T77 is an American tier 8 autoloading heavy tank. It has a 2 shot autoloader with quite high alpha, it has good mobility, and a fairly strong armour profile.
This tank is considered very strong/OP due to its great overall capabilities and its quick 2 shot burst of 760 damage.

Armour
(The T77 in the images is using Enhanced Armour)

vs 225mm AP (left image), 265mm APCR (right image)
Hull:
Upper plate 245-330mm
Lower plate 145-195mm
Turret:
190mm – right under the gun
230-240mm – to the left and right of the gun
250-300mm+ edges of turret base, area above gun

vs 225mm AP (left image), 265mm APCR (right image)
Using -10 gun depression:
Upper plate: 320-380mm
Turret: Roughly the same as above, since it oscillates down. Some areas are hidden as they go into the hull when using gun depression.
VS tier 7:
T77’s armour in tier 7 is extremely strong. Tier 7 MT and LT generally only have 160mm penetration or less, and HT have generally 190mm penetration and less, the only exceptions are USA, German, and French HT with 190-203mm.
This means that other than those exception HT, tier 7 tanks generally can’t reliably penetrate anywhere on the tank. The weakest point is the front lower edges on the left and right of the lower plate, 145mm, the rest of the tank will require 180-190mm to even penetrate the weakpoints.
VS tier 8:
Lower penetration tier 8 tanks will face the same issues as tier 7 tanks, especially if the T77 is using enhanced armour. The weakest points will be on the lower plate, and to penetrate other areas reliably, these tanks will need to use premium ammo.
Tanks with higher penetration though (such as 215-230mm) will be able to penetrate various points on the T77.
The main weakpoint areas are all around the gun and just above the turret ring.
Note that hitting these areas are not as easy as it seems. Unless in point blank range with good accuracy, it can be easy for enemy shells to stray and hit the red areas instead.
The turret is troll, its not going to always bounce, but its also not at all weak.
VS tier 9:
Tier 9 enemies will be able to penetrate a larger portion of the turret than tier 8 tanks, but there will still be troll areas that they can bounce off.
High penetration tanks (HT with 250-258mm) may also be able to penetrate the upper plate in close range and if the tank is un-angled.

T77 can angle and can sidescrape. Note that this tank’s hull is that of a T54E2, so it has angled boat-shape sides.
This means that the T77 can even over-angle its hull, as its sides are 80mm, and the boat shaped angling makes it an extremely high effective thickness. It also has a 140mm bar along the flat part of the hull sides.
The only weakpoint when sidescraping is the turret ring, a small area sticks out right where the turret hangs over the side of the hull
Gun
The T77 mounts a 120mm autoloader
-Alpha damage is 380 on APCR, 320 on HEAT, and 440 on HE
-It has a 2.5s intra-clip reload, and a 19.1s magazine reload giving it 2115 DPM
-The clip has 2 shells, so in 2.5s it can deal a 760 damage burst.
-Penetration on APCR is 221mm, HEAT is 249mm, and HE is 50mm.
-Aim time is 3.9s/4.3s
-Dispersion is 0.337/0.303
–Gun handling is 0.2/0.2/0.14, or 0.17/0.17/0.12 with Vertical Stabilizer.
-Gun depression is -10 degrees
This gun is amazing for a tier 8 heavy. Its able to burst out a huge amount of damage in such a short time, and its not inaccurate at all. The penetration is decent, DPM is good for an autoloader, and it has very good alpha damage for such a gun.
Note that the T77 has a very poor 14.93% APCR shell drop off. Meaning at 500 meters, its penetration will have reduced down from 221mm to 188mm.
Mobility
-Top speed is a decent 35km/h forwards, and -18km/h in reverse
-Traverse speed is 36.7 deg/s on hard terrain, and 24.5 deg/s on medium terrain.
-In game acceleration rate is shown as 16.9 hp/t, it has a strong 1006hp engine for its 59 ton weight.
-Actual acceleration rate is 17 hp/t on hard terrain, and 11.3 hp/t on medium terrain.
–Terrain resistances are average, at 1/1.5/2
The T77’s mobility is good in every single aspect except one, and that is medium terrain traverse speed. For some unexplained reason, it has very poor medium terrain traverse, one of the worst in tier 8 (unexplained because other tanks with same hard terrain traverse and medium terrain resistance have better traverse speed).
Other than that one aspect, the T77 has extremely good mobility. It turns fast on hard terrain, it has great reverse speed, it has decent top speed, and very good acceleration rate.
It also has a very quick turret traverse speed of 37.2 deg/s, this does somewhat compensate for the slow traverse on medium terrain.
Equipment, provisions, & consumables
The T77 has no special consumables or provisions.
Provisions:
Use 10% food, its essential for improvign the most important stats on the tank, DPM, reload time, view range, traverse speed, accuracy, etc.
Also use both 10% and 3% fuel, as it really helps the traverse speed of the tank, without losing much combat capability.
Calibrated Shells:
T77 has decent penetration, however, its HEAT shells are definitely below average, and using calibrated shells gives them a big boost in penetration.
Calibrated shells will increase the magazine reload by 0.4s and slightly worsen the accuracy and a few other stats; however, it boosts penetration of APCR from 221mm to 232mm, HEAT from 249mm to 274mm, and HE from 50mm to 55mm.
This will also help with its poor penetration loss at distance on APCR.
Improved Assembly/Enhanced Armour:
Both enhanced armour and improved assembly work well on the T77.
The tank has a decent 1750 base HP, using improved assembly increases this up to 1855 HP.
Enhanced armour will make the armour stronger by:
Turret by roughly 9mm
Lower plate by roughly 8mm
Upper plate by roughly 10mm.
Overall this just makes the tank more resilient, and the armour even more troll to guns with good penetration.
Improved Control:
The T77 has got very good acceleration rate, but very poor traverse speed on medium terrain (the 2nd lowest of any tier 8 heavy). Due to it also not having a high top speed, the T77 doesn’t need to have an improved acceleration rate.
Improved control will benefit the tank much more, as it just turns extremely slowly on medium terrain, but doesn’t at all struggle to get up to speed. Using improved control will increase traverse speed on hard terrain from 36.7 deg/s to 37.8 deg/s, and on medium terrain from 24.5 deg/s up to 25.2 deg/s. Acceleration rate will decrease slightly, but its not noticeable, and its definitely not as important as the improved traverse speed.
Vertical Stabilizer:
Vertical stabilizer is absolutely necessary on the T77. Various factors cause this tank to require this equipment piece for effective gameplay. Fast turret turn speed, fast acceleration, constantly moving style of brawling gameplay, and the fact that its a 2 shell autoloader with a quick intra clip.
All of these will benefit from the vertical stabilizer, as it makes the tank far more accurate during and after you move, and also when you have to shoot in quick succession.
Gameplay advice
T77 is an extremely unique tier 8 tank, however its gameplay is quite similar to the T57 Heavy or M-VI-Yoh in tier 10. Both of those tanks are focused around their great guns, both have average mobility, and both have quite troll armour. If you have played either of those two tanks before, you should be able to get the hang of the T77 very quickly.
General gameplay:
Go with your team, it doesn’t matter how strong your tank is, if you go to a flank alone and your 6 teammates are on the other side of the map, you usually die. The very few situations where the enemy team does the same as your team do not justify you going to a flank alone.
Use your team’s support, as this tank has a 19s clip reload, and while that isn’t too long for an autoloader, its enough time for enemies to take advantage of the situation and rush you. Make sure you have support of either other HT and MT, or TDs from behind to cover your reload.
Don’t chase the 2nd shot. While this tank usually can put in both of its shells into the same enemy, don’t become hell-bent on doing it every time. If an enemy escapes or goes behind cover, its usually best to just reload your magazine so you can fight at full capacity. If you chase enemies in situations where you could have just waited to reload, you are risking losing HP to enemies unnecessarily.
Fake the reload. Though you have 2 shells and most enemies will be able to track when you have shot fairly easily, you can still try to fake your reload. Do this by acting aggressive to the enemy, but don’t push out to where they can actually shoot you, you can push forward a bit, or aim towards their tank/watch the corner where they may poke out. It can trick the enemy into thinking that you are reloaded already, and will stop them from pushing you when you are still reloading.
This works even better when you have just shot 1 shell and decide to reload, as enemies who know the tank will think that you still have your 2nd shell and are just waiting to shoot them.
Try to avoid just reversing, as this makes it extremely obvious that you are reloading.
(Of course this won’t always work, some players are very good and can guess when you are faking the reload, and other players just don’t understand the fake and would push you even if you had 2 shells ready.)
Use gun depression. Using gun depression makes this tank much stronger in terms of armour. It hides the weaker lower part of the turret (as this part will oscillate into the hull), and it also removes the lower plate as a weakpoint. -10 gun depression is extremely flexible, and the T77 can use most ridgelines.
Also move back and fourth when either in a hulldown or a gun depression position. As the turret armour is troll, and the only real weakpoints are around the gun, moving back and fourth and also occasionally turning the turret left/right a bit can cause enemies to miss and hit an area they can’t penetrate.
Angle the hull. As shown in the armour analysis above, angling the armour works very well due to the boat shape of the hull, the good 80mm side thickness, and the strong 140mm bar along the flat part of the sides. The only weakpoint when angling/sidescraping is the turret ring.
Angling also makes the lower plate thicker, so its very good to use against tier 7 enemies, and low penetration tier 8s.
(Note that even though this tank has the same hull as a T54E2, it can angle and sidescrape much better. The side armour is overall just thicker, with more reinforced areas; and the front track wheel is not nearly as weak as the one on the T54E2)
Raise the gun, but only slightly. If you raise the gun too far, it makes the lower part of the turret (under and around the gun) exposed, and that area is very weak against same tier tanks.
This is against 265mm APCR.

Overall
Armour – 7/10
Gun – 7.5/10
Mobility – 7/10
Speed – 5/10
T77 is overall a great tank.
Armour is strong on both the upper plate and turret, but there are weakpoints. Side armour is usable for angling/sidescraping, and HE protection is very good.
Gun has good penetration, decent accuracy, DPM, & aim time. Burst damage is very impressive, gun depression is great.
Mobility is good, very strong engine and acceleration rate, good reverse speed and hard terrain traverse speed. Medium terrain traverse speed is extremely poor.
Speed is average, 35km/h.
The T77 is an essentially perfect autoloader, and its one of the reasons it maintains such a high winrate amongst players. Considering its high damage output (760 in 2.5s), its great mobility, and its ability to block damage with troll armour, many players consider this tank as overpowered.
Is it worth getting?
The T77 is 100% worth getting. Its arguably one of the strongest heavy tanks in tier 8, having just very good armour, very good mobility in most cases, and a completely broken gun.
The gun is the main thing that makes this tank so strong, it has high alpha, even if it only hits 1 shot, it has fast intra-clip, its relatively accurate, it has good penetration, and it has amazing gun depression. It can just deal such big damage in such a short length of time, and its not even penalized by low DPM or long reload, because its DPM is actually good, and its reload is relatively quick.
You may not enjoy this tank if you don’t like autoloaders. You have to know how to use and play autoloaders to be really able to use this tank to its full strength. It also doesn’t have “reliable” armour, meaning it won’t work when you want it to, its troll and will bounce when you least expect it to, but get penetrated when you want to bounce.
The T77 is worth 13,000 gold. The tank is just that good to the point where it is almost overpowered. Its far too strong for a tank to have all 3 factors of good mobility, good armour, and a great gun, let alone also giving it an autoloader with 2 high alpha shots and a very quick intra-clip reload.
