Drag slider <- left to view 290mm HEAT
Armour when facing head on:
Angled upper plate 380mm
Flat upper plate 270mm (230mm base + 40mm spaced)
Flat lower plate 100mm
Angled lower plate 150mm
Turret cheeks 290-370mm (weakest point 255mm)
Gun mantlet 400-500mm+
Cupola 150mm

vs 245mm AP (top image), 290mm HEAT (bottom image)
Using -8 gun depression:
Angled upper plate 530mm
Flat upper plate 290mm (250mm base + 40mm spaced)
Turret cheeks 300-370mm (weakest point 260mm)
Gun mantlet 360-570mm+
Cupola 152mm
Side armour:
Side armour is 75mm, and its flat along the whole side of the tank. For a medium tank this is quite decent side armour protection.
Strong areas:
-The upper plate armour is very strong, even tier 10 premium ammo will struggle to go through.
-The turret is very strong, most enemies will be unable to penetrate the turret front. If enemies use premium ammo, the thin areas around the mantlet will be penetrable.
Main weakpoints:
-The lower plate is weak to all enemies, and even penetrable to cheap HESH, such as from Tortoise.
-The cupola on the turret top is completely flat and penetrable to all enemies.
-Behind the box on the left side (from enemy PoV) of the turret is a 20mm area, which is penetrable to all enemies.
Gun
The FVE Defender mounts a 100mm gun. Its a burst autoloader, meaning shooting the gun fires all shells immediately.
Firepower:
-Ammo: AP/HEAT/HE.
-Penetration: 215/285/55mm.
-Alpha damage: 50/40/60.
-Reload time: 12.7s
-Shells: 10
-Intra-clip: 0.10s
-DPM: 2210
Handling:
โEstimated aim time is 3.3/3.5s
โBase aim time is 2s
-Dispersion is 0.344/0.306
–Gun handling is 0.22/0.18/0.1
Usability:
-Shell velocities are 2000/2000/2000 m/s.
-Gun depression is -8 degrees around the entire tank, except the rear where its -2.
Overall this isn’t a bad gun. While DPM is low, standard penetration is low, and the gun handling looks very poor, the gunactually performs fairly consistently.
If aimed on an enemy, the gun will be able to hit all 10 shots (given that none bounce or the enemy doesn’t move), the after-shot-bloom doesn’t cause shells to miss. The aim time/accuracy feel quite decent, and -8 gun depression makes it great for using the armour. The 500 damage burst helps with mitigating that terrible DPM (at least somewhat), and shell velocity on all shells is also the highest in the game.
Mobility
Raw stats:
-Forward speed is 43km/h.
-Reverse speed is -17km/h.
-Raw acceleration rate is 16.1 hp/t.
-Engine power is 969hp for its 60 ton weight.
–Terrain resistances are 1/1.3/1.7
Hard terrain mobility:
-Actual acceleration is 16.1 hp/t.
-Traverse speed is 45.8 deg/s.
Medium terrain mobility:
-Actual acceleration is 12.4 hp/t.
-Traverse speed is 35.2 deg/s.
Overall this poor mobility for a medium tank. It top speed is low, reverse speed is poor, acceleration is sluggish, and terrain resistances on medium terrain just make it all worse. Thankfully, the almost HT-like armour does justify such mobility, though it is definitely the least mobile of all tier 9 mediums.
FVE Defender can also boost its mobility with the consumable that the tank has.
Equipment, Consumables, & Provisions
FVE Defender has access to the Improved Engine Power Boost Consumable.
Improved Engine Power Boost is a much needed consumable, as the FVE Defender has mobility comparable to a faster heavy, rather than a medium.
Calibrated Shells:
This is mandatory on this tank, due to how the gun of the FVE Defender shoots, and its low DPM.
Since it fires so many shells in under a second, they generally will go all over the place. If you’re aiming at a lower plate, some may hit the upper plate. If aiming for the center of an enemy cupola, some may hit the edge.
For this reason you need the highest possible penetration, to give all your 10 shells the lowest chance of bouncing possible.
Improved Assembly:
As the default armour of the FVE Defender is very good already, it doesn’t really need enhanced armour. It does still help around the edges of the turret cheeks, but the improvements are quite minimal.
Using improved assembly would increase the HP from 1700 to 1785, which will help in battle for making trades against enemies and surviving longer.
Vertical Stabilizer:
Vertical stabilizer is very important for improving the shot consistency of the tank for more active gameplay, as it helps with the terrible on-move dispersion, and the after-shot dispersion, helping to keep the gun from blooming out as much with each subsequent shot.
Gameplay advice
Gameplay of the FVE Defender is more like that of a heavium, more focused around using its 500 burst to trade damage, and using its solid armour to bounce shots and hold positions.
General gameplay:
When top tier and facing tier 8 enemies, the FVE Defender can
basically roleplay as a heavy tank. It can hold positions well and trade damage effectively against tier 8 heavy tanks due to its 500 damage and solid armour, especially in hulldown positions.
When in a bottom tier matchup facing tier 10 enemies, still play it like a heavium, but go to the medium flank. It will be harder to trade damage against tier 9/10 heavy tanks due to their stronger armour and higher damage, however it can still do well against mediums.
Try to always stay close to at least 1 ally, since the reload of the FVE is very slow compared to other tanks, and its low DPM makes it easy to be rushed and overwhelmed by faster or higher DPM tanks.
Hull armour:
Be aware of the armour performance of the hull depending on what enemy you are fighting against.
Against enemies with 125-180mm of penetration, you generally don’t have to angle and you will bounce their shots on the hull.
For enemies with 185-205mm of penetration, angling the hull will generally cause enemies to bounce, either off the uppeer/lower plates or off the tracks.
If enemies have more than 205mm penetration then they will almost always be able to penetrate the hull unless you over-angle.
Sidescrape:
Do sidescrape in this tank whenever you can (or need), its side armour is very good for a tier 7 tank, and its flat, making it very easy to bait shots from enemies.
Overall gameplay of this tank is just that of a generic heavy. It does well using its armour to bounce shots from lower tier enemies, or using sidescraping or hulldown positions against higher tier enemies. Generally its unimpressive mobility means it can’t rely on that as much in its gameplay, and more uses its gun and armour more to carry itself.
Overall
Armour โ 6.5/10
Gun โ 5/10
Mobility โ 4/10
Speed โ 4/10
The FVE Defender is overall a decent tank.
Armour is solid on the turret front and hull, with decent side armour. A lot of spaced armour on the sides/ rear of the turret & hull provides good HESH protection.
Gun is decent. Very low DPM with poor gun handling, however good shot consistency, aim time, & 500 burst make it good for trading.
Mobility is poor for a medium, with slow acceleration & traverse speed. Reverse speed is -17km/h.
Speed is mediocre at 43km/h.
Is it worth getting?
FVE Defender is worth getting if you like “different” tanks, as there’s really nothing in game that feels like this tank. Its heavily armoured for a medium, with a good amount of damage to trade with enemies.
Its also worth getting to play in Gravity Force or Gravitizing fun modes, as the 60 ton wieght, combined with high shell velocity, and 10 shell burst make it great at launching itself into enemies to get ramming damage.
The Tiger Frontline is worth 10,000 gold. This is purely for the unique and fun factor, as the FVE isn’t among the “strongest” mediums at tier 9, but it is very different to other tanks and can be fun to play with the burst damage.
