Armour
(The MBT-B in the images is using Enhanced Armour)

Armour when flat and facing head-on:
Upper plate 360-400mm (center area 315mm)
Hull outer edges 295mm
Angled mid plate 300-310mm
Lower plate 190mm
Turret front 260-290mm
Gun mantlet 240-320mm
Turret right side weakpoint 180mm
Side armour:
MBT-B’s side armour is 80mm behind the tracks, and 70mm above the tracks, the tracks themselves are 25mm.
The tank can’t sidescrape due to the shape of the upper plate, and the weak edges of the upper plate.

vs 255mm AP (top image), 325mm HEAT (bottom image)
Using -8 gun depression:
Upper plate 440-485mm (center area 400mm)
Hull outer edges 335mm
Angled mid plate 385mm
Turret front 262-292mm
Gun mantlet 240-320mm
Turret right side weakpoint 195mm
Armour vs tier 8:
Against tier 8 tanks, the MBT-B has very strong armour. The upper plates are impenetrable to all premium ammo (except high-penetration TDs).
The turret front is very strong and can mostly resist premium ammo. Note that it is 260mm and flat (no angling) at its weakest point, which means enemies with around 265mm+ penetration will be able to go through on flat ground.
Note that the turret being turned, or using enhanced armour (making it 270mm flat), will cause it to be impenetrable to most tanks you face.
The main weakpoints facing tier 8 tanks are the lower plate, and the weakpoint that’s hidden behind the right side of the turret, both are only 180-190mm thick.
Armour vs tier 9-10:
Fighting tier 10 enemies, the upper plate is noticeably less invincible, as most tier 9-10 heavy tanks can penetrate it with their premium ammo (however MT & LT won’t be able to unless using calibrated shells).
The turret is also much weaker, as being only 260mm flat (or 270mm with enhanced armour), means that while it will bounce almost all standard ammo, premium ammo can penetrate quite easily, even when using gun depression.
The main weakpoints to standard ammo are still the lower plate and the hidden weakpoint on the right side of the turret, both are also weak to premium HESH.
Gun
The MBT-B mounts a 120mm autoreloader gun.
All auto-reloaders have 3 firing modes (you won’t notice in battle, but it helps to understand the gun better).
Single shot mode:
(Where you shoot one shell, reload, shoot…)
-Both shells have “the best” DPM, shell 1 has 1866 DPM, shell 2 has 1869 DPM.
Autoloader mode: (Shoot in 2-shell bursts, reload to full)
-Reload time from having 1 (reserve) shell in the clip to having 3 shells in the clip takes 21.06s.
-Intra-clip is 4s with 2 x 390, giving the tank 1867 DPM if it shoots like an autoloader would.
Auto-reloader mode:
(A combination of the first two. Only shooting until you need, and then reloading one-by-one.)
-Reload time for each shell is:
Shell 1* – 12.54s = 12.54s
Shell 2 – 8.52s (+ 4s) = 12.52s
*Shell 1 is first shell that begins reloading when your magazine completely is empty, the last shell you shoot when its full.
Gun stats:
-Alpha damage is 390 on AP, 330 on HEAT, and 500 on HE.
-Intra-clip reload is 4.00s with 2 shells, so it can deal 780 damage in 4s.
-Penetration on AP is 248mm, HEAT is 335m, and HE is 64mm.
–Estimated aim time is 3.7/3.9s.
–Base aim time is 2.45s, but it can get down to 1.88s.
-Dispersion is 0.349/0.296.
–Gun handling is 0.18/0.17/0.12, or 0.16/0.15/0.1 with Vertical Stabilizer.
-Gun depression is -8 degrees.
-Shell velocity is 920/1150/800 m/s on AP/HEAT/HE
This is a great gun overall, it has good gun handling, decent effective aim time, great penetration, & a decent level of burst damage. Aim time & dispersion aren’t impressive but the gun still feels fairly accurate, though you do have to stop to aim a bit.
DPM is the main downside of the gun, despite the ability to burst both shots and do 780 damage in 4s, the DPM of the gun is the same no matter how you use it, and that DPM is very low.
A 12.5s reload on either shell in single-shot mode, or a 21s reload from empty to full. Each mode gives the tank either 1866, 1867, or 1869 DPM, which is very low for 390 alpha damage, even for an auto-type gun.
Mobility
-Top speed is 38km/h forwards, and -18km/h in reverse.
-Traverse speed is 40.8 deg/s on hard terrain, and 31.4 deg/s on medium terrain.
-In game acceleration rate is shown as 15.7 hp/t, it has a strong 1001 horsepower engine for its 64 ton weight.
-Actual acceleration rate is 15.8 hp/t on hard terrain, and 12.0 hp/t on medium terrain.
–Terrain resistances are 1/1.3/1.85
MBT-B has an overall good level of mobility, especially for its armour. The top speed is good, with a very good reverse speed. Hull traverse speed & acceleration are good on both terrain types, which allows the tank to feel quite mobile and flexible in battle.
Equipment, provisions, & consumables
The MBT-B has no special consumables or provisions.
Improved Ventilation/Calibrated Shells:
While calibrated shells isn’t a bad choice, the MBT-B already has great penetration with 335mm on HEAT, and hardly ever struggles to deal with enemy armour.
Vents help to improve the reload times of each shell by roughly 0.3 and 0.4s. While it doesn’t sound like a lot, with DPM as low as this it does make a difference, especially when trading damage with other tanks with a similar reload time.
Enhanced Armour:
Due to its solid frontal armour, enhanced armour benefits the MBT-B quite significantly, adding roughly 10mm of effective armour over most areas of the frontal upper hull, and the turret front.
This 10mm extra thickness will help to bounce tier 8 premium ammo on the turret much more reliably, and high penetration tier 10 standard ammo on the turret (such as the VK 90, XM66F, T110E4, or tanks using calibrated shells).
Improved assembly can also work well, as the tank’s base armour thickness is already quite impressive, however generally enhanced armour will save much more HP than improved assembly can give.
Vertical Stabilizer/Refined Gun:
Either of these can work well as the MBT-B has fairly unimpressive stats in both aim time & dispersion, but has good gun handling.
Vertical stabilizer will help with the tank’s fairly unimpressive aim time for a 390 alpha gun, as the improved stabilization will essentially help the gun to get aimed in slightly faster after you’ve been moving the tank (which for a HT, is fairly often).
Refined gun helps to improve on the dispersion of the gun, from 0.349 down to 0.296, making it more accurate but slower aiming, which can be useful due to the MBT-B sometimes havitn to just snap shots due to its slow aim time.
Gameplay advice
The MBT-B plays somewhat similarly to the Progetto 66 or a Rinoceronte in tier 9, but it has better hull armour in exchange for terrible DPM.
General gameplay:
Due to its low DPM, the MBT-B generally can’t play aggressively unless you have good team support. This is just down to the tank needing ages to reload one/both shells and only to do an unimpressive 390 damage per shot.
Generally try to be more cautious and careful with over-extending and pushing to a point where you can’t retreat. You definitely have the mobility to do so, and you have the armour to hold, but even with a 2 shot auto-reloader, unless you have team support (or just a very inexperienced enemy), you’ll often struggle with that low DPM.
The tank can work both on the medium & heavy flank, as it has good mobility, however note that due to how the MT flank can sometimes be quite fast-paced, your long reload could hold you back more.
Use gun depression& go hulldown:
The MBT-B does well in hulldown positions due to its comfortable gun depression and good turret armour. In such positions its more comfortable to play as often you will have the chance to fully reload, as generally its enemies are more hesitant to make an aggressive push on a hulldown tank.
When using hulldown/gun depression positions, immediately pull back after shooting, as the MBT-B’s turret is weak to tier 9-10 premium ammo, and the very right side of the turret has a weakpoint that even tier 8 tanks can penetrate with standard ammo.
Gun flexibility:
You gain flexibility by having an autoreloader, you lose flexibility by having bad DPM.
Generally there is no disadvantage to any way which you use the gun, as you don’t gain nor lose DPM by using it in different ways. You can use it when the magazine is full, empty, or just dump 2 shots and reload back to full, the DPM is always the same.
In some situations it can be good to hold your 2nd shell and not immediately use it. While you don’t lose DPM by dumping both shells, being able to burst out 780 damage in 4s can be very useful to finish off an enemy or just to cripple them to low HP.
Overall gameplay of the MBT-B is a bit more cautious than other similar tanks due to its low DPM and long reloads (which are even worse than tier 8 heavies with 400 alpha). The good armour and mobility allow you to get to positions and hold well, however you need allied support for dealing with multiple enemies.
Overall
Armour – 6/10
Gun – 5/10
Mobility – 6/10
Speed – 5.5/10
MBT-B is overall a good tank.
Armour is good. A very solid upper plate & turret to standard ammo, and still decent against premium but with notable weaknesses. Can’t sidescrape or angle well, decent when using gun depression.
Gun has good penetration, gun handling, -8 gun depression, with a fairly flexible 2×390 auto-reloader. However, it has terrible DPM (among the worst in tier 9) with very mediocre aim time & dispersion.
Mobility is good, with good acceleration & great traverse speed. Reverse speed is very good at -18km/h.
Speed is good, 38km/h.
Is it worth getting?
The MBT-B isn’t anything super special. While it is only of only a few auto-reloader heavy tanks, it doesn’t have anything outstanding to offer. You can get a very similar gameplay experience with the Progetto 66 for free in the tech tree. While that tank doesn’t have good hull armour like the MBT-B, it has almost identical mobility with much better DPM.
The MBT-B is worth 12,000 gold. Its a good tank, but its nothing insanely strong. All of its great strengths in mobility and armour are offset by just a few stats in accuracy, DPM, & intra-clip reload, which make it still quite well balanced.
