The Y5 ELC bis is a hybrid nation tier 7 medium tank. It has a quick reload and high DPM, and is quite a fast tank. It has the hull of a Cromwell and the turret of an AMX ELC bis, so its armour is weak.

Armour
(The Y5 ELC bis in the images is using Improved Assembly)

Drag slider right -> to view 160mm AP
Drag slider <- left to view 205mm APCR
When flat & facing head-on:
Upper plate 65mm
Lower plate 60mm
Turret 65mm
Armour vs tier all 6-8 tanks:
The Y5 ELC bis has no armour at all against AP, APCR, and HEAT rounds. It can resist most HE shells frontally, but its flat 45mm side armour is easy to penetrate.
The angled upper and lower plates are troll, but only when angled like shown in the image. If not angled then there is no red on the tank at all.
Gun
The Y5 ELC bis has a 75mm gun
-Alpha damage is 160 on AP, 135 on APCR, and 200 on HE
-It has a 3.5s reload, giving it 2725 DPM
-Penetration on AP is 145mm, APCR is 202mm, and HE is 38mm.
-Aim time is 3.2/3.4s
-Dispersion is 0.326/0.293
–Gun handling is 0.12/0.12/0.08, or 0.1/0.1/0.07 with Vertical Stabilizer.
-Gun depression is -7 degrees
Overall this gun is quite good, its DPM is high, reload is quick, and has very good gun handling.
Its aim time is decent, but considering how quickly this tank moves and how fast it shoots, the gun often isn’t fully aimed in.
Gun depression is -7 which isn’t great, but its profile is very low so its not terrible either.
Mobility
-Top speed is 55km/h forwards, and -20km/h in reverse
-Traverse speed is 61.2 deg/s on hard terrain, and 52.1 deg/s on medium terrain.
-In game acceleration rate is shown as 23.8 hp/t, it has a strong 598 horsepower engine for its 46 ton weight.
-Actual acceleration rate is 26.5 hp/t on hard terrain, and 23.8 hp/t on medium terrain.
–Terrain resistances are great, having 0.9/1/1.4
The mobility of the Y5 ELC bis is very good, it has a good top speed, great acceleration rate, and good traverse speeds. Its not quite as fast as a Cromwell (the hull its built on), but its still a quick tank.
Equipment, provisions, & consumables
The Y5 ELC bis does not have any special provisions or consumables.
Gun Rammer:
The Y5 ELC bis is one of the tier 7 mediums with very high DPM but low alpha. Its main strength is in using that high DPM in battles, so its best to take gun rammer. The penetration of this tank is also already decent, and as it has no good HE or any HEAT ammo, calibrated shells doesn’t benefit this tank much.
Gun rammer would increase the DPM from 2534 to 2725, and reload time from 3.8s to 3.5s
Improved Assembly:
Due to having no armour at all, the enhanced armour doesn’t benefit the Y5 ELC bis.
Its better to use improved assembly to increase the HP from 1200 to 1272.
Vertical Stabilizer:
Since the Y5 ELC bis has such a quick reload, the vertical stabilizer benefits the tank more than on most others, as the quick reload means the tank actually needs good after-shot-dispersion. Along with this, the tank sports quite an active support playstyle, and is constantly moving around.
Refined gun will hardly make a difference on this tank, so use vertical stabilizer instead.
Gameplay advice
The Y5 ELC bis is a support medium tank. It has light armour but good mobility and a nice gun to out-DPM opponents.
Trade in DPM:
The low alpha and quick reload of the Y5 ELC bis mean that in order to get damage out effectively, for every shot an enemy shoots, you should try to shoot them back at least 2 times before they reload. The only tanks you should not do this with are autoloaders, and other tier 7 tanks with 160-170 alpha.
If you trade damage like this, it basically ensures that the enemies do not out damage you when the do penetrate.
Try not to get shot:
Of course this is the case with any tank, but especially so with this one. It has the turret of a tier 5 light tank and the hull of a tier 6 medium, its armour is extremely weak, and essentially anything that hits it will penetrate.
The HP of the tank is decent but nothing impressive, so try to conserve it for later in the battle where you may need it to trade. Its not worth playing aggressively at the start of the battle and then getting penetrated by every shot that hits you.
Ambush enemies:
Look out for opportunities to flank behind enemy tanks and surprise them. The quick reload and high DPM of this tank make it very effective at dealing damage to enemies quickly, so its perfect for opportunities when enemies are distracted or isolated.
The Y5 ELC bis should basically just be played as a support medium, try to avoid being hit, and always utilize the great mobility and high DPM.
Overall
Overall the Y5 ELC bis is a decent tank. Its nothing really amazing or special as there are many similar vehicles in tier 7.
Its DPM is high and handling is decent, though its gun depression isn’t the best. The mobility is very nice and the tank does feel quite quick, but it has a complete lack of armour to all standard ammo.
Is it worth getting?
The Y5 ELC bis was released for free in the “Blitz turns 5” event and could be achieved as one of the 6 main rewards (3 Y5 tanks and their 3 attachments). It was worth grinding when it was free, but it isn’t worth buying for gold.
The Y5 ELC bis is out-competed by the T23E3 and the Comet, both tanks with the same alpha damage, but both of those have a quicker reload time, better armour, and better gun depression.
The Y5 ELC bis is worth 2,000 gold. Its an decent tank with decent stats, and a fairly fun playstyle, but its quite pointless when it just gets outdone by the T23E3 and Comet.
