at an angle to the enemy to improve the chances that they bounce off.
Overall
Armour – 6.5/10
Gun – 9/10
Mobility – 8.5/10
Speed – 5/10
M60 is overall a great tank.
Armour is good, the upper plate is strong and turret is strong, but the lower plate is very large and the turret cheeks have fairly large weakpoints.
Gun is perfect, with high penetration for a medium, good alpha damage & accuracy, great gun depression & gun handling. DPM is slightly below average but not bad.
Mobility is good, with a very strong engine, high acceleration rate, and high traverse speed.
Speed somewhat limited for a tier 10 medium, at 52km/h.
(Just like 121B, this tank isn’t “the best” in any one area, but its almost the best in all areas, which makes it a great all-round tank.)
Is it worth getting?
The M60 is worth getting, but only if you really truly love the gameplay of the M48 Patton, or just mediums in general.
This tank is better than the M48 in many regards, aim time, gun depression, acceleration, top speed, alpha damage and hull armour. The biggest difference is the M48’s stronger turret front, and different consumable/provision set. However, other than the turret armour, these differences are relatively minor, and the 2 tanks still play very similarly.
The M60 isn’t worth getting if you really aren’t too bothered about medium tanks, and if you ever want to consider buying it, you can have a free trial in the similar M48.
The M60 is among all tier 10 mediums, one of the most versatile medium that just has everything you need to do well in all situations.
The M60 is worth 18,500 gold. Note that the M48 Patton is very similar and can be played for free in the tech tree. However, M60 isn’t entirely pointless due to its better gun, mobility, and hull armour. Its a superb tank with just everything to offer, its a great all-rounder medium, but its not at all boring or mundane to play.
This is a “reward tank”, it does not make credits. The M60 has standard credit coefficient, which means that it makes roughly the same amount of credits as tech tree tanks.
The M60 is a collector tank, so can be sold for 7,500 gold
(Initially the tank was given out for free, so its original sell price was a lowly 50,000 credits.)

M60 Controversy
The M60 was one of the most controversial tanks ever released in WoT Blitz. Released on December 23 in 2016, the M60 was given to select players completely for free.
“The M60, and the accompanying “True Devotion” rare camouflage, were a gift to the truly devoted players of WoT Blitz. The requirements to be gifted these items were as follows:
-Research all 150 tanks in the tech tree
-Reach maximum level on all crew skills
-Obtain 150 Ace mastery badges (back then, Aces did not stack, so this requirement means to ace all 150 tech tree tanks)”
This caused controversy for a few reasons.
-M60 was added right as all medium tanks got massively nerfed on penetration (the end of the medium tank meta era), due to this it was the ONLY tier 10 medium with more than 300mm HEAT penetration (the original M60 had 330mm base HEAT penetration).
-After this HEAT penetration was quickly adjusted, M60 continued to cause controversy, not due to being a good tank (it was just average), but due to it being a tier 10 tank, given out completely for free, with very obscurely published requirements.
Historical info:
M60 is a modernization and almost completely remade upgrade of the M48 Patton tank.
It used an American version of the British 105mm L7 gun (hence why it has HEP in game), its hull could be either cast or welded, and featured a more conventional flat armour plate, rather than the usual rounded ones of American tanks. It also featured various other upgrades and changes compared to the M48 Patton.
M60 at first was an un-skinned tank. It could mount regular camouflages like all other tanks, but when Wargaming released it they put its current camouflage on.
M60 used to also have a hatch (mini turret) on the roof, just like the T95E6 does.
