Armour

vs 180mm AP (left image) & 220mm APCR (right image)
Flat ground:
Upper plate 222mm
Lower plate 125mm
Turret face (upper and lower) 218mm
Outer turret cheeks 315mm+

vs 220mm APCR
Using -7 gun depression:
Upper plate 275-290mm
Lower plate 130mm
Upper turret face 250mm
Lower turret face 200mm
Turret cheeks 360mm+
(When using gun depression the lower plate is usually hidden)

vs 220mm APCR
Sidescraping:
The side armour of the Škoda is an impressive 96mm thick.
With its well angled armour its able to easily pull off sidescraping and even over-angle against same tier tanks.
The tank can also reverse sidescrape very well.
VS tier 6:
Most tier 6 Light, Medium, and Heavy tanks have from 125-160mm of penetration. On premium ammo they have 170-200mm of penetration.
What this means is that the Škoda doesn’t even need to angle against these enemies and it will shrug off every round thrown at it.
The lower plate will be weak to just about everything, so do what you can to hide it.
VS tier 7:
Tier 7 tanks are much in the same group as tier 6, all have fairly low standard pen, and nothing can penetrate the turret or upper plate without premium ammo.
Even with premium ammo, most MT and HT will still struggle to penetrate.
VS tier 8:
Tier 8 tanks will have a much easer time against the hull of the Škoda T 45.
Many tanks in tier 8 have 220mm+ penetration, so if the tank is not angled, these enemies will easily cut through the upper plate and turret of the tank.
The best tactic for tier 8 enemies is to angle, never keep your tank straight-on to the enemies and always have the hull turned slightly. Sidescraping will work very well, as 96mm side armour is above average even in tier 8.
When angled against tier 8 enemies, it can still quite easily get bounces off the upper plate.
Playing against a Skoda T 45:
If a Škoda is using gun depression against you, and the frontal track wheels are exposed, shoot upwards into the underflaps of the hull. The area here is 20mm thick, so every gun larger than 60mm will be able to overmatch it.
Alternatively, if you have enough penetration, aim to the lower left and right areas of the gun. Due to the way the turret is angled, the lower half of it actually becomes much weaker when it uses gun depression.
If the tank is hulldown and not using gun depression, shoot the hatch. Its about 165mm thick so most tanks have a chance to penetrate it even if they need premium ammo. The hatch becomes much smaller when the tank uses its gun depression, so its barely a weakness in that situation.
If a Škoda is sidescraping against you and you have no way to penetrate it, shoot HE just above the tracks and under the hull area. As mentioned the plate above this is only 20mm thick, and HE splash even from the smallest caliber guns will do significant damage to it.
You can use the same tactic on the lower turret face, as the hull deck and engine deck are also both 20mm thick, easily damaged by HE splash.
Gun
Škoda T 45 mounts an 88mm gun, it has an unusual amount of alpha damage.
Each ammo type of the Škoda has some important points that are worth considering:
AP:
175mm pen which is average. 210 alpha damage which is below average.
14% penetration loss at 100 meters, which means it has very low penetration at mid to long range.
995m/s shell velocity, very good.
HEAT:
243mm pen, very above average. 190 alpha is average, add on a faster reload and it has above average premium DPM.
It doesn’t lose pen over distance, but has a very bad 600m/s shell velocity.
HE:
44mm pen, average. 260 alpha is only 10 below average, with a faster reload it has one of the best HE DPMs of tier 7 HT (good healer in Burning Games).
Again it has a very bad 600m/s shell velocity.
-Reload time is 5s.
-DPM is 2536 on its AP ammo, but its HEAT still does a very impressive 2295. HE has a very high 3140 DPM.
-Penetration is 175mm on AP, 243mm on HEAT, & 44mm on HE
-Estimated aim time is 5.2/5.6s
-Base aim time is 3.16, but can get as low as 2.69
-Dispersion is 0.344/0.310
–Gun handling is 0.18/0.18/0.14. With Vertical Stabilizer its 0.15/0.15/0.12.
-Gun depression is -7 degrees
Overall the gun is a mixed bag of stats.
Though it has amazing DPM, high penetration, and decent gun handling; its aim time is terrible, and its dispersion is also not great.
This tank’s effective DPM is less than its raw DPM, due to how inaccurate the tank is. You either need to spend time aiming, or you miss your shot; either outcome will lower your effective DPM.
In close ranges, where the gun can’t miss, its an almost perfect weapon due to its incredible damage output and good penetration.
Its reload must be noted, since its increased alpha on HEAT and HE (compared to AP alpha) mean that all shell types have extremely high DPM.
Mobility
-Top speed is 37km/h, reverse speed is -13km/h
-In game acceleration rate is shown as 12.2 hp/t, it has a decent 573hp engine for its 47 ton weight.
-Actual acceleration rate is 11.1hp/t on hard and 8.2 hp/t on medium terrain.
-Traverse speed is 34.6 deg/s on hard and 25.4 deg/s on medium terrain
–Terrain resistances are average for a heavy, having 1.1/1.5/2
The Škoda T 45 has terrible mobility, its both slow in acceleration and in turning, which is just a bad combination.
The top speed is good, but it will be a rare occasion when you actually reach it. This tank will struggle to get to its top speed, and it will lose a huge amount of its speed when it turns due to low traverse speed.
However, if you consider the impressive armour of the tank, there’s good reason for such poor mobility.
Equipment, provisions, & consumables
Škoda T 45 has no special provisions/consumables.
Engine Power Boost:
The best consumable setup for this tank is to use adrenaline, large repair kit, and engine power boost.
Adrenaline is needed to take advantage of your high DPM and be able to utilize it in quickly changing situations or pushing the enemy. Repairs are needed as if this tank loses any functionality from its gun or engine it will become very frustrating for you as a player. Engine power boost is essential as it can allow you to actually utilize your quite good top speed to get into position relatively quickly, or relocate much more conveniently.
Gun Rammer:
The penetration potential of this tank is already very high, 243mm of HEAT pen is very impressive for a tier 7 tank, so there’s really not much need to improve the penetration of the Škoda.
Instead, take advantage of its fast firing gun by using gun rammer. Its 2536 DPM is very good for its tier, and a 5s reload will be able to easily put in 2 shots for the enemy’s 1.
Enhanced Gun Laying Drive:
Though the tank has terrible penetration loss on AP, and very slow shell velocity on HEAT and HE; don’t use a supercharger.
The bigger weakness of the tank is by far its aim time, which is worse than same tier tanks with 400-640 alpha. Its appalling and it desperately needs improving. Using the gun laying drive improves the in-game aim time by 0.5s, a huge amount for such a low alpha gun.
Enhanced armour:
The Škoda T 45 has a very healthy 1600 base HP, the 2nd highest in tier 7, so you don’t need to worry about running out of HP to quickly in this tank. Instead focus on making the armour even stronger with enhanced armour. The Škoda has just enough armour to bounce tier 8 tanks, but you have to be careful with angling, and exposing your turret (which is weaker than the hull).
Using enhanced armour would improve the upper plate armour from 222mm up to 232mm, and the turret face from 218mm up to about 226mm. The sides will also go up to a very strong 100mm.
Engine Accelerator:
This tank has a weak engine, and while its traverse speed may be bad, that won’t really matter if you can’t even get to the frontline. Using the engine accelerator gives the Škoda T 45 about 0.5 effective hp/t on all terrain types. It doesn’t sound like much but its essential to have on this tank.
Vertical Stabilizer:
The gun handling of the Škoda T 45 is not bad, however it definitely doesn’t need to use refined gun. While its dispersion may be poor, the tank doesn’t sport a sniper play style, so refined gun wouldn’t have much impact when this tank is played on the frontline.
Use vertical stabilizer to improve the dispersion-on-movement, it will make your gun much more reliable in the close-quarters battles it should be fighting in.
Gameplay advice
Always angle. This tank is all about its strong armour, and it can angle very well. Never face just head-on to the enemies, turn the hull slightly to the side. It increases the thickness of your upper and lower plates, while at the same time giving the enemy less of the front plates to shoot at.
Sidescrape whenever possible, just as with angling the tank, its armour becomes much stronger in a sidescrape position.
Be careful of the tank’s turret weakness when using its gun depression, the lower half of the turret will be weaker than when the tank is on flat ground, and it is a noticeable weakpoint when the tank uses gun depression.
Use the engine power consumable at the beginning of battle to reach positions quickly, otherwise you will find yourself at the back of the pack as one of the slowest heavy tanks.
Other than this its just a regular heavy tank with solid and side armour, and should be played as such.
Overall
The Škoda T 45 has some really good stats and it has some really bad stats. It has some of the strongest armour in tier 7, one of higher DPM outputs, which very good penetration. However its not very accurate, nor is it very fast or mobile.
It makes it an alright tank in general, it can perform very well, and it can be quite fun to play due to that strong armour and high damage output.
Is it worth getting?
The Škoda T 45 is basically just a different version of the Tiger I, Tiger (P), or VK 45.03. If you liked any of those tanks but just wished they had more armour, then this could be a tank you really enjoy.
The Škoda T 45 is worth 4,500 gold, its a good tank, with very impressive armour, and quite a scary gun when it is able to hit. Only its mobility isn’t the best, but its still usable. It can be a very fun tank due to its overall armour effectiveness and its very quick reload.
