Armour

(The Obj. 260 in the images is using Enhanced Armour)

Drag slider right -> to view 252mm AP
Drag slider <- left to view 330mm HEAT

When flat and facing head-on:
Upper plate 315-330mm (up to 350mm on edges)
Lower plate 185mm
Turret 280-400mm
Turret cheek weakpoints 260-280mm

Armour angling:
Note the pike nose shape of the Obj. 260’s frontal armour. This pike nose is also at a very shallow angle, 64 degrees, which means the armour relies heavily on angling and not thickness.

In the above images, you can see how turning the hull makes the closest upper plate weak, as turning the hull reduces its angle. Try to avoid angling the hull in battle, just keep it head-on to the enemy gun, since that’s where its strongest.

Side armour:
The Obj.260’s sides are 100mm thick, which is decent, but the tank can’t sidescrape due to its pike nose.

The Obj.260 also has a spaced section on its sides, similar to the IS-7 or IS-3, but its not as strong as either of those tanks, and can occasionally be penetrated.

Armour vs tier 9 tanks:
Against tier 9 tanks, all enemies will struggle to penetrate the upper plate, even with premium ammo. Only a few exceptions like the IS-8 with 340mm HEAT, or the Jagdtiger with 352mm APCR will be able to penetrate the Obj.260’s (un-angled) upper plate.

If the hull is turned, then it becomes much easier to penetrate, and many enemies won’t even need premium ammunition to go through.

The lower plate is weak to all enemies, and the weakpoints above the gun can be penetrated by most tier 9 tanks. The rest of the turret is quite strong, even to premium ammo.

Armour vs tier 10 tanks:
Most tier 10 tanks will be unable to penetrate the Obj.260’s upper plate with standard ammo. Only TDs with very high standard penetration will be able to go through.

If the hull is angled slightly, then most heavy tanks will be able to penetrate the upper plate with premium ammo. If its not angled at all, then most heavies will struggle to penetrate (since not many tanks have over 330mm HEAT penetration).

Mediums will be unable to penetrate the upper plate of the Obj.260 unless they use calibrated shells, or unless the Obj.260 is angled too far.

Just like with tier 9, the turret is fairly strong but has a few weakpoints which standard ammo can penetrate.

Gun

The Obj.260 mounts a 122mm gun

-Alpha damage is 400 on APCR, 340 on HEAT, and 500 on HE
-It has a 7.7s reload, giving it 3100 DPM
-Penetration on APCR is 260mm, HEAT is 312mm, and HE is 68mm.
Estimated aim time is 3.2/3.4s
Base aim time is 2.1s, but it can get down to 1.71s.
-Dispersion is 0.326/0.277
Gun handling is 0.17/0.17/0.1, or 0.15/0.15/0.09 with Vertical Stabilizer.
-Gun depression is -6 degrees

Overall this is a very good gun, it feels very accurate, has a quick reload, and great aim time and gun handling. Its only real downside is the low premium penetration of 312mm HEAT, but it can make up for this with being able to more accurately snipe weakpoints.

Mobility

-Top speed is 50km/h forwards, and -20km/h in reverse
-Traverse speed is 41.5 deg/s on hard terrain, and 38.3 deg/s on medium terrain.
-In game acceleration rate is shown as 18.4 hp/t, it has a very strong 1127 horsepower engine for its 61 ton weight.
-Actual acceleration rate is 15.4 hp/t on hard terrain, and 14.2 hp/t on medium terrain.
Terrain resistances are 1.2/1.3/1.8

This is a great mobility profile for a heavy tank. The Obj.260 has great top speed, with a very quick reverse speed, it also has some of the best traverse speed of any tier 10 heavy, and it has good acceleration to be able to reach its top speed. The tank overall just feels very quick and mobile for a heavy with decent armour.

Equipment, provisions, & consumables

The Obj. 260 does not have any special provisions or consumables.

Gun Rammer/Calibrated Shells:
Either equipment choice is valid on this tank, but as usual, you should start by playing it with a gun rammer, and only switch to calibrated shells if you really desperately feel that its penetration isn’t enough.

With calibrated shells, penetration on APCR increases from 260mm to 273mm, HEAT goes from 312mm to 353mm, and HE from 68mm to 73mm.

Gun rammer increases the DPM of the Obj. 260 from 2945 up to 3100, and reload time from 8.2s down to 7.7s; both very good for 400 alpha.

Improved Assembly:
Since the Obj. 260 relies so heavily on its armour angling on its front plates (and not its base thickness), and due to the armour being a pike nose, you can’t always guarantee that enemies will be at that perfect front angle. When it is angled correctly, the 260’s front is quite strong, and will even withstand most premium ammo.

The Obj.260 also has a fairly large lower plate with quite a few turret weakpoints. Due to these reasons, enhanced armour doesn’t really benefit the tank that much, and improved assembly will be more useful in most battles.

Its far more useful to increase the HP of the tank with improved assembly, taking it from 2400 HP up to 2496 HP. This will let the tank take more hits, and survive longer in battles.

Vertical Stabilizer:
Since the accuracy of the Obj.260 is already very good for a heavy, it does not benefit much from using refined gun.

The Obj.260 is a fast and active heavy tank, it doesn’t often sit still and always fully aim the gun.  The tank gains a lot more by using vertical stabilizer, which makes the tank more accurate during and after movement, stopping the dispersion from blooming out so much, and helping it to snap shots in without much aiming.

Gameplay advice

The Obj. 260 is a proper heavium tank. It can play on either the MT side or the HT side of the map, and it can work well. It has enough armour and HP to brawl with other heavies fairly comfortably, and it has enough mobility and DPM to deal with mediums.

General gameplay:
Play the Obj. 260 in a fast, brawly playstyle. This tank wants to be using its great speed and mobility to catch out enemies and take up early positions; and its quick reload with great accuracy lets it brawl with enemy tanks effectively.

It works well either on the MT side or the HT side side of the map.
-If you go to the HT side of the map, play more of a support role. Though the armour of the Obj.260 is pretty good, its still got quite a few weakpoints, and is less suited to damage soaking than other heavies.
-If you go the the medium side of the map, be the spearhead and push the flank aggressively. There’s no point going to the MT side in a heavy, and then not pushing, it just puts your team at a disadvantage. The tank has good HP and strong armour to soak hits against mediums, which have lower alpha and penetration, and generally 500-600 less HP than your tank.

If making a pushing or flanking play, try to always keep an ally with you, so they can support you against enemies. The Obj.260 is quite capable on its own, but will still struggle in a 1v1 against certain tanks, and especially if it faces multiple enemies in a 2v1.

Don’t angle the hull:
Always keep the hull armour faced directly to the enemy, this is where its strongest and will bounce most.

Any amount of angling will decrease the armour thickness, and make it much easier for any ammo type to penetrate through. This happens due to the very well angled pike-nose armour, which isn’t actually that thick, and relies on the angle to get bounces.

For this same reason, don’t facehug enemies, as they can just shoot down on your upper plates with standard ammo and easily penetrate.

Go hulldown:
Due to the strong upper plate and good turret armour of the Obj.260, its strong in hulldown positions.

When the lower plate is hidden, enemies can only penetrate the turret weakpoints, which are quite small; or will have to load premium ammo against the upper plate.

Try to keep making small movements when hulldown, this will throw off the enemies’ aim if they try to hit the various weakpoints on the turret, giving you a higher chance that they miss or bounce.

Use gun depression:
Due to being overall just a tall and large tank, using the gun depression can feel very awkward. The Obj. 260’s gun is mounted even higher off the ground than the IS-7’s, so it can use even fewer positions.

Whenever going up to a ridge to use gun depression, drive parallel to the ridge, it will allow the tank to fully utilize its gun depression, even though its a fairly mediocre -6 degrees. There’s a guide on how to do this here.

The Obj.260 has quite odd an playstyle, since it has the characteristics of a heavium, but it also has strong frontal armour.

This allows the tank to be quite flexible in its playstyle, it can either be a faster heavy tank, taking early positions and also brawling with other heavies; or it can be a proper heavium, playing on the medium flank and using its great speed to push through the flank.

Overall

Armour – 5.5/10
Gun – 9/10
Mobility – 8/10
Speed – 10/10

Obj.260 is overall a great tank.

Armour is strong on the upper plates, and decent on the turret. Side armour is decent, HE protection is very good. Armour not angle/sidescrape usable.
Gun has great DPM, aim time, gun handling, accuracy, and a quick reload. Penetration is somewhat low, gun depression is poor, and alpha damage is decent.
Mobility is good, a Obj.260’s engine is strong, and it accelerates quickly. Traverse speed is also very good, and reverse speed is high for a HT.
Speed is incredibly good at 50km/h.

Obj. 260 is a very good tank. Its quite well rounded as it just has all 3 aspects of armour, mobility, and gun. The armour is good, especially considering the mobility and speed that you can get in this tank. Its gun may not seem too special at first glance, but its one of the most reliable in terms of accuracy and hitting targets, and it has high DPM to go with it.

Is it worth getting?

The Obj.260 is worth getting. For a tier 10 heavium, it offers a very unique package, as it has armour with good mobility, and a great gun. Its a very enjoyable tank and is comfortable to play, its also statistically strong.

Most players should be able to enjoy this tank, due to its accurate gun, great speed, and decent armour. However, you may want to avoid buying it if you hate tanks with poor gun depression or low penetration, as this has both of these.

The Obj. 260 is worth 19,000 gold. Its a very good tank and quite enjoyable to play. It has a few unique traits, but it won’t be the most new player friendly tank, as its armour isn’t foolproof and the tank is quite large without great gun depression.
