Armour

(The Silencer in the images is using Improved Assembly)

Drag slider right -> to view 180mm AP
Drag slider <- left to view 53mm HE

When flat and facing head-on:
Upper plate 92mm
Lower plate 65mm

Turret face 78mm
Angled turret cheeks 100mm

Side armour:
The hull and turret sides range from 48 to 52mm in base thickness, making them decently protected from most HE shells, but high penetration HE can still easily penetrate.

Armour vs tier all tier 6-8 enemies:
The Silencer has essentially no armour. Its front can resist HE form most tanks, and it has much better overall armour than the Charioteer, which its based off; however its only better against HE. Against standard ammo, the tank can easily be penetrated essentially everywhere, by every enemy.

Gun

The Silencer mounts a 105mm gun in its top configuration.

-Alpha damage is 310 on AP, 260 on HEAT, and 400 on HE
-It has 2 shells in the magazine, with a 2.5s intra-clip reload, so in 2.5s it can burst out 620 damage.
-Reload time is 14s, giving it 2250 DPM
-Penetration on AP is 214mm, HEAT is 252mm, and HE is 50mm.
Estimated aim time is 3.1/3.4s
Base aim time is 1.75s, but it can get down to 1.49s.
-Dispersion is 0.313/0.281
Gun handling is 0.21/0.21/0.09, or 0.18/0.18/0.08 with Vertical Stabilizer.
-Gun depression is -7 degrees

This is overall a great gun. It has a quick burst with good alpha damage, great aim time, accuracy, penetration, and even a quick reloading magazine. Gun depression is decent but nothing special, and gun handling is fairly average for a TD. This gun handling means you must stop to aim in, since the gun blooms out quite a lot when moving.

Mobility

-Top speed is 48km/h forwards, and -15km/h in reverse
-Traverse speed is 57.5 deg/s on hard terrain, and 44.3 deg/s on medium terrain.
-In game acceleration rate is shown as 20.2 hp/t, it has a decent 801hp engine for its 40 ton weight.
-Actual acceleration rate is 20.2 hp/t on hard terrain, and 15.5 hp/t on medium terrain.
Terrain resistances are 1/1.3/1.6

Overall this is good mobility on hard terrain, having a great acceleration rate and traverse speed, it can very easily utilize the 48km top speed.
On medium terrain its overall decent mobility. Its acceleration and traverse are noticeably less than on hard terrain, however still decent for a tier 7 TD.

Equipment, provisions, & consumables

The Silencer doesn’t have any special provisions or consumables.

Calibrated Shells:
Vents can work on the Silencer, since its gun really doesn’t lack penetration, and has good accuracy and aim time. It generally doesn’t struggle to penetrate enemies.

However calibrated shells on this tank works very well, since its gun is all about that 2 shot burst. Calibrated shells makes delivering these 2 shots more effective, and allows you to use premium ammo less (hence increasing your burst damage against certain enemies). It also increases your HE penetration. Though the HE isn’t impressive, its still decent, and 2 x 400 can completely devastate any light tank you face.

Calibrated shells would increase AP penetration from 214mm to 225mm, HEAT from 252mm to 277mm, and HE from 50mm to 55mm.

Camouflage net:
Don’t use improved optics. Tank destroyers aren’t meant to scout for themselves, and this tank has poor base view range anyway. Instead improve the camo rating, as the Silencer actually doesn’t have great camo rating for a TD, and it needs this to be able to remain sneaky in battle to conserve HP and position well.

With camouflage installed, a level 7 camouflage crew skill, and when using camo net, the Silencer has 60% camo rating when stationary, 43% when moving, and 17% after firing.

Improved Assembly:
Silencer has no armour to enhance, so use improved assembly to increase the HP. With improved assembly, the HP increases from 1050 up to 1113, which is quite a good amount for a tier 7 TD.

Vertical Stabilizer:
Due to the amazing aim time and dispersion of the tank, it doesn’t need to improve either of these aspects. Gun handling does need to be improved, as its quite poor on this tank, and especially as the Silencer has a turret, an autoloader, and can play a pretty active role.

The vertical stabilizer is very useful on a tank like this, since it helps the autoloader to remain more accurate after its first shot and when unloading the 2nd one. It also helps the tank to retain more of its accuracy when it moves, which is important for this tank’s good mobility, and since it sometimes has to turn the hull to get the gun onto a target.

Gameplay advice

The Silencer is a mix of sniper and support tank. It has enough mobility and DPM to be able to play actively and support allies in 2nd line positions, but it can also snipe effectively if it needs to.

The tanks its most comparable to are the GSOR 1008 or Bourrasque, since it has some features of each. In terms of where it positions during a battle and how it uses the gun and HP, its more like a GSOR. However it can also feel similar to a Bourrasque when playing actively, just due to being more mobile than the GSOR, and able to be more of a MT when needed.

General gameplay:
The Silencer can start the battle in 3 ways, depending on the matchup. It can snipe, support heavy tanks, or support medium tanks. If top tier and facing tier 6 enemies, you could even play it as a lightly armoured medium tank.

Generally try to take 2nd line positions or sniping positions, since this tank doesn’t have armour at all its not suited to being right in front of enemy guns. Also try to use bushes wherever possible, the camo rating in the Silencer is quite poor for a TD.

This tank is all about the 2 shot autoloader, so try to always get this into positions where it can work. Try to keep solid cover around you in case you have to hide from enemies, for just to reload.
Sometimes the Silencer becomes a 310 alpha 1-shot tank with a 14s reload (due to misses, etc), since its a paper TD it can be harder to put in both shots and be more aggressive for that, so make sure to have cover around to reload in case you do miss or bounce.

Use bushes:
Bushes increase your camo rating, which helps you to stay hidden in battle. This is important for the Silencer due to its poor armour, and since its autoloader has some really high carrying potential if you get into a late game situation.

If you can conserve HP with bushes, it gives you more opportunity to deal damage and trade later in the battle.

Trading damage:
Try to trade in bursts if possible. 2.5s is a fairly quick intra clip, so try to not let enemies run away in that time, so you can put that 2nd shot into their tank.

Don’t chase damage unnecessarily, and especially if it makes your tank exposed to the enemies. You have low HP so try to conserve that for use later in the battle.

Expose your tank only when fully reloaded, and when you know you can make an effective trade. Don’t expose your tank if you know there are multiple enemies or high damage enemies who its just not worth trading HP for.

Using the gun:
Aim well, try to avoid snap-shots (due to bad gun handling), try to prioritize/focus the same target to take them down quicker. When the gun hits both shots, its very strong for a tier 7, but sometimes this tank can become a 14s reload for 310 alpha, either due to missed shots, bounces, or just due to enemies pulling into cover.

Since this tank is all about that 2 shot burst of 2 x 310, try to put yourself into positions where you can achieve that burst damage; or at least have the cover to reload if you do miss one of the shots.

Flank and reposition:
Due to the good flexibility of this tank, you can quite easily reposition or flank during a battle. The turret allows you to set up shots well on enemies, allowing the tank to play a more active role, flanking to other sides of the maps, behind enemies, or even playing as a proper medium tank towards the end of the battle.

Don’t just waste the mobility by camping. If there are good opportunities to change positions to get more shots, take them.

Overall the Silencer is a mix of gameplays. It can be a sniper in some situations, it can be a support tank in most situations, and it can be a medium tank in late game scenarios, or when top tier in a good matchup.

The gun is all about the autoloader burst, and the tank platform should just be used to get that gun into positions where it works, wither through flanking, being more active, or with damage trading.

Tank gameplay:

Overall

Armour – 3/10
Gun – 9/10
Mobility – 5.5/10
Speed – 6/10

Overall the Silencer is a great tank.

Armour is very weak to AP, but has good HE protection. Frontally it can withstand 65-95mm of HE penetration, on the sides it can withstand 55-60mm.
Gun is amazing, great accuracy, aim time, bust damage, penetration, & good DPM for an autoloader. Gun depression is decent at -7, gun handling is fairly poor, which is normal for a TD.
Mobility is decent, it accelerates and turns quickly on hard terrain, but is less impressive on medium terrain. Reverse speed is average.
Speed is fairly good at 48km/h.

Is it worth it?

This tank can easily be earned during Season 3, and is definitely worth it. It has a very unique gun for a TD, and has some very impressive stats on that gun. It offers interesting gameplay, and has the potential to be a really strong tank when played right.

The Silencer is worth 7,500 gold. Its a great tank with great capabilities due to its strong gun stats and quite good mobility and flexibility in battle. Newer players may struggle to play this tank in a more active role due to its armour and low HP, but experienced players will be able to take full advantage of the capabilities of this tank.

Camo cost:

Silencer has a permanent appearance which can’t be adjusted.

Its shown here in the stock configuration.

Stock grind

As you upgrade modules, the stats of each module improves slightly, improvements are not large, they are very gradual.
This tank starts with a 90mm gun that does 210 damage, upgrading to 220, then 240 damage on the T2-3 guns. Only the T4 gun becomes a 105mm with 310 alpha.

If you want to check the stats of each module, you can view the tank in-game, or use gamemodels3d or Blitzstars.

Important:
-Only the top turret improves turret armour, all the stock and intermediate turrets have the same armour (the “improvement” is 8mm on the front, 4mm on the sides)
-Stock and top turrets/guns have the same gun depression.
-Tracks only upgrade traverse speed, not  gun handling  nor terrain resistances.
-The hull doesn’t upgrade, the armour is the same throughout.

Gun:
The stock guns all upgrade in alpha & intra-clip reload, going from 210 to 220 to 240 on alpha, and from 3s to 2.73s to 2.5s. The stock gun very noticeably has much worse DPM (by almost 900), accuracy, intra-clip, and aim time. These are all “usable” but are by no means even decent for tier 7.

Turret:
The stock turret is only weaker than the top turret by 8mm on the front and 4mm on the sides. This doesn’t affect gameplay at all, since this is an armourless tank anyway.

Each turret does upgrade in HP, view range, and turret traverse speed.

Engine/tracks:
The stock engine and tracks are fine on this tank. The tank is less mobile than when upgraded, but not by an insane amount. The stock mobility is perfectly usable.

vs 60mm HE

Turret front 70mm
Turret sides 47mm

Upgrading:
As said above, upgrading each module improves it slightly. In total there are 4 of each module on this tank. 1 stock module, 2 intermediary modules, and 1 top module for each turret, gun, engine, and tracks.

Each gun upgrade makes it slightly more accurate, higher penetration, quicker reload, quicker intra clip, and gives higher alpha damage.
Each turret upgrade gives better view range, HP, and turn rate.
Each engine & track upgrade improves traverse speed and acceleration rate.

Eventually you get to the top modules, these are the only modules which change in appearance.
-The top gun has by far the best accuracy and penetration, but also increases in both alpha damage and DPM.
-The top turret improves in armour by a minor amount, but has a very noticeable traverse and HP upgrade.
-The engines and tracks are better than the stock versions and output the best possible mobility for the tank.
