The Svear is a tier 7 Swedish medium tank. Its a clone of the tech tree Leo medium tank, but it does have some notable differences. This is a fast and mobile tank, with big alpha damage and great aim time, though its quite weak in terms of armour.

Armour
(The Svear in the images is using Improved Assembly)

vs 192mm AP (flat vs angled)
When flat and facing head-on:
Upper plate 150-170mm auto-ricochet
Lower plate 85mm
Turret 110-130mm
Gun mantlet 140-275mm
Note that the Svear has 40mm of side armour, its pretty weak to most HE rounds, and due to the shoulders on the edge, there is not much point trying to angle the armour.

vs 192mm AP
Using -10 gun depression:
Upper plate 450-505mm (driver hatch 130mm)
Turret &mantlet remain same
VS all tier 6-8:
The upper plate of the Svear is an auto-ricochet to all AP and APCR rounds. The only shells that can penetrate are HEAT with around 160-180mm penetration.:
The lower plate and turret are easily penetrated by all tanks from tiers 6-8. The gun mantlet can be penetrated by tanks with over 145mm penetration, but only directly to the left and right of the gun, if you hit above, below, or too close to the gun, then the shot won’t penetrate.
Don’t rely on the armour of this tank when playing it, as though there are some bouncy areas, most players will jsut penetrate the turret or lower plate
Gun
The Svear mounts a 105mm gun
-Alpha damage is 290 on AP, 250 on APCR, and 380 on HE
-It has a 8s reload, giving it 2175 DPM
-Penetration on AP is 155mm, APCR is 194mm, and HE is 53mm.
–Estimated aim time is 2.4/2.5s
–Base aim time is 1.3s, but it can get down to 1.06s.
-Dispersion is 0.380/0.342
–Gun handling is 0.17/0.17/16, or 0.15/0.15/0.14 with Vertical Stabilizer.
-Gun depression is -10 degrees
This gun has insanely quick aim time, great gun depression, decent DPM, and relatively quick reload. The gun handling isn’t great, but the aim time compensates for it. Its biggest downsides are its penetration and accuracy, but its the same for most tier 7 tanks, so its not too surprising.
Considering how quickly this big alpha gun can get around the battlefield, it has some very nice stats.
Mobility
-Top speed is 55km/h forwards, and -20km/h in reverse
-Traverse speed is 57.1 deg/s on hard terrain, and 51.9 deg/s on medium terrain.
-In game acceleration rate is shown as 22.8 hp/t, it has a very strong 575 horsepower engine for its 25 ton weight.
-Actual acceleration rate is 22.8 hp/t on hard terrain, and 20.7 hp/t on medium terrain.
–Terrain resistances are good, having 1/1.1/1.5
This mobility is extremely good. The tank has a very high acceleration rate, and it has great top speed to utilize it. The traverse speed is quite good, and terrain resistances are great. This tank is a very quick and nimble vehicle on all terrain types.
Equipment, provisions, & consumables
The Svear does not have any special consumables provisions.
Gun Rammer:
Though the penetration of the tank is low, you shouldn’t use calibrated shells. Low penetration is a trait of all tier 7 tanks, its just something they are known for. The Svear also has great aim time, and it can make up for that penetration, as you can just aim at weakpoints.
Of course, if you find yourself playing the tank and feeling constantly that your penetration is not sufficient, then do use calibrated shells.
Tier 7 is a DPM tier though, and some of the highest DPM tanks are mediums. Often you will face these on your flank (as that’s just how battles usually go), and you do need a fairly quick reload and higher DPM to be able to effectively deal with them, which is why you should use gun rammer. You more often face mediums (as you are a medium) than you do heavies.
Improved Assembly:
Due to not having any thick armour, enhanced armour does not help the Svear to bounce more shots. Its far more beneficial to use improved assembly instead so that you can take more hits in battles.
Use improved assembly instead, and increase the tank’s base HP from 1200 to 1272.
Refined Gun:
Just as like on the T-34-3 or STG, this tank has insanely quick aiming time. Often in battle, you will be fully aimed in due to the fast aim time, but you may miss or bounce due to the accuracy being a poor 0.380.
Due to this, its actually far more beneficial to the Svear to use refined gun and improve its accuracy down to 0.342.
Sure its gun handling is also not the best, but the aim time is almost instant, so as long as you stop to shoot, the gun handling of the tank is irrelevant.
(The reason this does not apply to 90% of tanks that are reviewed on the site and are in the game is because very few of them have such good base aim time)
If you really think that vertical stabilizer is still a better choice, then use it in battle and try the tank. If you still find yourself missing many shots, use the refined gun. When tanks have such fast aim time and use vertical stabilizer, the main reason for misses is due to bad dispersion, not bad stabilization.
Gameplay advice
The Svear is an active and quick medium tank. There aren’t many other tanks that play quite like the Svear does, though the Leo is similar, its gun behaves differently and its speed is more limited.
The speed of the Svear is really a big advantage of the tank, and definitely shouldn’t be brushed over. Its a far faster tank than the Leo, and it can get around the map so much easier just due to that increased 10km/h speed. Use this to your advantage in battles to quickly relocate or to change flanks.
General gameplay:
The Svear plays as a medium with no armour, take it to the medium tank flank and wait for enemies to appear. Don’t rush too far forward without knowing where enemies are, as this tank will be easily shredded apart due to its lack of turret armour and quite low DPM for a tier 7.
Once enemies start appearing on the map you can either push forward on the flank, or try and catch enemies off guard by flanking. Due to the high alpha and relatively quick 8s reload of the Svear, its quite efficient at dealing damage as a peek-a-boom tank and as a flanking tank. Just be careful getting into an all-out DPM fight with same tier tanks, as many have higher DPM.
Don’t continuously move the tank:
It may be habit or instinct, especially to veteran players, but do not move the tank. Its gun handling is not the best and its accuracy is quite poor. If you are waiting for an enemy to poke out, or trying to poke a ridgeline, don’t mess about trying to wiggle or move back and fourth; it makes your tank significantly less accurate.
To hit its shots accurately, this tank needs to sit still for about 1-2s, and the aiming circle will be fully aimed in.
Aim your shots:
As said above this tank only needs to sit still for 1-2s for it to be fully accurate, and it definitely is worth sitting still for that time to aim as you do quite high alpha.
Use gun depression:
Though the Svear won’t bounce more shots when using its gun depression, it does allow it to be a harder target to hit, and offers a favourable position for you to aim your shots in from.
Overall
Overall the Svear is a great tank. It has very good mobility, a really nice and quite fun gun, and even a bit of armour on the upper plate and mantlet. The only real issues of this tank are its low penetration and lack of turret armour.
Its a near identical tank to the Leo, the only differences are, the Leo has much worse aim time, 10km worse top speed, but better gun handling.
Is the Svear better than the Leo? Definitely, but not by too much. The worse aim time of the Leo is partly compensated by the handling, and the top speed is limiting, but doesn’t take away from the playstyle of the tank.
Is it worth getting?
Without comparing it to the Leo, is it worth it? Yes, with the Leo out of the picture, the Svear is a unique tank that offers quite one-of-a-kind gameplay. Its style of gameplay in itself is very fun, with a fairly quick firing, high alpha gun, reliable and quick mobility, and importantly, quick aim time.
However, the Leo does exist, so the Svear isn’t really that worth it. Unless you just really love the camouflage of this tank, or the Leo is your favourite tier 7 medium, then it would be better to just play the Leo.
The Leo is a very similar tank, and you can get the same gameplay from that tank, even though its slower and aims for longer, it still provides the same gameplay experience for free.
The Svear is worth 5,000 gold. Its a fun tank, and its definitely not a weak tank. While it is better than the Leo, it must be said that the Leo is completely free, and offers a near-identical experience, except in the speed (the speed is noticeably worse).
As the Svear is a collector tank, it can be sold from the garage for 2,500 gold
