Armour

(The T23E3 in the images is using Improved Assembly)

vs 160mm AP
When flat and facing head-on:

Upper plate 100-105mm (machine gun port 88mm)
Lower plate 105-110mm
Turret 120-135mm

While the tank has got -10 gun depression, the armour doesn’t increase enough to be able to bounce enemy shots.
The upper plate would increase to 124-130mm, and the turret would be 130-145mm when using gun depression.

Armour vs tier all 6-8 tanks:
The T23E3 has no armour at all to all tier 6-8 tanks. The only exceptions to this are very low penetration tier 6 MT and LT, which have only 125-130mm of penetration on AP. These tanks will struggle to penetrate the turret.

All other tanks will easily penetrate the T23E3 using standard ammo, but the tank can stand up to HE from the front.

The gun mantlet may occasionally get a few bounces, but its best to not rely on it, as it won’t be consistent.

Gun

The T23E3 mounts a 75mm gun

-Alpha damage is 160 on AP, 135 on APCR, and 200 on HE
-It has a 3.4s reload, giving it 2850 DPM
-Penetration on AP is 160mm, APCR is 208mm, and HE is 38mm.
Estimated aim time is 3.3/3.6s
-Dispersion is 0.326/0.293
Gun handling is 0.15/0.15/0.08, or 0.13/0.13/0.07 with Vertical Stabilizer.
-Gun depression is -10 degrees

The T23E3 has an amazing gun. It has the best DPM of any tier 7 medium tank, a very quick reload, great aim time, and accuracy and gun depression. The gun handling is decent, and the T23E3 has a very nice 3.5 dispersion-after-shot.

Mobility

-Top speed is 56.3km/h forwards, and -30km/h in reverse
-Traverse speed is 59.8 deg/s on hard terrain, and 51.3 deg/s on medium terrain.
-In game acceleration rate is shown as 19.6 hp/t, it has a fairly strong 690 horsepower engine for its 35 ton weight.
-Actual acceleration rate is 32.7 hp/t on hard terrain, and 28 hp/t on medium terrain.
Terrain resistances are extremely good at 0.6/0.7/1.1

The mobility of the T23E3 is extremely good. Its a very mobile tank thanks to its great terrain resistances and effective acceleration, but it also has an unmatched 30km reverse speed, which makes it very comfortable when needing to reverse out of situations. The traverse speed is decent but nothing amazing.

Equipment, provisions, & consumables

The T23E3 does not have any special provisions or consumables.

Gun Rammer:
The T23E3 is a DPM reliant tank, the high DPM is the main point of the T23E3, and using calibrated shells really just ruins the whole point of the tank. Calibrated shells are also just not needed, as the T23E3 has good penetration for a tier 7 MT.

Use the gun rammer, as that’s what gives the tank its insane 2850 DPM and 3.4s reload.

Improved Assembly:
Though the T23E3 may sometimes get the occasional bounce, there is no real reason to use enhanced armour, as its armour just isn’t reliable and is not thick enough to be worth enhancing.

Its better to use improved assembly and increase the tank’s HP from 1250 up to 1325.

Vertical Stabilizer:
Just like with the Y5 ELC bis, the T23E3 should use vertical stabilizer, as its reload is so quick that the tank needs to try and reduce its after-shot-dispersion as much as possible.

The T23E3 also does not have the best gun handling. It is decent, but its still best to use vertical stabilizer to improve it, especially as the alternative is refined gun, which is not needed on this tank due to having good accuracy.

Gameplay advice

The T23E3 plays quite similarly to the Comet or the Y5 ELC bis, its a support tank that bases its gameplay around using its mobility to put its gun in positions to just farm up damage with the high DPM.

You should start the battle by going to the MT side of the map (or just go with your team if they all go in one same direction), choose a 2nd line position. Don’t just rush right to the very front, as your tank has weak armour and doesn’t trade well for single-shot-damage.
Try to only poke out when you’re reloaded, even though the reload of this tank is short, its still a terrible idea to not pull into cover to reload.

Trade in DPM:
Always try to shoot your enemies at least twice while they reload. If you trade damage like this, you are guaranteed to out-DPM the enemy. Never take a hit from an enemy tank and just put in one shot, always try to put in at least 2. The only cases where you don’t do this are against tank with autoloading guns.

Try to avoid being damaged:
Though this tank has good HP, its still best to try and stay out of enemy lines of fire. Its armour is weak and all standard rounds can easily penetrate its hull.

If you must expose the tank, try and use gun depression or hulldown positions. The turret of this tank is not strong, but there’s still a chance that enemies bounce off the roof, edges, or gun mantlet.

Ambush enemies:
Always watch for opportunities to flank enemies or to tingle out low HP enemies. The fast reload and high DPM mean that the T23E3 is the perfect tank for taking out enemies that are alone, or when it gets behind enemy lines, as it can deal so much damage so quickly.

Play the tank like it has no armour, and always look for opportunities where you can just let that DPM rip apart the enemies.

Overall

Armour – 3.5/10
Gun – 6.5/10
Mobility – 8.5/10
Speed – 8.5/10

T23E3 is overall a good tank.

Armour is well protected from HE but weak to standard ammo. Turret is decent against lower tier tanks.
Gun has high DPM and great dun depression. Aim time, handling, and accuracy are decent. Alpha damage is low, and penetration is decent.
Mobility is great, a strong engine with great terrain resistances and acceleration. Traverse and reverse speeds are good.
Speed is great at 56km/h.

Is it worth getting?

The T23E3 is worth getting if you really love medium tanks with a high rate of fire and DPM, as that’s the main selling point of this vehicle. Its a fun tank due to this high rate of fire and its good mobility, and it is one of the more unique tier 7 premium medium tanks.
If you’re just looking for a tier 7 based on its gameplay, this tank plays nearly identically to the Comet, so if you want you could play that to have the same gameplay experience.

The T23E3 is worth 3,000 gold. Its a good and fun tank, but its not the easiest to play, and there is a free tech tree tank that can offer almost the same experience.
