Armour when facing head on:
Upper plate 182mm
MG Port 150-200mm
Lower plate 188mm
Lower-lower plate 335mm

Turret cheeks 335mm+
Gun mantlet 215mm
Cupola 140-280mm+

Using -8 gun depression:

Upper plate 188mm
Gun mantlet 220mm
Cupola 280-400mm+

Side armour:
Side armour behind the tracks is 85mm, with the tracks themselves being 40mm thick. The side armour above the tracks is 95mm thick. Overall very good side armour for a tier 7 heavy.

Armour vs tier 6:
Facing tier 6 enemies, the Tiger Frontline has almost no weakpoints.

The usually weak lower plate is strong enough to bounce all standard ammo (except from the Churchill GC). It can bounce premium ammo from lower-penetration medium/light tanks when not angled, against enemies with more “average” penetration, angling the hull will bounce up to around 205mm of penetration.

The upper plate is slightly stronger than the lower plate, so it has similar performance. There is a small MG port weakpoint, however its so small and hard to hit that mostly enemies will not shoot here.

The turret is completely impenetrable to all enemies except on a very small weakpoint on the cupola. Due to the cupola’s angling and shape, its mostly very strong, except at the center where its 140mm thick.

Armour vs tier 7:
Facing tier 7 tanks, the frontal armour is very reliable against standard ammo, but generally falters against premium ammo.

The upper & lower plate will bounce all standard ammo except from high penetration heavy tanks (such as German or USA heavies). Premium ammo from many mediums (190-205mm) will bounce if you angle the hull, but all heavies and any medium/light tanks with over 205mm of premium penetration will be able to penetrate even if you angle.

The turret is fully impenetrable to all standard ammo, except for the small cupola weakpoint. Against premium ammo, the mantlet area will be penetrable to AP/APCR ammo types with over 220mm penetration (which is most heavy tanks, and some high penetration mediums).

Armour vs tier 8:
Against tier 8 enemies the Tiger Frontline has essentially no hull armour.

Unless you’re fighting the lower penetration tier 8 MT/LTs (175-185mm), enemies will almost always be able to penetrate the hull armour, both on the upper plate and on the lower plate.

The turret armour is still strong, but tier 8 heavies can penetrate the gun mantlet if they know to shoot there.

Gun

The Tiger Frontline mounts a 8,8cm gun.

Firepower:
-Ammo: AP/APCR/HE.
-Penetration: 180/238/47mm.
-Alpha damage: 230/195/290.
-Reload time is 5.8s for a total of 2395 DPM.

Handling:
Estimated aim time is 3.3/3.6s
Base aim time is 2.32s, but it can get down to 1.78s
-Dispersion is 0.326/0.277
Gun handling is 0.16/0.15/0.11, or 0.14/0.13/0.1 with Vertical Stabilizer.

Usability:
-Shell velocities are 773/966/773 m/s.
-Gun depression is -8 degrees around the entire tank, except the rear where its -4.4.

Overall this is a great gun, it has good DPM with with decent alpha damage. Its standard penetration is average, but it has great premium penetration. Aim time, gun handling, and accuracy are all good, which make the gun feel quite reliable at any range and in any situation.

Mobility

Raw stats:
-Forward speed is 40km/h.
-Reverse speed is -12km/h.
-Raw acceleration rate is 13.2 hp/t.
-Engine power is 748hp for its 57 ton weight.

Hard terrain mobility:
-Actual acceleration is 13.2 hp/t.
-Traverse speed is 36.7 deg/s.

Medium terrain mobility:
-Actual acceleration is 9.5 hp/t.
-Traverse speed is 26.2 deg/s.

Terrain resistance stats:
Terrain resistances are 1/1.4/1.7

Overall this is unimpressive mobility for a heavy tank, its hard terrain mobility is quite good, however on medium terrain the tank feels very sluggish and struggles to maintain its speed. Its top speed is good, and it can boost its mobility with the consumable that the tank has.

Equipment, Consumables, & Provisions

Tiger Frontline has access to the Improved Engine Power Boost Consumable.

Improved Engine Power Boost is mandatory on this tank. The Tiger Frontline is among the slower tier 7 heavy tanks, and this consumable significantly helps with the tank’s overall mobility. When activated, the consumable gives an extra 3-4 hp/t and 8-12 degrees/s traverse speed, depending on what terrain type you’re on.

Gun Rammer:
The Tiger Frontline has already got decent standard penetration, & good premium penetration, and having an AP/APCR ammo loadout, it doesn’t benefit much from calibrated shells.

Use gun rammer to improve the tank’s good DPM. Gun rammer would reduce the reload time from 6.1s to 5.8s, and increase DPM from 2274 to 2395.

Enhanced Armour:
Due to its flat and thick armour, the Tiger Frontline gains a lot of use from enhanced armour.

Enhanced armour improves:
Upper plate from 182mm to 188mm
Lower plate from 188mm to 193mm
Gun mantlet from 215mm to 222mm

The increase may not seem much, but the Tiger’s armour is just on the level of tier 7 standard penetration (around 175-185mm penetration), so this increase pushes it just over the standard penetration level.

Vertical Stabilizer/Refined Gun:
Either of these can work well, as the Tiger Frontline has got both quite good gun handling and good dispersion.

Use refined gun if you want to have better accuracy at any range at the cost of slightly worse aim time.
Use vertical stabilizer if you want to have better aim time at the cost of slightly worse dispersion.

Gameplay advice

Gameplay of the Tiger Frontline is just that of a generic heavy tank, it does well in brawls and when hulldown or sidescraping.

General gameplay:
The usual gameplay of this tank is very simple, just go to the heavy flank and try to use the armour.

If bottom tier, sidescrape using the tank’s good side armour, or use hulldown positions where you can make use of the -8 gun depression. If you’re top tier, then you can expose the hull front to bounce shots from enemies.

Always try to angle the hull when facing tier 6-7 enemies, since the Tiger’s hull shape is just perfect for doing so, and it helps to increase the effectiveness of the armour.

The tank also has good DPM & reload time for 230 alpha, so try to out-trade higher damage enemies by shooting them twice for each time they shoot once.

Hull armour:
Be aware of the armour performance of the hull depending on what enemy you are fighting against.

Against enemies with 125-180mm of penetration, you generally don’t have to angle and you will bounce their shots on the hull.
For enemies with 185-205mm of penetration, angling the hull will generally cause enemies to bounce, either off the uppeer/lower plates or off the tracks.
If enemies have more than 205mm penetration then they will almost always be able to penetrate the hull unless you over-angle.

Sidescrape:
Do sidescrape in this tank whenever you can (or need), its side armour is very good for a tier 7 tank, and its flat, making it very easy to bait shots from enemies.

Tiger Frontline has 85mm armour behind the tracks, 90mm armour above the tracks, and the tracks themselves are 40mm thick.

Overall gameplay of this tank is just that of a generic heavy. It does well using its armour to bounce shots from lower tier enemies, or using sidescraping or hulldown positions against higher tier enemies. Generally its unimpressive mobility means it can’t rely on that as much in its gameplay, and more uses its gun and armour more to carry itself.

Overall

Armour – 6.5/10
Gun – 6/10
Mobility – 3.5/10
Speed – 7/10

Tiger Frontline is overall a good tank.

Armour is solid on both upper & lower plates, side armour is strong, & hulldown ability is good. Hull is weak to higher tier enemies.
Gun is good, great accuracy, gun handling, decent aim time, & great DPM for 230 alpha dmg.
Standard penetration is average, but premium is great. Gun depression is -8 degrees.
Mobility is mediocre, on hard terrain it has decent acceleration & good traverse speed, but on medium terrain its acceleration is very unimpressive, with slow traverse speed. Reverse speed is -12km/h.
Speed is great, 40km/h.

Is it worth getting?

Tiger Frontline isn’t worth getting for its overall gameplay. It doesn’t offer any significant advantages over the tech tree Tiger I, but its also technically not weaker than the Tiger I.

Tiger Frontline does better against tier 6-7 enemies due to its better armour & slight DPM/alpha damage advantage, whereas the Tiger I does better against tier 8 due to its higher standard penetration and more flexible gameplay with its better mobility.

The Tiger Frontline is worth 4,500 gold. Its a solid heavy with everything you’d expect from such a tank. Its fairly new-player friendly due to its armour and overall playstyle but still offers enough different to the tech tree Tiger I to be worth playing.
